A large number of people start wearing hats when someone sings "hats go on your head". I have video evidence of this.

Chapter 42

The Pope and First Cleric were coming up empty. Nobody had seen BlitzGirl recently, and although everyone was dutifully following the First Commandment, some people were starting to get concerned. BlitzGirl had been absent before, but never like this. And just recently she had been allowing (even encouraging) others to take over her punsaw. Could it be that this was a precursor to something more tragic, or sinister? The First Commandment was not the only commandment, but neither the Pope nor First Cleric could figure out how the Second Commandment (or was it the Third?) would come into play here.

"It's the prayer tiles", said First Cleric. "It's drawn you away from your flock."
Spoiler:
The Pope did not agree, but could not come up with a convincing alternative. Perhaps the answer actually lay in those tiles, and more prayer is what was called for. But that would be a seaish amount of praying - the Pope had just made Beardo, and a second one would be long in coming. But in any case, this was why they were seeking the council of BlitzGirl in the first place, and now she was nowhere to be found.

There was one place they had not tried yet, and that was the Grotto - one of the most sacred places in the entire grounds of the Seminary. It is an ideal place of contemplation. The roar of the Great Cascade is somehow subdued in the Grotto while still masking all distracting noises, and the mist from the waterfall gives the entire place a mystical and surreal quality. Impaled upon the cliffside just a few cue above the Grotto is the Holy Arrow of Armageddon, with BlitzGirl's boa still attached to it. Many had made great efforts to recover the Arrow, but it would not budge. Like the sea, it would do what it wanted, and right now it wanted to remain just where it was. This is the birth of legend, and as one after another failed, the clerecy realized that whoever removed the arrow would only be able to do so because they were chosen, and found worthy, by the Holy Arrow of Armageddon itself.

Even the Pope himself was rebuffed by the Arrow.

And so, the Grotto, and the cliffs above it, had become Sacred Grounds, more sacred perhaps than even the Great Cathedral. It was reserved for deep, quiet, personal, individual communion, and none who had let themselves into its ethereal wa came away untouched by the experience.

BlitzGirl had been there, and although this was not a place that she frequented, perhaps she was there now, and if not, maybe they could at least sense her essence. It might give them a clue as to how to find her.

Before setting out to the Grotto, the Pope returned to his chamber and gathered up his prayer tiles. The Grotto would be the perfect place to use them, should that be necessary. First Cleric said nothing, realizing that although he thought it was mustard, mustard is what makes the world go round. Unfortunately, he no longer remembered why this was true; he could feel his brief experience with clear thinking slowly fading away.

Emerging with a small sack, the Pope beckoned to First Cleric, "Are you ready?"

First Cleric nodded and the two began their walk to the Grotto. As they walked, they kept feeling that something was amiss, but neither could put their finger on just what it was. Superficially, everything seemed to be in order, but there was this strange feeling, like a small child left alone in a large house. As they walked across the courtyard, the people they saw did not seem out of place, but something was wrong. Something that they normally would not even be aware was there, because it was always there, wasn't there anymore, but they couldn't figure out what it was. And then it struck them - there were no redundakitties! Usually there would be a seaish amount of them, hidden, but today there weren't any. The fact that they could see that the fact that they could see that they couldn't see what they normally couldn't see allowed them to see that what they couldn't see was the most important part of what they could see. It was a most Holy Contradiction!

"Do you see what I see?" asked the Pope.

"No, which is why I know what it is", replied First Cleric.

The Pope smiled. He'd come a long way, First Cleric had.

Awesomeful once again, ucim! Image
It's a treeish contradiction2 (albeit probably not a holy one (nor a hole-in-one (whereas in (also preemptive) donuts there's a hole in all, not just in one))) that the first comment about a chapter that broaches the disappearance of BlitzGirl is made by BlitzGirl.
Wait on.

I suppose it's against your programming to read the "Credits" section of the page linked by the "Options, Info, & Credits" link?
Anyway, the big kudos go to Asher Vollmer for the original Threes, Randall Munroe for the Time artwork, mrob27 for making 2048 into a much more elaborate hotdog, and Morobu for play-testing into the wee nopix (but that was in Japan, so maybe from your perspective the nopix were quite reasonable). But there were many more contributors, so click the link.

Pro-tip for a molpish life: if you are ever in charge of room bookings for a building, make sure you never double-book events. Especially if one of those events is a wedding. Sadly, I don't think I can avoid unmolpishness by hiding somewhere :(

Enhanced, an image claimed appeared
through methods steeped in magic black.

But though I tried, I seem to lack
the mojo that is so revered.

I wonder if I'm on the track
enhancers long had pioneered

to pull out meaning, plain or weird

Ooooh, that's a nice poem! What structure is that? A half-sonnet of sorts?

Thanks. :) To my knowledge it is not a named form, just a few couplets in ABBA BAAB scheme.

It is said that mustard makes the world go round, this is an example. I was trying a single AA couplet but couldn't put my complete thought ("I wasn't able to successfully enhance - was it an actual enhancement or an OTTish one?") into just one. So I tried two but couldn't get the rhymes I wanted. So I tried four couplets, each time flipping the sequence.

I suppose the sequence could go on forever, a la serpinsky, but decided to be more like a river, than like unto all the droplets of the sea taken together.

So many treeish things abound!
Poems, otties all around.
Acts of clerics, balthaongs-
I feel like I should write some songs.
But coma time has long since passed,
And I must close my eyes at last.

Hope everyone had a molpish Thanksgiving that was inclined to do so!
