Also, @balthasar_s, continuing thanks for BFTF.

The viewer is now only missing the ong time of each frame.
And the frames that appeared after t1i-1414.

The enhance! button from the bftf viewer will be reimplemented with the interface I made for the "Did you notice …" posts of t1i. This will make it easier for me.

While we're talking about viewers,

After bftf is finished, if someone wants to create a time after Time story and it can't be on mscha's viewer either because like bftf it's not exactly an aftertime story and doesn't belong there or for some reason the person doesn't want or cannot use mscha's viewer, I can help.

I can provide a viewer.
And bots.
And an interface to post "Did you notice …" posts.

The bftf viewer and the blue t1i viewer are two independent pieces of software. But a lot of code was reused. I'm thinking of
making a more general viewer which can serve multiple stories. And look a little different for each story if needed.

But that has to wait.

Good luck, my blitzing friends!

Day 322, on my calendar

Postby AluisioASG » Sun Mar 29, 2015 2:08 pm UTC

And I didn't think I'd be such a long time
Before I came down to the other side
'Tis not the plan I made way back home
Oh no, no, no

Spoiler:
Wow. Such beach. Much water. Very light. Wow.

I'd never seen the Frioul from this side. It's amazing.
No words can describe this vision, nor can colors recast this feeling.
And to think I'd miss on something like this.

It's been a really long time.
Alu said these friends of his formed a wonderful community, a culture of their own.
It's been what, three, four generations?
Can such a thing survive for that long?

It's been a long time since I last witnessed this landscape. Not that long, really, but it feels like. I wonder if there's still someone there waiting for me to fulfill my promise. Or if someone remembers me.

Three, maybe four, generations.
Almost no external contact, said Ragnhildr.
I'd like to study them, too.
Part of me would be very happy.
No, no, no, Margrit. These aren't your consenting lab rats.
Or yourself, for what it's worth.
…Maybe help them a little bit?

Um, the boys are discussing. Strategy perhaps?
Damn, why do war plans have to be so secret?
Ragnhildr thinks I should let them be. She's sure they're worth their reputation.
I hope they can deliver it. Her stories about the island's situation are awful.
Speaking of which, I need to get her a nickname. I never get the pronunciation right.

I wonder what life will look like once I'm done. Would it be like in the old times under BlitzGirl? If the stories are true, will we need another her? I hope not. Where would we find one?

Oh, a sketchbook. Cool. The First OTTers, you say?
Yes, they were right. You look a lot like her. Like, an awful lot.
Do you have him in there, by any chance?
“AluisioASG, SAEWITRBASA”. Yes, that's him.
I see you've redrawn it after we met.
I miss him.

I never met any of them, sorry.
Neither had Alu in a while, as I remember.
He used to say they were a nice bunch. And that there should be more people like them in the world.
It's funny, you know?
Sometimes you find you're less assertive than you'd thought.

So many questions, so many possibilities. Still, it's good to be back home. A home, I hope, soon to be returned to its rightful inhabitants. A home, luckily, like I've never seen before.

(Mumble) years ago some friends and I did TV shows at a public access tv station. One of them involved a parody of a daytime interview show (for which, as it turns out, parody is redundant). The director left a camera and mike rolling during our setup and rehearsal, and it captured our thoughts and comments at the time. Some twenty years later we gathered for a reunion, and he played that tape, to our gleeful amusement. We were commenting on the goings on on the tape, and at one point several of us made a series comments that were echoed in the tape a few minutes later, twenty years prior, by the same people, pretty much verbatim.

Alas, nobody recorded that viewing session; it would have been amusing to watch us watch ourselves watching that original tape. And I'll bet that we'd each make the same comments, a few minutes earlier, years hence.

(I had been browsing the coding threads, here, and things led to things.

Yes Balthasar, I thought I had remembered mentioning the cable TV thing, but didn't feel like searching. Besides, redundancy is molpish, right? :)

Spoiler:

Ange and Dominique are ready. And so am I. We must depart now, before the clouds get to the sea or us. I've seen water under a storm; it's not pretty. We go now, or we die trying.

So much for nanorobotic fur. At least I tasted water and not sand.

A howling sea. How wonderful.
Guess we're too late to avoid that storm.
Alu would love seeing this, while screaming to get back to land.
A confusing creature indeed.

He loved rain and storm,
but only once he'd got home;
he'd let the chilly wind onto his face
but curse an air-conditioned room under his breath;
push for technology on everything
but hide it under Mother Nature's wing;
show all signs of love and desire
yet suppress them when I'm finally aware of it.

They have a plan, right? Margrit keeps filling my mind with these thoughts. I know their reputation, and I've told them everything they need to know. Planning or not, they can do this. There isn't margin for error.

Whoa.
Oh. Oops.
Sorry, Alu. Sorry, Minim. Sorry, OTTers.
I hope those books weren't that important.

This is my last entry in this journal. If we succeed, I'll be getting a new one. If we fail, I won't be here to write anywhere anymore. Either way, these pages are done.

Y'know…
I'm not a fighter, actually.
I dunno why I'm coming with them.
I'll only get myself killed faster.
What… what am I thinking?
I came, and I'll stay, to help.
Anyway,
there's no turning back.

Not anymore.

Onwards to the Future.

We've arrived.

I was watching a youtube video copy of a Twitch stream, and I thought if a joke and saw that someone in the Twitch chat (which was part of the stream and thus part of the youtube video) made the same joke as me. So I was pleased that I was not alone in making that joke.

Then I noticed the joker's username was Eternal_density. Oh, I already watched it live and forgot about it, and made the same joke the first time.

Just dropping in to let you guys know that I'm transitioning my website from chronoscreations.net to chronal.net (shorter url, slightly more professional -- its based on my initials instead of an arbitrary pun) so links which I've posted in the Past may break after I take the old domain down near the end of the billing cycle. The Newpix-O-Meter will remain active, but will only be accessible from the new domain (clock.chronal.net) so I will update my sig and I'll try to do the same for my pastposts. Glad to see you guys are still OTTing around at the top of ICT!

(Mumble) years ago some friends and I did TV shows at a public access tv station. One of them involved a parody of a daytime interview show [...] Some twenty years later we gathered for a reunion, and he played that tape, to our gleeful amusement. We were commenting on the goings on on the tape, and at one point several of us made a series comments that were echoed in the tape a few minutes later, twenty years prior, by the same people, pretty much verbatim. [...]

And I remember you telling us this.

Yes, indeed, you told this story in OTT:1924:12, not quite 11 mips ago :D, though by that account the reunion was ten yips (rather than twenty) after the original rehearsal and performance. (Partly ninja'd by @ucimself and @balthalso)

Just for fun, I have been adding some of the Raft-people words, and my automeme derivatives, to the OMD. I had a little fun making up a few more variations, which of course are not canon. (@ucim, your self-imposed puzzle will be hard enough without me adding more constraints.)
An example is VARBRADVAKI. I think of this as having been formed by OTTish-style wordplay from the adjective varbal (meaning "varba-like") and bradva (which I decided is a transitive verb). But varbradvaki is also the perfect tense in the accepted conjugation of bradva, meaning that this varba wordplay must have happened a long time in the Raft-people's aforewhen.

I'm looking forward to the [REDACTED], @AluisioASG!

The original was about 1987-ish. Certainly between 1985 and 1994. Somewhere I have a DVD with the date but it's not handy. The reunion was in 2003.

Oh, and happy RNP Aluisio! And to others who have passed a bunch of zeros without my noting it. :)
