This first bit about my avatar is mainly for the blitzers. During the recent Mod Madness 2015 I changed my avatar about 20 times.
Some time prior to Madness I signed up for the FF00BF BFFs, and noted the warning (from last yip) that avatars might get changed. So I changed my avatar on purpose. That's the Minecraft-like image, #1 in the first row.
In keeping with the Terry Pratchett theme this year, the FF00BF group was called The Wee Free Men. They were encouraged to use an avatar based on cover artwork for the book by that name, and you can find the artwork easily with an image search. The central figure is Sarah "Granny" Aching, who I believe is "dressed as an ornamental shepherdess" (according to a Wikipedia article). I stuck a couple pink mrob27
avatars in with the Nac Mac Feegles themselves. Following the Borglike "assimilate all others" theme of the Empinkening game I then made an mrob27
avatar out of the outline-masked figures from the illustration (top row, #3), then found the original high-res artwork and made the version with all the heads turned into
I kept that one a while, gradually adding OTT-related elements: a molpy, the number "1190" in the abdominal section of Sarah's dress, and the sandcastle "rook".
Then I went through a series of gradually closer closeups of parts of the scene (first three avatars in 2nd
row); the third includes "MOLPY" on a boat lifering.
Just after the end of Madness there was an exchange with @Eternal Density
involving lime-green text, and I made a lime-green version of @ED
's avatar and used it for a little while. Then I switched to the lime version of the thing I had originally planned, a closeup of Granny Aching's mrob27
-ised head. The rest are just a gradual transition back to my original (and present) avatar, which is at the end of the 3rd
row. The fade was inspired by what @ggh
did last yip with the yellow banana slug.

But how do I play? If all I can do is watch it, then I get bored. I guess you're pointing out that watching it is really fun, thus addictive. I guess that's true (for some viewers).
I'll mention again that reddit is too "transient and superficial" for my tastes, and it's hard to read only the comments that I haven't yet read. In any given subreddit, there is a list of top-voted posts. I have to laboriously view each of those posts to see any new comments. Each post has a little thing that says "123 comments" which you can click on to see the comments that have been made on that particular post. It's hard to get it to show me only the comments that I haven't yet seen. How many is that anyway? Maybe I've seen 76 of the 123 comments, so there are 47 that I haven't seen. I can order the comments newest-first, but that doesn't do the job because they're still arranged in a hierarchical outline format (each comment always appears after the comment to which is is a reply) so there'll be some stuff that I've already read among the top 47 items on my screen, and some of the 47 items I haven't read will be further down.
