Ketchup Komplete!

...But I don't have many useful additions, aside from noting that Autocorrupt has come up with some interesting variations on standard terminology.

For instance, it absolutely insists on referring to GnomeAnne as "Gnomiah"!

Therefore, as your Benevolent DM and Popecat, I hereby decree: Come up with some more additions that Autocorrupt would be proud of!

My autocorrect dislikes "Gnomiah" and wants to correct it to gnomon. I was surprised by the unexpected RELATEDness when I looked that one up.

Thanks for sympathy, y'all. I appreciate it.

As for autocorrect, I am way ahead of you:

http://forums3.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&p=4110954#p4110428

But of course it's worse when it thinks everything I write must be Swedish. I thought I had activated an English dictionary, too, in the settings, but I guess I forgot to press OK somewhere in the GUI.

Just now it tried to correct "thought" to "yvigt". Well, it did manage to keep two of the original letters - not bad. I don't know what "yvigt" would be in English, but I will ask Google Translate... hm, "bushy". It must mean that my thoughts are very nearly treeish!

But Gnomiah? Is that even a word? Sounds like some Old Testament figure of small stature, yes?

Speaking of Swedish, I recently realized that I had used the word "pergament" in a post half a yip ago, but that spelling isn't as international as I thought. Should have been "parchment" in English. But I suppose you could figure that out.

Yes, I included an
"actual useful manual"
I'm not good at writing manuals but the part about batteries and power supplies is understandable I think.
There was also a handwritten letter with additional explanations.

Also, using the switch behind would be enough to turn it on.

Why did I send it to them?
I thought they would like the non-standard calculator functionality.
How often do you see a working calculator which has only 3 buttons?

Actually, their videos were the inspiration to add the calculator functionality to the STAF.

As I said before I made 6.
The first one I left in Bochum and it was later organised that it was given to SilentTimer.
The first one has an earlier version of the software (1.1 or 1.0, I think)
The second one is at my home and it wakes me up in the morning.
Then I designed the PCB for it. I ordered 3 but received 4. So I made 4 more STAFs.
One is on my desk in my FFS and I use it to see what time it is.
One has the buzzer replaced with a small speaker (and a filter circuit) and has the sound playing software installed.
One was sent to Numberphile.
One was given to some person.

I copied the bike from another frame, but then I thought it might not work very well on earth with no spokes, since there is more gravity than on the moon, so I added some.

I made the handlebars curve down instead of up by mistake as well.

I know about taking a frame out of a bike, but taking a bike out of a frame is new to me :)

I made the handlebars curve down instead of up by mistake as well.
I'm never consistent about handlebars so whatever.

Handlebar related story:
I was riding a bike without holding the handlebars.
completely relaxed.
The handlebars were curved towards me.
I turned left.
When the bike turned left the handlebars rotated too.
Suddenly, I accidentally kicked the handlebar with my knee.
I don't know how I was able to prevent myself from falling.

I was riding down a long hill once and decided it would be a good idea to try to stand on the pedals without touching the handlebars. I had to grip the seat between my knees to keep the bike from wobbling, and I wasn't able to pedal, but it worked until I got to the bottom and tried to go around a turn.
I hit a tree instead.

You mean, he appears to be manipulating but the secret truth is that he isn't really? Now my head is spinning. I have been thinking of those logic puzzles where there are two tribes on some island and one tribe always lies while the other one is always truthful. My theory in January and February was that the horrible carpenter was always lying, and that was probably a better assumption than the opposite one. Unfortunately, it made me believe that he wouldn't really sue me but was just trying to scare me by threatening to do so.

Before I find another carpenter I shall carefully study https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hardest_Logic_Puzzle_Ever.

Thank you. Yeah, I have been thinking about that. We have a site called Rejta, which might interest Etymology-Man: you take the English verb "rate", and then you just listen to the sounds and spell it like a Swede, and then you add the final -a to make it a regular Swedish verb in the infinitive form; at least I think that's the etymology. I thought maybe I should wait some weeks and then give him a rating of two of five stars: in that way, he may not figure out that it's a rating from me, since he would expect me to give only one star! (What? No, I am never deceptive.)

Oh, but you are.

If it doesn't have one, the wiki needs a titles and honorifics section.

I just noticed balthasar_s's denial from November, and I'll add that I agree with SBN. Also, since you (balthasar_s) are creative and inventive, calling you "The Professor" in poetry might be regarded as a kenning, the kind of metaphor that makes old Icelandic poetry so incomprehensible, even when translated, I mean. And then I read the Wikipedia article on kenning and realized that Icelandic poets would probably have felt at home with the OTT jargon. There are simple kennings, like "sea-steed" for ship and "slayer of giants" for Thor. But then there are recursive kennings: to understand "feeder of war-gull", you must first figure out that "war-gull" is a kenning for raven, and then figure out that "feeder of raven" is a kenning not for a zookeeper but for a warrior. The recursive nesting can be even deeper, up to seven elements have been used, but apparently the great Snorri thought that using more than five was extravagant. Yeah, you must draw the line somewhere!

According to Wikipedia, the longest known kenning is nausta blakks hlé-mána gífrs drífu gim-slöngvir “fire-brandisher of blizzard of ogress of protection-moon of steed of boat-shed”, which simply means "warrior". I know it must be true since I found it on the Internet. Or if someone has vandalized the kenning entry on Wikipedia, I swear it wasn't me.

It does not.
1. Since it can co only one operation at a time and only remembers one result there is no advantage of using Reverse Polish.
2. If it worked in Reverse Polish I would have to enter the two numbers first and the operation later. People using it would have no idea what's going on.

I know that's supposed to be a form of "yappocise," but it reminds me far too much of words like "incision" and thus conjures up rather gruesome images of what actually caused the pool to be closed...

I have things I want to say, but can't reply right now, but I was just looking at the state of my browser on my main sand and wanted to share:

I'm using Chrome. There are two windows open. The one I never look at has four tabs open, all on the subject of language stuff I want to read some day in the hopes that it will lead to a revelation about Beanish. The other window has 38 tabs open. 21 of them are the OTT. Sometimes I see something and I want to look at more, or reply to - or I even start to reply - but I can't do it then, so I leave the tab open to remind me. Then there are 11 other OTTish tabs, like the wiki, replay, moonbase, OTT dnd game, etc. There are 4 tabs open for Outside stuff, and 2 tabs that I don't actually know what they are, but I think they may be dead links to a movie I got by entering codes from Corn Flakes boxes.

So, know that even when I'm not posting, I'm still pretty amongst you. :)

(Oh, and Gingercat is right - in both regards)

ETA: My sand is full. I'm looking for pictures to backup and delete. May 2014, your Time has come. But before it goes offline, I'd like to share a picture of the Little Wonder - not even 2 then, and she's following in my footsteps, trying to figure out what balthasar is up to.
Spoiler:
If you click it, it might orient itself correctly.

Oh, I'll testify that she certainly is. But in raw adorableness, she's second to the Little Wonder.

In other news, Fractories has become devoted to the First Commandment again. We know what to do.

Todip is our first dip in what seems like wips without rain. Got a little yesterdip, a bit more Sunday mornip, a bunch on Saturday, and overall at least a bit of rain on 15 of the last 18 dips (according to the weather records I just looked up).

Thursday is supposed to be hot, then stormy. Todip's nice weather will not last long.
