Maybe the bots' erratic behavior is from getting EMPed by the Antares supernova?

I EE:EE:EE, THEREFORE I POST

Postby mrob27 » Wed Nov 11, 2015 3:58 pm UTC

A very appropriate decree… While contemplating the mysteries of the robotruckyesbotmobile, I looked at the bftf frame I just referenced and began wandering forward…
Image

Those two letters "N" and "D" are rather noticeable, sitting on top of one another like that. Neither letter is REDUNDANT as such… but then I saw it:
Image

On noes! A demonic hidden message! What can this mean?

Continuing, I got to bftf-0257. This image has a URL that needs to be sustainabilised:

Image
original image

The most straightforward way to sustainabilise the image is to just take the pixels (all but the scroll bar) and move to the left to cover up the "dnsd.". The result would look something like this:
Image
bftf-0257, sustainabilised

One might wonder, what goes in the empty boxes? We can look to the previous frame (bftf-0256) for clues:
Image

Oh-oh.
Image
E : E : e !

I started to get really worried, and then noticed the spoilertitletext. Since @balthasar_s likes to use hexadecimal and palettes with 4×4 entries, it makes sense to arrange the letters in groups of 16:

Code: Select all

 I'd highly recom
 mEnd following t
hE first command       <-- (e:e:emphasis added)
 mEnt.

Once again, there are three e's arranged in a vertical row! Image E:E:E!
Of course, this would all have nothing to do with the robotruckyesbotmobile, except for this, and this.
Image
EEE:EEE:EEE

At this point I decided I need to stop. Perhaps others can analyse The bftf Code and discover some clues that are more encouraging and molpish.

 mrob27 Image

P.S. @moody7277, I like the E:E:EMP e:e:erraticity e:e:explanation. Image Ack!

PUNSAW THE OLDPICES... WITH YOUR REDUNDABIKES

Postby NoMouse » Wed Nov 11, 2015 5:44 pm UTC

Look, they combined the mirror and the tripod into a giant matchstick.
Time. The final frontier. These are the voyages of Cueball and Megan. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Yeah, that was how I saw it, too.

Or maybe a karaoke microphone.

There was a "cultural week" in Gothenburg some years ago (as opposed to the 51 uncultured ones.). And someone had coreographed a ballet for three excavators. I didn't see it live, but there was a clip on local TV. Pretty neat.

So, perhaps blackrobot has been dancing for us. Now, the as yet undecoded music has ended, so ballerinabot has left the stage. Tinybot could have been a stagehand.

Fixed with mrob27's help.
Now all that's left is:
  • Figure out a proper timeframes/second rate;
  • Decide which frames deserve more time than others (and how much).

Unfortunately, without knowing what the liquid is it would be difficult to estimate. It could have any value in a wide range of density and viscosity. The diffusion images may give us some clues as it has to be able to mix with sea water, but the times between frames aren't known and that's a significant variable.

WE'RE GONNA NEED A MORE SEAISH LOOPIST

Postby mrob27 » Fri Nov 13, 2015 4:28 am UTC

lmjb964 wrote: Anyone care to do an analysis of the flow of the mystery liquid versus the volume of the truck? :D

How do we even know it's the same truck?
I interpret your comment to be a suggestion that we might wish to estimate how much liquid has poured into the sea between frame t-1enh_0202 (when it started) and t-1enh_0352 (when it came into view again).
The truck might have driven away, and be replaced by a new truck, while we were watching the roboconveyoryesbotmobile.
As @slinches points out, the density and viscosity of the liquid, and the time between frames would be needed to make such an estimate. Even more fundamentally, we don't even know the size dimensions (e.g. the vertical distance from the hose to the surface of the water, length of the truck, etc.) and that would affect the calculation even more — so there is too much guesswork even if we took the density and viscosity to be, say, the same as coffeesemencancerbabystarsandsnowonice.
Oh, and there might even be a Spaaace-Time portal inside the truck :D

(Edits: Add more to the truck response.
In this latest frame it's pretty clear the tank-truck has the same "rust" markings. But it's still worth speculating about what may have happened whilst it was out of view.)

I'm so sorry - I fell into that trap again - the trap of not saying anything until I could properly ketchup, and of course, properly ketching up gets harder every day. I've been here, lurking, for the last two weeks, just not saying much.

But last night, I, too, had an OTTish dream, so I must relay what little of it I remember before I forget it completely:
My wandering subconscious wrote:I was in a place that at first seemed like an exhibition opening in an art gallery. Immediately upon entering, we guests were faced with a display of GLR's work, set in the middle of a long white wall. It was an evening about celebrating something he had done, but I'm fuzzy on exactly what that thing was. It might have been Time itself, but I don't think so. Maybe it was Time 2, or it could have been one of the TimeAfterTimes (yeah, I know. A dream, remember?) I think frames were playing in a small bright viewer, and there were other bits on display that I can't remember at all, but that may have included things like What If books and the Hugo, glowing reviews and early sketches. What did stick in my brain was a narrow shelf at about eye-level with a row of beautiful and colourful cupcakes. I have the impression that these somehow depicted frames in the celebrated work, and the competing impression that they were decorated with wavy stripes of stiff frosting rising delicately up and to the right, maybe three inches or so (~8cm), with each cupcake having a different colour frosting. Somehow this display celebrated and summed up the achievement, and all the effort that went into it, so beautifully that I got all choked up looking at it.

At some point, the space behind the long white wall started seeming less like an art gallery and more like a great Mexican restaurant the Little Wonder and I frequent, but kitted out for this private function with couches and dim, let's-have-a-drink lighting. The GLR was there, and I hope he was enjoying himself, but unfortunately I don't think many folks were talking to him. I'm not sure whether it was because they were intimidated or because they were just the wrong people to appreciate the opportunity. They weren't OTTers. I think many were just people who live around here. One I remember in particular is a giant of a Welshman with the singing voice of an angel and a personal connection to Taixzo's avatar. He kept kinda staring at the OTA from different angles without saying anything, and I tried to cut through the awkwardness by introducing them. I'm not sure how well it worked though, because I think I woke up around then.

I will try to ketchup soon... maybe in little bits here and there. Sorry 'bout that.
Requested a magnet? I'm sorry I'm so super-slow, but you will get it

Prediction Time: (or a prediction about Time sequel t-1, rather)

Sometime in the next few frames, a large squiggle will start to appear on the seismograph and the beanies will lose their balance. After that, things will get exciting.

I would say that's a reflection of a pylon of the bridge-thingy we've seen here:

I was going to suggest the same thing. Likely one of the bridge towers.

I do get the feeling that it must be something moving then, otherwise the angles wouldn't fit?

Such a wonderful OTTification — thanks for linking to it!

And this is relevant:

Yes.

I suppose this is a sensitive area with those (most of us) who lived through T** **d… but I've always thought the tempo of Time is about right all the way through. They rush after learning that their people are doomed, because, well, if they didn't rush, their people would be doomed. The story moves quickly because that's how it would really happen.

lmjb1964 wrote:mrob, your analysis of bftd blew my mind.

I was in a ε mood… it's sort of a parody of The Bible Code (a book that popularised Bible code about 20 yips ago).

What I see is that the camera is moving to the left, as evidenced by our view of the "pavement" at the bottom of the frame. Parallax is causing the relative heading of the truck, as measured in relation to that of the pylon, to be increasingly rightward (or equivalently, the heading of the pylon is increasingly leftward as compared to that of the truck).

Yes, the camera position is moving to the left (probably on an arc centered somewhere out in the water past the tankerbot) as the camera focus point pans right. This is causing the perception of accelerated motion of the background relative to the rest of the scene.
