So any guesses on where they are?

if they didn't change direction since the stars at night, they were heading south!

Closing time, every new beginning...

I never thought it'd be over so suddenly!

Anyway, I never posted much but I lurked a lot, and I must say it was a lot of fun here in the OTT, and while my friends thought I was nuts and obsessed, coming here on my lunch breaks, and in my down times was the highlight of the past several months for me, even if I didn't say much.

It's been wonderful Waiting and Running (and "..." ? ) with you guys.

Seriously.

It's sad it's over, but give Randall a break; it's been MONTHS of work for him. I'm still going to lurk here for a while, though. Some habits are hard to break...

And, look, they've landed on a strong upslope; they've got a map, they've got a Plan; they'll be ok.

I guess that's the plus side of having missed so many pages in the past. I still have lots of OTT to read. But...next week I was finally going to have free time, and post stuff, and give you things I've been working on, and, and, and...

Considering the success of the OTC, when does the sequel go into production. Every good story these days gets a sequel... right?

It makes sense to end here. I prefer open-ended conclusions anyways, so this works as an ending for me: the Forty are safe, along with a good deal of their possessions; the rafts can easily be remade into structures, and they've got new land to explore!

The Aphorism that "All Good Things Must Come To And End"... seems never more true.

There's lot's of crap that seems to go on forever, but this was good. And it seems that it has now run it's course.

Dang.

The fact that this happened so soon after 50,000 posts makes me wonder if GLR was just waiting for the first convenient ending place after reaching a comment milestone. That or he saw the posts by HereBeUnmappedBits and Fictioneer and though "Hey. that's a good idea."

I want to add my thanks both to Randall and to all of you. And to reiterate something I posted not too long ago. Do something to say thanks to him, buy something from his store, pay him back a little for all that he has brought into your life. And do something in your life to remember all of us here, take up a new exercise program to get healthy, educate yourself on a topic you've always been interested in, do some volunteer work, join a board gaming group and make some new friends, whatever you can think of, but do something positive, and do it in memory of all of us.

I'd say 1hr 45min*. When there's no change after an hour, we'll assumehope that it's another time shift and the newpix will be every 2 hours instead of one.

There will be a Season 2! I *want* a Season 2! Even if it's next year or what! And above all, I don't want the OTT to end. :( Well, even if it doesn't "end" for a few days/weeks, there'll be less people there. :(

I think we've established that the Randallswhimsyists were right about the Teleology of Time.

And I'd just started downloading bathymetry data to work up a sim of how long (relatively speaking) the pauses would be as the sea spilt over into the Tyrrhenian and Ionian basins. Probably not worth bothering now. Unless someone who is more creative than me in other areas would want it as a basis for future fanfic?

Randall obviously leaves the door open to one or more sequels. But I can see where he has to recharge - producing 3089 frames most have been grueling.

And - I'd need a little time to plan, but maybe I can invite people in my part of the world (I get the distinct impression that charlie grumbles and Kieyrn, at the very least, inhabit it) up the river and into the hills to look at a wowterfall or two? (Duration of trip and amount of rock scrambling can be tailored to the abilities and desires of the participants.) It seems as if getting some bags and going to find out would be an appropriate ending Outside.
All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full.
Unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

The weeping OTTers sang a mournful song,
As lo!, The tale of Time did end ere long.
And, crushing what he'd chanced to shape in play,
The Great Lord Randall blew his world away.

- the last two lines after the style of HP Lovecraft.
