It's a contest to make a game based on an xkcd strip of your choosing in a weekend. I always thought about doing a simple game where you get to walk around the world of Time but I never really found the... well you know the rest. Anyway, maybe one of you can do Time justice in the interactive medium.

Hey ergman, thanks for posting this! Someone told me I should join the forum and make a post about it / try and let Randall know about it, so here I am!

Gotta get my 5 posts in first. Guess this is #1.

And yeah, Time would be an awesome one, if anyone has that level of ambition!

Of course. A lock, like an airlock or something of the sort. Now I recognize that "śluza" is related to German "Schleuse" and (with a different, though related meaning) English "sluice".

We might want to reopen the airlock to the OTT, seems many are locked outside.

We always call the double gates they have at wolpy-parks airlocks. Sometimes we do mission control-type things when going through -

"Cleared to open outer door"
"Outer door open"
"All occupants in airlock, close outer door"
"Outer door closed"
"Cleared to open inner door"
"Inner Door opening"

...

Considering what you made based on Time, I have complete faith that you can make something great from pretty much any Othercomic :)
But that opinion may be a tad heretical. I'll show myself to the comfy chair.

While I fear this particular lifemustard will take a long time to recover from due to its high levels of mustardishness, there are molpish things afoot to help distract me... I'm just gonna repost this old ottification becauuuuse... I've recently found out I've got the part of Lancelot in an upcoming production of the musical Spamalot, so I will actually be performing that song (though sadly in its original non-ottified form) in the actual musical!

I would so love to see you in that show! I think you should slip in a few words from the OTTified version and see if anyone notices. The words go by pretty quickly. :) It's great that you are getting into theater, on and off the stage!

Anything with Time, is of course, awesomeful and holy. But anything you do with any comic with no doubt be awesomeful, and a little heresy never hurt anyone. Now I'll just take this bowl of chocolates and go sit in the comfy chair with karhell. :)

ETA Thanks for the sweet hummingbird video, addams. It seems like it would be dangerous for the parent bird to feed those little mouths with their long beaks. I guess they figure it out, though.

I opened my computer after a night-time hiatus and tried to update my Time page, only to get a "sql error" message. Since I always read "sql" as "squirrel", I thought "molpies", and so I calmed down a bit, and before too long it was better.

In the meantime there are some blinkenlights. I was about to say "There are FOUR lights" ... but then I looked closely and realised that there really ARE five.

I think.

There is a programming language "Squirrel".
So you can get a squirrel error if you want.
Actually, it's the language in which the computer players in the game OTTD are programmed.
So you can have railways built by squirrel.

Every now and then, I hear a robotic voice telling me that the xkcd website has stopped working for a while, and I think of you… About 24 nopix ago, there was some server m*stard. It didn't last more than a nopix.

Here are a couple RELATED videos I watched recently:

It's random for me.
You have to give us much more information in order for me or anyone else to have any idea what's it's doing for you.
The memes that you can get depend greatly on the pattern you specify. Some patterns give no memes at all (you'll just keep getting the "Sorry, I could not find a match…" message).

I love it. The tech support person's suggestion appears to be a reference to Othercomic 349. The great thing about that OtherComic, it leaves to the reader's imagination whether Cuegan voluntarily molpied off somewhere and wound up in the sea (it happens to the best of us), or whether the sea rose up around them whilst Cueball was busy trying to get the dual-boot working.

@addams, thank you for your continued presence! I appreciate the intermittent piecewise reveal of your goings-on.

... I thought this thread was for discussing one motion-picture comic. I come back after a few years, and it's still going, and seems to be some sort of MSPA-inspired comic of people making choices?

Can someone explain this thread to me?

Possibly not.

The thread -- both its content and its continued existence -- is, in all likelihood, inexplicable, but it is a wowterful place to be. Time (xkcd 1190) is still discussed, but the contributors to this thread have also created a creative and caring space in which the original comic has inspired other contributor-generated comics (prequels, sequels, parallels, and other ephemera (all related, because everything is related)), poetry, interpretations, inspirations, vocabulary, and such like.

You could, as some have done, embark on an ambitious and holy quest to read the whole thread, which will bring enlightenment but not necessarily full understanding (to quote Time itself "We don't understand everything yet" ... "But that's what the first part of understanding everything looks like"). You could check out the wiki (http://xkcd-time.wikia.com/wiki/XKCD_Time_Wiki), which may help with some explanation. Or, you could just read along from now, and ask questions and people will make you feel welcome.

Welcome, Keybounce, Revealer the Recent.

Can someone explain this thread to me?
Time was a big thing. It has a big effect on us. The end.
Actually, not.
Even when Time was still running people were making pictures, songs, etc. based on Time.
Fanart, that's how those things are called outside, right?
When Time ended. there was no reason to stop doing this.
For some reason at that time this thread has also become its own thing.
So if we ran out of Time we can make some new Time, right?
Fan fiction is a thing that exists in this world.
So something both expected and unexpected started happening:
Some very short stories, in the same format as Time (same frame size, similar drawing style, new frames appearing every some time) were made: Prickly, POTMM and Lucky

Later, someone (Waveney) did a more serious attempt: Beany and Bean2 is an a little longer story in two parts about some events with these beanied guys from Time.

And then came t1i. A story with over 1000 frames, drawn in at a level almost like Randall's, telling some story of the Characters' adventures after the events of Time. This was a great thing. It was done some well that some thought for some time that it could be done by Randall himself. (The author of t1i is very mysterious).

And then we had another thing, t-1, a story about the events before Time, with a second story hidden steganographically inside the frames. (the second story was no longer in the style of time, it was 3d-generated and colorful).

And we had the Zanclean Zodiac. A starry thing which I don't know how to explain.

All these are in the same format as Time, same frame size, similar style, the same world, same characters.
But what if we tried something else.

BFTF is a thing that didn't even try to be a Time After Time (that's how those things are called). different size, different style, different world. It's a story about some guys in a secret base on the moon finding out about Time and this thread.
Yeah, this kind of thing...

And the thing you are seeing now (BSTA) is even further away from the idea. The format is similar to MSPA, the style similar to BFTF, and the story... so far no direct relatedness to Time could be noticed. there is some relatedness to BFTF which is somehow related to this thread (and Time). But it's still going on so who knows?

So it looks like a story (Time) created a space which attracted people who like doing stories. And they did.
To my big surprise, I did.

Thank you, balthasar, you explained it perfectly, and beautifully.

Well, six, actually.
But the idea is the important thing.

(Sorry, I just had to make that p*n. Hopefully my blitz continuation should restart shortly.)
(BTW, does anyone have any guesses about the meaning of my sig?)
(And to anyone who still celebrates it - happy belated centennial of the October Revolution!)
There are two films that I particularly like.
One of them is a science-fiction dramatic comedy involving a boy who accidentally travelled in time. Extremely popular when it originally came out in 1985, it retains a major cult following to this day.
The other one, of course, is Back to the Future.

Ooh, there are too. The idea may, indeed, be the important thing, but it's clear I don't have it!

First QONG of the week.

With GnomeAnne gone on adventure I'm not sure if anyone is still reading along anymore. I'd love to hear if anyone is, even if you don't have anything more to say about it.
