It's not an actual 404. It's a "server not found".
The links go to %78%6b%63%64.modularthought.com. %78%6b%63%64 is "xkcd" URLencoded.
My browser (Iceweasel 38.7.1) decodes the xkcd correctly and I get the correct URL n the address bar.
But it does not decode it when doing a DNS lookup to find the server. And therefore it fails to find it.

Nice! What did you get? Discount price?

I got a Cosmos IV from PCSPECIALIST. They sell customisable no-brand laptops, so they're really cheap compared to the big brands. Specs:
Display: 17.3" matte Full HD (1920x1080 resolution)
CPU: Intel i7 6700HQ quad core (hyperthreaded, so it shows up as octacore in Linux 8-) )
MALESHEEPY (<-- still love this word; thanks ED!): 16GB, 1600MHz
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530
HDD: 1TB, SATA2 5400RPM
SSD: SanDisk X400 M.2, 128GB
OS: none OTTB OOTB; running Gentoo Linux now

Total cost: €868.02, which includes credit card charges, shipping to the Netherlands and extra 1-year parts and collect & return warranty. No discount price, but I bought it the day after the Brexit announcement, so I got 16GB MALESHEEPY instead of 8 for the same price because the exchange rates were ch*rped up in my favour. :)

Sorry for not posting here (putting off ketchup) while taking part elsewhere in the forums taking me past a RNM, even. Have been being fairly busy with outside stuff, fortunately including molpish results. Ketchup to follow, hopefully, another time.

Ah. Thanks for finding the mustard for addams (and you)! (The preview of the link doesn't even show that it's URL encoded, so I couldn't see what the issue could have been.) I simply changed it back to "xkcd". (It was changed during the moadness because of ridiculous filters. No need for it the rest of the time.) Should be no problem now.

Thanks, Link. Sounds pretty great. I'm more in the market for a tablet (Android), but of course a lot of what I do works better with a real computer/lapleopard. One day.

That framing makes sense. As an atheist, I think of religion as a form of social structure composed of rituals and organizations developed by humans for various ends, and deities as a component of that.

A theist, on the other hand, may believe that man was created in the image of God.

Depends whether pottery is "true" or not.

Religion is a creation of people, which then "has" people. The impetus for people to create a religion may come from the gods, if the gods exist and if they care. In that case, the religion in question probably includes gods and their trappings. And that religion may itself be TRUE or FALSE, depending on whether the gods want to ch*rp with us for their entertainment or not.

But if the gods do not exist, then the impetus to create religion must come from the people. And in that case, the religion(s) in question may or may not includes gods.

Oh, and "dawwww!"

Molpy GO should generate new molpies in your area once per newpix.

You should use molpies you find to help build sandcastles in interesting places.

Based on the action (rather than a Beanish dictionary), I'd say that Rosetta is saying (to the three Beanies) something like "Thank you, leave them here with me." and the Beanie responds to her: "ok" (or something like that).

Makes sense to me... "Are you ok with this?" But... it would presume that the Beanie thought Cueball understood what Rosetta was saying. (Cueball: "Am I ok with what?"). It's reasonable for the Beanie to see that the Cuegan understand "ok", but the rest? Not so much. Especially since they brought them to Rosetta because they didn't understand.

So, I still lean towards my interpretation, and that Cueball is just looking back to see what the Beanie's reaction is (which would give him a clue as to what she said).

*snip*

A wild link to what looks to be a repository of information about OTTerCon has appeared! Treeish! I was hoping to stumble upon something like this, turns out I only had to
Spoiler:
follow the first commandment.
Which I'll have to do even more now, since my MFFS won't allow me to open the link on my MFFSTA. Though at least now there's a known limit on how long it'll be, but now that I say that it almost feels like cheating...

[blindETA=NP2442]

I knew that my ability to watch t-1 was tenuous at best... for some reason, I can see embedded images from 1190.botm.info, but only after refreshing the page once, and I can't open any browser pages from 1190.botm.info, and if I try to open an image URL in a browser tab it seems to mustard my ability to access the embedded version of it forever. And, starting with t-1_0724 NPB is embedding images from cm.com, which I can't access at all. But, I seem to have found a workaround, as I can embed the 1190.botm.info image link in a new post, and then hit Preview, and then hit Preview again to view it. Hopefully NPB switches back before too long......

[/blindETA]

[blindETA=NP2446]

When I asked NPB to change, I didn't mean for xer to stop ONGing entirely... I haven't seen any new ONGs in about 3NP :(

ETA: NPB came back later that NP! Whew!

Does the basement ever end?

Good luck to all the Blitzers out there!

There's circumcision. So, in your (theoretical person's) religion, God gave you a foreskin then said "chop that motha off!" Really?

I think it should be okay to blitz up to the point where Time ended or whatever, like before the OTT gets very cyclical (self-analysis and "replays"). Maybe that's called Phase One (all the way up until the end) and Phase Two (T1i), et al.

Well, that's only one example. But to me, it belongs as a subset of culture--which is itself a fuzzy concept.

Under that chronology, I just about finished phase 2 before past-me went off to have a Long Pint. I'll still finish. I just need a breather and some more motivation to do so. And when my internet becomes unchirped.

Well, it's not the first time he made a mistake. According to the historical documents, he went all Zanclean and Noah had to make a raftcastle. But not out of sand, alas. And from then on, pots of gold became easy to locate, but hard to find. Then there was the time his assistant had to go back up the mountain to get another copy of the two commandments. I guess he doesn't pick his assistants well.

Ch*rp, even the Great Lord Randall made mustard. But as First Cleric wisely pointed out, Mustard makes the world go round.

HES wrote:Anyone have a time machine to hand?
I had one but when I went to hand it, it went the wrong way. That was pretty underhanded, and it was too late to reverse the polarity. (Which is, btw, one of the things they had to do on Apollo 13, amusingly enough). They didn't have a time machine to hand either.
