What's this new development that occured while I was working^? Greyness? Odd.
A post a little earlier reminded me of: "Area 51: Shades of Greys."

Also, what would happen if you were bitten by a radioactive baby?

Well yes. I think the removal of the datestamps after that graph was published is evidence of that too. And I note my idea of a mysterious figure emerging in the final frame before whiteout coincided with what actually happened, too. If he's not reading, he's getting highlights from someone.

But what does it mean?!

(oh and has the mustard been rectified in the earlier frames?)

I think he actually hasn't noticed. I think when he drew this frame, somehow he had the correct black again, but when he drew over the last frame, a sliver of the mustard was untouched.

I note that M&C are no longer made of mustard.

This shows that he did a bucket fill of black. Probably did it without even knowing he did it. It has filled in the mustard but left the outline of it and the lines because the bucket fill only fills one colour and the bits left are darker shades of mustard.

Agreed. Humour-wise, these last couple of pages have been the worst of the entire thread, in my opinion. Not that I'm all that witty or anything, but.. I'm just hoping it'll be over soon.

I might be able to help you out here, dreiarmumig, and any others with a bug in their humour processor. Try this joke:

A cow goes into a pharmacy and asks for a loaf of black bread.
The Pharmacist says "I'm sorry, we only have white bread.
Says the cow "doesn't matter, I came on my bike".

I'll leave you to ponder that before I return with the explanation.

I'm kind of a fairly serious amateur linguist. When entering college*, linguist was my second choice of career options, and it was a very near thing. And yes, in particular, in my last post, I was considering adding yet another added:

(I once meta BlitzGirl . . . .)

I was going to point out that it's especially hard to figure which way the transitivity goes when the word has only recently been verbed, so there's very little precedent to demonstrate its "normal" usage.

* I've referenced the Bug "Epoch fail!" comic a time or two already, I think. There's a reason I'm so fond of that one; I predate the epoch in question by merely 51,300 seconds. So, there's my day-I-was-born bit, and gives a reasonable idea when I was heading to college.

Rule110 wrote:To return for the moment to a very old subtopic... It's pretty clear at this point that Cuegan's world is three dimensional after all, despite much speculation and near consensus, hundreds of newpages ago, that it was not.

The best argument for the lack of a complete third dimension was the effectiveness of the first dike (dyke), which appeared to somehow prevent any semencoffeecancerbaby from flowing around it. However, there is an alternative plausible explanation for that, which I don't recall seeing brought up. That is, if the edge of the sea (which is big and does what it wants) at the sandcastling place were actually the narrow tip of an inlet. That would require there to be slightly higher ground, at the cancerbabycoffeesemen's edge, in front of and behind the cross-sectional slice we were viewing, to contain the inlet. The first di(y)ke only needed to block off the inlet by spanning between the unseen higher ground in front and behind.

By the time of the larger second dy(i)ke, the coffeesemenbabycancer would have overflowed the sides of the original inlet and would then be approaching the castles on a wider front. So the second dyke (dike), even though it was larger, did soon allow the babycancersemencoffee to flow around it, making it less effective as we saw.

If you try to make a three d model of this and photograph it from our point of view you will see the error. There will be land artefacts in front of the liquid artefact which are higher than the liqart.

The OTT has been such a distraction that I have missed the arrival of THREE Other Comics. Three! AND there were reminders.

"Is it worth the time?" seemed particularly pertinent, especially when trying to figure out how to BlitzGirl faster through today's explosion of NewPages. Fortunately these were largely just a consequence of people dumping a bag full of puns into the mix. Oh, and some momentous reappearances.

(And I too need to express admiration for the BlitzGirl masterpiece. Straight to the poolroom with that.)

Only that it's indeed big.

Was it Douglas Adams who had a character standing on a beach looking out at the Pacific Ocean and saying "I thought it would be bigger than this"?

whoa, i'm finally present again! needle-pulled-thingie activity was through the roof lately, with the OTC new scene, helper returning, Hal returning, mustard and all.

i like the idea of multi-nerdsniping going on here.

LordRandall making errors is certainly not unheard of. he has often fixed spelling or other details in his earier comics. but a wrong color, that is a first. but then, he had to get another comic ready for today, and a what-if yesterday, so maybe he was in a hurry, or in desperate need for coma. oh well, we will just need to keep an eye on those frames and watch for changes.

and now i'm going to watch aubronwood again for the first time since the fading. couldn't spoiler myself while catching up.

He woke up, didn't really know how he got there
Wasn't too sure why neither
A believer of sorts
Just not too sure what sort of belief to believe in
So when the sun goes down each evening
he looks to the sky for a reason
Wonders what's behind the horizon
so he packs light and he's off and he's leaving
So he walks on looking for something
But just what it is, well he wasn't too sure
So he walked all day, then he walked all night
Then he walked all year, then he walked some more
Then he... then he stopped
Took a look around to just see where he'd got to
Didn't recognise the spot so he took it all in
Got his things, and he up and moved on

The rest of the speech made some sort of sense, but that's just odd. I'm sure this has been discussed to death (and perhaps even a papal scism leading to a crusade, given what I've seen of this thread) - any insights?

I always felt that the text had been ignored. It was turned into a chant, but I haven't seen any serious (snigger) attempt to close read it. It's as if we the people believed the words just dropped out of a cracker.

I was trying to avoid becoming another long-term TimeTraveler, giving updates from the past, but now I really must coma. Progress: NP 476/481. I sorta feel like I had less trouble keeping up back when the first posting spike occured, but I'm probably just having a delusional memory.

OTC/OTT version of http://xkcd.com/1052/

I think she should stick with what inspires her. Not sure our suggestions will create gold. But, my suggestion is that she create an original based on a Song of Time, or a Haiku of Time (probably with multiple haiku). Stick with what she loves. Pretty soon she'll have a comic following and maybe even a religion. heh ;)

Has Randall read it all?

Being told that he hasn't by "reliable sources" he would have to BlitzRun this thread and probably forsake his holy frame drawing duties. We would sit around mourning the end. A month later, they're back with just as little warning. Yeah, maybe not. Hopefully he's just getting fed our yummy scraps.
