We're all a little bit crazy here (it's the effect of Waiting For It) so it's not unusual for any of us either.

I'm definitely crazy, for a start.

And now, to burst into song.
It's not unusual(in the OTT)
Spoiler:
It's not unusual to be be strange in the OTT,
It's not unusual to have fun in the OTT,
But when I see you not posting all your thoughs
It's not unusual to see me cry, Not gonna lie

It's not unusual to stay in post like me,
But when I see you went out and about it's Heresy,
If you should ever wanna be post and be quoted,
It's not unusual, it happens every Newpix,
No matter what you say
You'll find it happens all from Time

The thread will never do, what you want it to
Oh yes, this crazy Thread is fine.

It's not unusual to be silly with OTT,
It's not unusual to be sad with OTT
But if I ever find that you've left the OTT
It's not unusual, that we're sad for the loss of you

The other Jabberwocky is also excellent, but I think has a bit of a scan problem in the verse:
Fear the molpyraptor, Megan!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the the ninjashark! And shun
the beesnakes that seek your snatch!

I'd propose:
Fear the molpyraptor, Cue!
[...] and shun
the unnamed berry patch.

I like it! I agree it scans better. . .and I like the reference to the "unnamed berry patch".

Is Jabberwiki in the walky. . .I mean, is Jabberwalky in the wiki yet? I didn't see it there. If not, I suppose I can figure out how to add it.

By the way: love the new parodies of "Jukebox Hero" and "It's Not Unusual"!

ETA: I went ahead and created an entry in the wiki for Jabberwalky. Please take a look - especially if you were one of the contributors, to make sure I gave credit where credit is due!

What's a 'gift rain'? Is it a present that's basically precipitation?

It's rain unasked for and unearned. Or, possibly, It's a present present from the sea.

After all, so far we have molpies (we didn't really get to identify what the original molpy was, I don't think), molpyraptors (I seem to recall someone calling the birds that at some point), molpyflies, molpysquirrels, and now the molpysnake.

I concur. Although, I refer to the small birds as molpy herons and the large, soaring one as a Time Raptor. Perhaps there should be some kind of size threshold for the molpy-prefix?

Well, because I just hear the song on the radio, and because I'm in a music making mood;

Goodbye LaPetite(A sancastle on the sea
Spoiler:
To the tune of candle in the wind
Goodbye LaPetite
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you walked
They walked over Sandcastle
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the trebuchet
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a Sandcastle in the sea
Never knowing who to cling to
When the tides set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a poster
Your castles washed out long before
Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
OTT created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you vanished
Oh the thread still hounded you
All the posters had to say
Was that LaPetite was there at the fade

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a Sandcastle in the sea
Never knowing who to cling to
When the tides set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a poster
Your castles washed out long before
Your legend ever did

Goodbye LaPetite
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to stand aside
While those around you walked
Goodbye LaPetie
From the Dragon on the 38nd NP
Who sees you as something Stange and free
More than just the Blitzgirl

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a Sandcastle in the sea
Never knowing who to cling to
When the tides set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a poster
Your castles washed out long before
Your legend ever did

Annoying thing about this smiley, I still couldn't make transparency work so tried to match it to the forum background colour - only problem is the colour alternates between posts so it's only right half the time!

mscha wrote:<snip>(after I coined Cuegan, many people preferred Megball or Meball, but eventually we all started to use Cuegan)

IIRC, Meball was the first suggestion made, you then suggested Cuegan and that caught on pretty quick, but then I suggested Megball, which I thought was better than both of those, and I stand by that to this day and still use Megball myself even if barely anyone else does!

mscha wrote:
ergman wrote:[group self indulgence] you know another awesome thing about this thread? There is a huge variety of age groups, varying from high school students to newlyweds to grandparents. It lends itself to a large range of perspectives and things we reference. (I think I have a bob Dylan number of 3, if you relax the qualifications a little) [\group self indulgence]

I was going to note the exact same thing, but with a slightly different conclusion: I think the OTT is surprisingly homogenous considering the huge age range. You might expect age groups to stick together (the ‘kids’ hanging out and responding to each other while the ‘oldies’ do something else) but that's far from the case (for the most part).

I think that's just because we're on an internet forum and nobody actually KNOWS anyone's age unless they've explicitly stated it, so it's not really an issue. But even so, it is pretty cool how we have such a huge age range here.

edfel wrote:Onward to the mountains! At last, they'll be turning terra incognita into map data :-)
The poll for the mountains name is still open, I've had Sierra Molpies for now. It's good, but there may be other ideas?

"Ered Levain"
"Lavan" being an Elvish (Sindarin) word for an animal, usually specifically quadrupeds and not reptiles or birds (raptors). So basically, the Elvish word for Molpy. (Pluralised of course, in the weird Sindarin way of changing the vowels accordingly)

GIVES ME THE SKITTLES

There are many candies of power in this world, Hal9000, and none of them are to be eaten lightly.

and now I can't help but picture your computer core, huddled over a pile of skittles, saying, "My precioussssss"

There is only one Lord of the Skittles. And he does not share power.

After last year in the US, I'm not looking a gift rain in the mouth.

Then it appears there are at least three of us in a rainy place today.

It's rainy where I am also! From this large, four person sample, I determine that there is rain all over the earth, and also
Some on mars.
And I might not have earned this rain, but I did earn skittles

    Both are presumably
