Oh, 7! So this is new, irregular newpix scheduling for a special event...

There's a pair of stars above Jupiter. The right one morphed into a double star in the meteor frame. I don't have time now to do diffs, nor have I paid any attention to if this is a "common" occurrence in the OTNSOTNS.

There you have it. Happy now? :)

Will people start again on how Randall reads this thread? (I think he finally Blitzed through all the pages).

And does this mean we are back to half-hour updates of the comic, just like in the beginning?

How long did that period last? And how long do we have the hourly schedule? If those are round numbers, it could be a new schedule again. Or just a one time exception for the comet.

Did anyone catch any of the other frames? They went by so fast!

Good catch. I don't think we caught that one.

I think it was an entire animation. I'm pretty sure I saw several frames fly by. Any idea how we can find the rest?

Well, if it was like this one, we couldn't miss it, the final stage of the animation still stays there. But it's a shame we missed the whole animation. I doubt any of the bots are set to check for newpixes so fast.

Oh my. Oh my. A comet meteor. Frames coming too fast. A comet shooting star. Speedpix. A comet falling star.

Is this enough excitement, bored people?

EDIT: comet? what was I thinking? *facepalm*

I don't think we missed any other comets/meteors, but it looks like we missed all most of the frames of this one. (And would probably not even have known that, if it wasn't for Bay.)

This really wreaks havoc with our frame numbering (and any animations I'm doing)...
For frame numbering, I think I'll number those 2440a, 2440b, 2440c, 2440d, 2440e.

Or maybe he just believes we'll find a way to capture it all anyway. He hid LaPetite in the fade without warning (or maybe he knew we were already augmenting the pictures to see what was there.)
Oh, I don't know. Once again, he does something that surprises me, even while granting my request for a meteor.

After sixty-odd newpix of starry starry nighttime in the OTC, I have to assume that the thought of OTTifying the song "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)" by Don McLean has occurred to just about every Waiter who's ever heard the song.

And yet, as richly poetic as it is (it should probably appear in the dictionary next to the word "poignant"), the song doesn't lend itself to lighthearted filking. I assume that's the reason others have shied away.

So, forget lighthearted. This is about Randall watching me watching Cueball watching Megan, with stars and deep time enfolding all.

Celestial Sphere (Starry Starry Night)

Starry, starry night
Tumbling in a crystal sky
Ghostly river drifting by
As constellations wheel into the west
Watching Megan rest
Wondering where their path will lead
Fretting on tomorrow's need
To find a friend beyond this empty land

Now I understand
Why you turn from every star
The mystery's not the sea, it's who you are
So tell me why you walked so far
You cannot see me, my Time's in your past
I wonder, did it last?

Starry, starry night
Black of night on mountains green
Predators a-prowl unseen
And only sticks and stones to keep you whole
Asking in your soul
How far will you need to go
To learn what you already know
To touch the future, simply touch her hand

Now I understand
Why you turn from every star
The mystery's not the sky, it's who you are
So tell me why you walked so far
You cannot see me, my Time's in your past
I wonder, did it last?

For I've waited for you
Thinking your quest was true
Then while the sun was out of sight on that starry starry night
We saw the truth, as Waiters sometimes do
But I could have told you, Randall
Our Time was never meant for us to wait until it's through

Starry, starry night
Watch the restless planets set
Trailing veils of faint regret
For castles left behind upon the beach
Reasons out of reach
Farther than the stars above
All that we can grasp is love
To light the night behind us as we go

Now I think I know
Why you turn from every star
The mystery's not the world, it's who you are
So tell me why you walked so far
And you can see me, though I don't know how
Perhaps there's only... now?

If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after Time...
