Almost definitely. But this will certainly keep us busy for many a newpix (I'm sure I'll have to battle my way through preview posts to get this through EDIT: Yup, three sets of new posts already)

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. It's fun to try and imagine where Cuegan is, and how much time has passed as they travel, and what language the Beanies are speaking - but it seems to me that this is an invented world (albeit one with familiar aspects), with invented characters traveling invented lands, encountering invented animals and people. We see the invented world through the eyes of the main characters (well, up to now, pretty much the ONLY characters), and if they don't understand Beanong, this is a great way to show it. GLR, the Creator of it all, whose will cannot be effed, has created this for us, to fill our days with wonder and amazement, and to Wait for it.

:| I feel so sad when people write things like this. You notice when other people don't post for a while, don't you? You might get around to checking when their last post was, or they might come back before you get that far, but you notice. And when someone says they'll be gone for a while, you think ‘oh, that's nice, they’re going on a trip,’ or ‘ugh, final exams, glad it's not me,’ or maybe ‘ppbbblllttt. Wish I could go on a trip, must be nice.’ You care. (And if you meant that people might think your explanation was silly, nah. Plenty of us say we're going a-coma and then post just one more time, or just stay for the ONG and end up commenting on it, or grab a moment on the way out the door to get a word in... It's all good. :D)(Besides, you're about to drive a DeLorean through the door of a Tardis. It would be silly of us to assume we know where you are in your personal timeline.)

Hey, you left out a smiley at the end of the footnote, didn't you? :) I'm sorry if it made you said, it was meant partly as a joke, partly as a reference to my older post, when I used the same phrase when announcing my comeback after one and a half months and partly they're both referencing to The Big Bang Theory episode "The Gothowitz Deviation" where one of the Goth-girls used this phrase repeatedly.

Oh, and yeah, 'oh, that's nice, they’re going on a trip' was fortunately this case (unlike my previous absence which was ugh, final exams combined with ugh, finishing bachelor's thesis)

We don't know for sure which way the speech begins and which way it ends. If it's anything like Hebrew (which seems much more unlikely with this frame) it might be read right-to-left instead of left-to-right.

Two of the characters are constant between the two spoken things so far: the gimel like letter on the far left, and the definitely not Hebrew symbol (here immediately to the left of the symbol with a degree above it).

One of us (with a bit more times than I have at the moment) ought to start making list of these characters and how often they appear, and if possible, what they tend to occur next to. Maybe we can find some vowels that way.

Hmm... I've been trying to figure this out, looking at the way the characters are composed. From trying to write the third character from the right in the current newpix, I would think that its more likely to be written left to right, because the longer leg points towards the right.... this might be my left to right system bias though, anyone with experience in writing right-to-left, who could enlighten us?

Clearly, it's time for some more speculation.

At the beginning of Time, I figured our couple was at the beach, on a weekend afternoon, not far from home. As things progressed, it seemed like they must be on a longer vacation, or maybe they don't need to work for a living. Now I think they are strangers in this land, and have no idea where home is, and any previous life has become meaningless. This whole world is new to them, and deserves exploration and investigation, but oddly enough they aren't particularly stressed about finding food.

Why does that experience sound vaguely familiar to me? Ahh, there it is. How many here have read Riverworld, by Philip Jose Farmer? Or seen the TV adaptations? In the book, people experience their death in the real world at various points in history, but wake up to find themselves on a world dominated by a giant river, and populated with other people plucked out of history. And, of course, there's some mysterious alien-like entities who have set all this up....

So, there's my prediction: this is Riverworld, or more precisely some type of creative adaptation of that basic premise.
