Molpy still up!

ggh wrote:I just caught up. Loved heaps, but I gotta molpy down, and all my spare time has been going to make the wee one a turtlemolp costume for a Hallowe'en party tomorrow. No comments from me this round. I had some, but some squishy green hat ate them.

In OTG news, I'm kinda excited, because my SB game just made WWW castles for the first time, narrowly beating the complete fade to white. Now, when I molpy up, I'll see Journey newpix and my sand mould maker will be nearly complete - a new day!

Five things off the top of my head I must mention:
Beanies rock!
All the OTTherComics - teeheehee. :)
Scratchy shading suits Expando - holy moly.
Hatted brain slugs are brilliant (I especially liked the bow tie).
The return of so many wonderful OTTers I feared lost makes me really, really happy.

Well done! You seem to be a bit ahead of me as I'm only a bit into the fade.

I am a long way behind (picture wise) - currently just starting the scaffolding.

BTW for variety I posted the latest mustard via github (don't know if you noticed)

I have a weird problem.
Why would one particular website refuse to open on one particular computer? Other related sites open on that computer, and that site opens on other computers.
Multiple browsers have been tried. It's been tried from multiple locations. Error message is web address cannot be found.
Of course, it's not my computer, nor is it located where I am, so I just have to think of things to try and talk him through trying them.

I left that comic long ago, thinking "I'll see it when it's done."

(I just like my videos with a higher framerate :wink:

I thought this thread would keep growing while the comic was on, so I waited it to sink to the bottom of the forum.

Now I visited Randall's blag and read it ended months ago. And he spoiled it talnkg about some sea level (or something)

fuck.

Well, let's see it then. Question: where is the best navigable "port"? thanks

Probably corrupt DNS on that computer. It should self correct in 72 hours (as that is the maximum time DNS can be cached).

Right?

You could give her a green safety hat. They protect from exhaustion!

But they necessarily require energy to protect from exhaustion, therefore they'll exhaust her even more!

If one of them dies, do the others receive and share the energy of the dead one, or they become fractured⁺?

Hello, thevicente! Thanks for visiting! :)
Randall selected the Geekwagon viewer to link to on the 1190 page, which plays on its own and has several useful features.
Many of us here on the thread use mscha's viewer, which is another great resource for frame-by-frame.
There are more viewing programs in the list on our wiki: http://xkcd-time.wikia.com/wiki/Useful_ ... g_Programs

Riverish SB mustard to report before I coma - my Ladders are producing 0 sand for some reason.
At least I think it's mustard. I thought it was Ninja Climber's fault, but I do have a ninja stealth streak going, so it's not because of that.
And it's not Broken Rung, because I don't have 0 of any type of tool.

Good morning molpies!

Today I am so excited because for my birthday, my lovely sweet awesome wife got me a Wacom Intuos Pro (small). I got a few minutes to play with it yesterday and it is indeed pretty neat. I expect that I will start using it to enhance my slides, though primarily I will continue to stick to the medium of 6' x 4' card-stock with pen/pencil and watercolor pencils.

Huh. No idea what that could be.

Hmm. I'm wondering then if it was in fact original text by ucim but got accidentally mixed up with his quote. Here's the post it was from:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=101043&p=3485127#p3485127

Actually that makes sense, because the poem referred to is one by ucim. So my post I guess should be addressed to ucim. @ucim :)

If you have the boost Broken Rung you need the following fix:

Input at the console (F12 Chrome, Ctrl Shift K in Firefox)

Code: Select all

Molpy.SandTools['Ladder'].spmNP=function(){
   var baserate = 54+Molpy.Got('Extension Ladder')*18;
   var mult = 1;
   if(Molpy.Got('Level Up!'))mult*=2;
   if(Molpy.Got('Climbbot'))mult*=4;
   if(Molpy.Got('Broken Rung')) {
      var min =1000000;
      for(var i in Molpy.SandTools)if(Molpy.SandTools[i].amount)min=Math.min(min,Molpy.SandTools[i].amount);
      for(var i in Molpy.CastleTools)if(Molpy.CastleTools[i].amount)min=Math.min(min,Molpy.CastleTools[i].amount);
      mult*=min;
      }
   if(Molpy.Got('Up Up and Away'))mult*=10*Molpy.CastleTools['Trebuchet'].amount;
   if(Molpy.Got('Glass Ceiling 6'))mult*=Molpy.GlassCeilingMult();
   if(Molpy.Got('Ninja Climber'))mult*=Molpy.ninjaStealth;
   mult*=Molpy.BBC();
   return baserate*mult;
   };
Molpy.RepaintShop()

Don't Worry about an "Undefined" response - it should fix the problem

Kieryn - Ah, jolly good. I'm pretty sure I've never deleted anything I've posted of a poetic nature. And happy birthdip! Is it actually todip? If so you have the same birthdip as my sister. Treeish.

In your list1 of poetic ottifications, I found within my posts three false positives. There should also be more correct hits, but maybe it's still only a subset you sampled.

Yep it's still very crude and will be missing a large amount of content. I did not actually check yet but I would guess the false positive rate is somewhere around 20-30%. So yeah, much room to improve.

I'm sorry. It sucks to learn and experience in this way. What's the best way to navigate, you say? To blitz the thread. Second best, a viewer, I suppose, like the geekwagon linked on xkcd.com. @azuleNow I get why I didn't get it, since after I got it I didn't get why I didn't get it until now. I didn't make the connection between the first panel and the second. Perhaps lack of coma. Or maybe I'm just dumb. Which is ok, because the GLR is a genius. :)

Nice otty ED. But those doors are the same size... that is heresy because we know C is big!

SBN wrote:Why would one particular website refuse to open on one particular computer?
First thing I can think of is scripts. One computer/browser may be locked down more in that regard, and some really heretical web designers make it mandatory that you allow scripts (they are like slimy green things) that come from who-knows-where to run all over your computer in order to open their site.

So, check the settings of each of the browsers and computers to see if differences between them account for it.

Another thing to look at is the hosts file. It is an "internet address book" and one of its uses is to act as a lightning rod for evil sites. (you tell it the evil site is on your computer, and let it time out looking rather than actually sending a request to the evil site).

Personally I have my seamonkey locked down pretty tightly, and I open just as much as necessary. Bloody inconvenient, but it's the price one must pay to be safe from slimy green things disguised as safety hats!

thevicente wrote:Well, let's see it then. Question: where is the best navigable "port"? thanks
Welcome! There's no "best" way, but as you see the thread is fifteen hundred pages long, so there's a lot going on. Check the wiki If you just want to flip through the comic, you can use any of the viewers. You can find a few here:
http://xkcd-time.wikia.com/wiki/The_Holy_Books
Check the Book of Aubron, the Book of Geekwagon, and the bottom of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Mscha's viewer (from the dead sea scrolls) is here

Doing it this way gives you the "higher frame rate" you prefer, but you'll miss a lot. To experience Time in its own time, despite your earlier heresy of waiting to Wait For It, you should go through the thread. All the frames are posted there, along with discussion of all kinds. It's all relatedTM. Time lives even after the End Of Time.

You can, of course, mix the two. Some of the wiki resources link the thread with the comic, allowing you to jump back and forth between them and keep them in sync.

It may come to pass that you feel a deep void in your soul, one that can only be filled by Drinking Fully from the River of Time. If that happens, you'll know it, and you'll know what you must do.

In any case, welcome to this madhouse! And don't put on any of the slimy green hats that are being distributed in the guise of protection. They are heretical!

Kieryn wrote:ucim - Aug 7 2013 9:31PM "XXIII Clompety thompe..."
That's the one. I thought maybe slimy green things ate it. As part of the Acts of the Clerics, that would be heretical!

I've been trying to post this for a nopix. There was mustard, and I kept snipping things but couldn't get rid of the mustard till just now. (It didn't help that I had to keep closing the window when someone walked by. Anyway, here it is, finally!
