It's not busy todip at all is it? I'm almost concerned that either a) I've scared everybody off, or b) molpyraptors have eaten most other OTTers!

Oooh, my first Popedom!

I know it can end up very obscure, but please ask me if there is anything really incomprehensible (I am trying to explain my conclusions in closing sentences without too much jargon, and I also try to explain the concepts that cannot be easily understood just by googling or "wikipeding" [is that even a verb?!] them).

Just, please, don't assume that I have figured Beanish out: the a-bit-more-academic methodology, the linguistic jargon, and the wannabe-scientist attitude (but I swear I am not wearing a lab coat!) are probably masking the fact that, just like anyone else, I have no clue about it. -- btw, do you have any suggestion for possible translations of the sentences I am unable to figure out?

No worries. The purpose of that post was not to say that I was bored of it or anything, just that most of the discussion went over my head. I know that you obviously haven't gotten a legitimate translation out of it yet (there obviously isn't enough data yet), but it is good to know that there are some well-fleshed-out theories about it, and hopefully Randall can will use it again at some point.

  • Ketchup with mrob27's additions
  • One meme I forgot to copy from AUTOMEME, and one entirely new meme
  • A change from "PRICKLYMOLPY" to "PRICKLYMOLP", which was actually a typo on my end

I emailed the xkcd store about Time merchandise and got this in response:
orders@xkcd.com wrote:Hello Slinches,

I have no idea at this point if we'll be adding anything from Time to the store. You're welcome to borrow images from it if there is something in particular you'd really like to have :), xkcd is under a creative commons license which allows for personal, non-commercial use like making your own shirt or print.

Looks like we may have to take matters into our own hands if we want any physical manifestations of Time, at least for the foreseeable future.

Maybe we haven't been bugging them enough about it

On the Beanish thread tresoldi calls the OTT the One True Topic. At first I had issue with this. But, now I think it's an even better acronym. That means, no matter which thread we create for the OTC, it's still the OTT. :)

More lurkreplies:

clitic: a clit critic. You can thank tresoldi for that. lol. Also, sorry.
copula: copulation cut short; copulation interruptus. You can add thanks for mrob27. :P

Hah, I love the pessimism. I think we actually felt this way back then (without knowing all that, of course).

Have you ever burned a waffle? Batter burns too. Well, how about baby batter? Yep. So...should we replace semen and baby with babybatter? That would cover both.

Well, sorta. You can see the people that left (statistically) but like people have said, where's the heartbeat? (It was inside you all along, Timmy). :) Deep, yes.

You're welcome. Another SVG stick figure. lol.

NoMouse wrote:(Now I wonder how many such mistakes I make in English. Is there something wrong in every of my posts or are there some posts without noticeable mistakes?)
Besides missing "one" in "every one of my posts" you had no problems. I mean, seriously, foreign language English speakers often seem to speaker better English than natives. Probably a lot less "likes" as well, less slang. Just sounds better. I'm trying to mangle English here....I don't know how. (Unless I succeeded, yay!)

Since others have asked about their English skills: BlueCrab noted how a native will not worry about the rules so much. That was part of the point I was making up there. That is to say, I might sorta know you're not a native speaker because you use English so well. Another indication is how it's used. That is, sometimes it sounds proper like Shakespearean English. I often don't hear anything odd in a British English speaker, so that's telling you something. ;) Hmm, now that I examine my own English, right there ^, I see that I drop a lot of words that can be retreived on assumption. Eh, or I'm wrong and that's the same that you're doing. I think that the sentences usually are longer with longer words. I can see this is a universal fact as when I examine the speaking in a movie to it's captions I can see the more formal longer words being used but not when spoken. We are taught a foreign language wrong, I'd say. But, latin words are easier to translate.

Oh, so it turns out that Latin is still the international language. Well, the English version of Latin.

Halfway through the first paragraph, it says that they're used in the production of circuit boards, so I thought it was supposed to be a joke about how he's stored somewhere in the circuitry of the computer. But then, I read the next sentence:

In a comically tragic turn of events, Addams didn't die. You can help her here.

Does the basement ever end?

Good luck to all the Blitzers out there!

Whoa, Cueganites with punsaws? We're in trouble.

Azule, re: faculty meeting minutes, I type them during the meeting and also record the meetings. Then I have to make them into a nice formal document. But I don't type that fast, plus often people are talking over each other, or I miss something someone said, or they go back to talk about something we talked about earlier. So, it takes me a while to go through the minutes I typed to make them nice and neat, which means I need to relive the whole boring meeting again. The faculty meeting minutes are the bane of my existence.

What exactly does that mean?
It means she's doing Time for a meeting instead of meeting to do Time.

That too.

It is molpish to see the animations again, and to notice details I didn't before. I like the way Cueball turns his head from side to side as he surveys his work.
