he's got it figured out. I think someone else has called him Lucy before, although thinking back, it doesn't make that much sense pronunciation wise.

Has this been answered already? Once (in a PM, I think), I asked Aluisio if he had a nickname, and he said I could call him Lu. So I did. I assume that's where ergman got Lucy from, which probably doesn't work so well since Lucy is a girl's name.

And the reverse version of that - How many puns can you make while also avoiding the punsaw?

It could all be the same event, with two teams: One punning, one sawing. They'd swap over at half time.

I want to play this. I mean, without actual murderous punsaws. Maybe like paintball punsaws.

Oh! ChronosDragon had a wonderful ketchup post that I meant to admire verbally rather than just in my head. :)

Wait For It
(Because I had to Let It Go.)
(That was terrible. It needs paintballing)

Spoiler:
The sea rises on the castle tonight,
Lots of footprints to be 'seen.'
A kingdom made of sand atoms,
And it looks like, there's no queen.
The sculpture's crumbing and it won't remain for long,
I am hooked now, look at every ONG.
He let us in, he let us see,
Good Lord Randall's left a mystery.
To know, we know
We'll have to wait.
And we will wait!

Wait for it, Wait for it,
I can see it in the alt-text.
Wait for it, wait for it,
And then we'll see what's next!
I don't care,
Cos it will be neat!
Let outside rage on,
The world never bothered me anyway.

It's funny how some distance,
These stick-figures have gone,
And the sea they left behind them,
Will keep them going on!
It's time to see the birds and trees,
The wowterfalls and snakey-bees!
And a surprise that won't be fake,
A snake!

Wait for it, Wait for it,
Semenbaconbabiesonice,
Wait for it, Wait for it,
And blitzing will be nice!
Here I sit,
With my organised sand!
Let outside rage on.

A raptor-cat shall wait to pounce on our Megball,
A starry night and a tower that's a few Cueballs tall!
The sea is flooding as Rosetta will describe!
So we are going back, to save our little tribe!

Wait for it, Wait for it,
A raftcastle has been built,
Wait for it, wait for it,
We're going at full tilt!
Then those words,
Will appear in the sky.
Let OTTers rage on!
'The End' always bothered me anyway.

Wowterful, Minim! You inspired me. :D From the same musical,

For the first Time in forever
Inspired by the tune of the same name in Frozen.

[BlitzGirl:]
Two people are sitting on a shore
I do not know what they're sitting for
Who guessed that this still image now updates?
For years I've climbed these forum halls
Watching debates and flamewar brawls
Finally some grander thing awaits

There'll be sandcastling stickpeople
It'll be totally strange
But wow, did I just see that newpix change?!

'Cause for the first Time in forever
There'll be music to recite
For the first Time in forever
I'll be honored as a Knight

Don't know if I'm befuddled or laughing
But I'm in a happy zone
'Cause for the first Time in forever
I am not alone

I will wait here with everyone! [gasp]
What if we just... have fun?

Tonight imagine a typed-out scrawl
Lobbed to the Present like a ball
I'm blitzing from the past; it's like a race
And what will I do when I get there
So nervous! Oh how will I prepare?
Don't know if I will flop or be embraced

But then we laugh and talk all Fading,
Which is totally bizarre
Nothing like the posts I've made so far

For the first Time in forever
There'll be manips, there'll be fun
For the first Time in forever
I could be quoted by someone

And I know it is totally crazy
To dream this in advance
But for the first Time in forever
I think we've got a chance

[Minim:]
He let us in, he let us see,
Good Lord Randall's left a mystery.
To know, we know... we'll have to wait.
Hey OTTers, we can make this thread so great!

[Minim:] Let's watch Cuegan walk away
[BlitzGirl:] Watch Cuegan walk away

[Minim:] It's so much fun to wait
[BlitzGirl:] It's so much fun to wait

[Minim:] Watch this new community create!
[BlitzGirl:] Create!

[BlitzGirl:] For the first Time in forever
[Minim:] He let us in, he let us see,

[BlitzGirl:] I'm getting what I'm dreaming of
[Minim:] Good Lord Randall's left a mystery.

[BlitzGirl:] A chance to change my lonely world
[Minim:] To know

[BlitzGirl:] Find people I can love
[Minim:] To know, we know we'll have to wait.

[BlitzGirl:]
We know it could end tomorrow,
So let's ottify today
'Cause for the first Time in forever
For the first Time in forever
A thread's here to stay!

CoastlineUNG:

Now might be a good Time to retrieve waveney's ENHANCE'd map from the NP1300s.

Detailed discussion in the spoiler:

tresoldi wrote:
waveney wrote:
tresoldi wrote:
waveney wrote:I tried looking at the map in 2906 to as well as 2907 to see if there was any dithering - there wasn't

However it did allow a closer invesigation of the areas covered with the dashed coastline, so here is version 3:

Image

Someone has already said that 13 (and perhaps 4) could be the Tyrrhenian sea. In a comment, "edo" pointed in my blog that 8 could be the Rhone, but I think it could also be one of the labels in 9.

13 Accepted - I had seen the note and then carefully forgot to act upon it.
4 It is labelling something else and I thick it is the square dot (but could be the river2)
8 I will indicate that it could be the Rhone but agree it could be one of those in 9

Also add 14: River2 flowing through the Straight of Messina. So it might be called the Messina. And possible rivers for 11 and 17.

So Current features are now:
Version 3.1: Modification to locations 8, 11, 13, 14, 17

1. Clear Square dot and some small writing - Bilbao?
2. Another Square dot - somewhere in the region of Carcassone to Beziers. Carcassone might be a good working assumption
3. Possible dot -could be Huelva or some place near it
4. Another Square dot and some small writing - New Rome?
5. Known Gibraltar beanish 933
6. Known Baleric Sea in Beanish
7. Known Ionian Sea in Beanish
8. Beanish 34cGX Perhaps the name of the river – the Rhone, but it might be in 9
9. Two Beanish Labels: 2JMX' and 433? The castle also appears to have a square blob.
10. Writing? (I no longer think there is a Square dot, as not on other page)
11. River name? Rio Segura?
12. Another named Sea? Adriatic?
13. Another named Sea? Tyrrhenian sea?
14. Name of River? This flows through the straight of Messina so might be called the River Messina.
15. Another named Sea? Adriatic?
16. Duck? (See unenhanced) with writing above partially hidden by dashed coastline.
17. River name? Possibly the Bradano?
18. The heavy dotted line here overlaps - might be mustard
19. Writing hidden by dashed coastline.

I forgot to add that, regarding 8, if we consider that there seems to be a correlation between the prefix (ᘊ)ᓭ- and nouns (and, in particular, between ᘊᓭ- and "water"), ᘊᓭᑦᑕᖉ is probably a common noun, just like ᘊᖊ,ᓄ ("sea"). It could be simply "river", maybe an autonomasy (it is, after all, the river closer to the Beanies).

I'm much more interested in ᘖᓄᘈᖉᐣ, which I believe is a proper noun.

I've updated OTToMeme again. More memes. Maybe improved some memes. Some other fixes and changes. Oh yeah, I added history, so now you can go back or forward again. Clicking while in the past adds to the future (like a blindpost). It's not too pretty yet, but it's functional. The arrows are under the title. Or use Ctrl+left or Ctrl+right.
Image

If you read this sig, post about one arbitrary thing you did today.

I celebrate up to six arbitrary things before breakfast.
Time does drag on and on and contain spoilers. Be aware of memes.

TdF RELATED

Postby NoMouse » Sat Jul 19, 2014 12:22 pm UTC

So, I've been watching Tour de France yesterday and am watching it today at it turns out it's RELATED. Or at least, it's RELATED to the OTColorizations I made a while ago that were based on photos I took last summer. Yesterday, they showed a fortress over Grenoble, which is the one in this OTColorization:

I only recently learned that Time has an actual story and so I read the whole thing. When I got to frame 3022 it occurred to me that the story kind of reminds me of Tove Jansson's Comet in Moominland: They go to a far away place in the mountains to learn about a coming disaster, then return to warn others and improvise some plan to stay alive. A good story.

Hello, jozwa! Image Welcome to the OTT, the discussion thread devoted to 1190: Time! Image
jozwa wrote:I only recently learned that Time has an actual story and so I read the whole thing.
[…] A good story.
I agree. (Otherwise I wouldn't post here. ;))

I don't intend to spoiler the story for you, but here is a warning:
Spoiler:
The end of the story is quite sudden and leaves many open questions.
Some of them are addressed in our fan-fiction sequels – see below.
It is worth to read the Wiki about the comic. (IMHO you are missing half the fun if you don't.)
You can find there, for example:
  • explanations and a glossary for the strange language we are using in this thread
  • many details in the comic which are easily overlooked
  • an astronomic analysis of the Long Night
  • a linguistic analysis of the language (called Beanish here) of the foreign people
  • brilliant artwork such as drawings, manipulations of photos and comics, stories, poems, songs, films
  • TimeAfterTime: a collection of fan-fiction stories using the same format as Time
(One of them – the longest – is by me. See my signature.)
Have fun,
SilentTimer

MROB27 IS MUSTARDING A MOOPY

Postby mrob27 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 7:05 pm UTC

第三十七章

(chapter 36)

That much is clear, but, Morobu realizes, insufficient.
I can leave tiles from now on... but should I repeat my steps again back "up" (really down) to the beach of BlueCrab, and leave tiles where I had been? That might be a benefit to other pilgrims. Or should I just continue going back to the hokora at the mountain-pond?
Morobu thinks on this until the morning mist has completely cleared, and sunlight glints off the corrogated wall of a farmer's shed.
It is the 28th day of Satsuki. Soon Minazuki, the month of enrollment, will begin, and I am no closer to finding the Dojo than when I sat by the pond-side. There is no shame in continuing back towards the hokora. There I will seek inspiration for my next steps.
Having decided, Morobu now picks up his newly-summoned Cueball tile from where it had plunked at his feet, and carefully inscribes his travelogue and plans. Placing it neatly beside the other three, and nodding (if not bowing) to the quasi-gorintō, he retraces his steps of two days earlier back through the terraced fields.

Yes, it failed at about 8:15 UTC this morning (the 19th). Other servers on the same IP (which are virtualized) are also not working: examples include canadadongshin.com, a Korean Presbyterian church, jmtfoto.com, a freelance photographer, and www.petelivesey.com, a chiropractor. Servers fail when attempted from my own part of the Internet and also from others, in all cases the connection times out. I suspect that the real server hosting the virtual servers has stopped. This has happened in the past and usually gets fixed before I have a chance to tell them about it. This time, as it lasted more than a few hours and affects other customers, I have told them.
Ironically, (even though Q04B would still work if you turn off your internet or go into "airplane mode"), if your internet is working normally it will sometimes try to look for an update, find that mrob.com is missing, and then fail to let you play even though the Q04B files are all cached. Once this has happened you cannot play even if you then turn off your internet to play offline. I think this particular manifestation of mustard depends on what browser you use.
For OTT Time Travel purposes, use @mscha's Current UNG to find out which oldpix it is, and here is a list of the next four dips or so of UNGs with links to the corresponding OTT post:

True. I hadn't thought about the similarities.

By coincidence (it is all RELATED), today I bought a book with collected snippets of Moomin books, including one chapter from the Comet book. Here is the illustration of when our heroes meet their Rosetta Beardo the Professor. Now that's what I call ominous - Tove Jansson was a master of black-and-white drawings.

Image

-According to my calculations, it [the comet] should touch the Earth on the seventh of August at 8:42 in the evening. Possibly 4 seconds later, answered the Professor.
-And then what happens? asked Sniff.
- What happens? said the Professor. I haven't had time to think about that. But I will write down the events very carefully.
Sniff started to walk down the stairs on trembling legs. Halfway down he stopped suddenly and asked:
- What day is it today?
- Third of August, said the Professor. And the time is precisely 7:53.
- Then I almost think we have to go home, said Sniff. Bye bye!

(My translation.)

Hm. My preview of the image is rotated 90 degrees and the bottom part has been clipped - that's where Moomintroll and Snufkin are standing. Mustard! But maybe it looks better for you...
