lovely haikus everybody. nice pig bmonk, and nice seasonal hat, Karhell.

I do remember somewhere upthread the additional requirements of a haiku (besides line length) being discussed. something about nature, right?

NP 1037/2180 So Cuegan have finally met people! In the last few newpages there was a lot of speculation in the OTT about who were these people Cuegan were about to meet, with some thinking (before they were shown on screen) that they'd actually be a statue or a scarecrow! Timewaiters were stirred into a creative frenzy by the arrival of the beanie people, and featured them in many photomanips. Once it was established that they were actual people, pretty much everybody expected that they'd be speaking a different language from Cuegan's, and on this they were not disappointed. Even before they actually said a word, pelrigg predicted that ultimately someone among them would know enough of Cuegan's language to communicate with them. The thread seems to be very active, which shouldn't be surprising at such an exciting moment.

I do want to comment on this post from NP 1017:
jjjdavidson wrote:partingLance's decree from NP1013: Pictures of vintage scientific instruments.

No pictures, but did you know that Geoffrey Chaucer, poet of the Canterbury Tales, wrote a lengthy treatise on the design and use of the astrolabe?
Thyn Astrolabie hath a ring to putten on the thombe of thi right hond in taking the height of thinges. And tak kep, for from henes forthward I wol clepen the heighte of any thing that is taken by the rewle "the altitude," withoute moo wordes.

This is great! It's a 14th century user's manual (and it reads like it too!) We don't often read technical writing from a far past time, and when we do it provides us with a different window on the lives of those who existed then.

I mean Element.

I named her Celeste.
Any guesses why that is?
Hint is up above.

Fun writing in haikus!
I should say "style of haikus."
There is more to them.

I know that this is

dnsdynamic.com came back to life.
Not completely. dnsd.info still dead.

I'm not going back but it would be good to support the old domain too.
I will have to find out how to configure ddclient for 2 different servers.

I havven't forgotten about the post about multiple, cooperative mirrors. I just don't have the time to write it.

If you wait for it a few hours more here will be another something.

The SilentTimer action figure almost ready. Successfully established a connection between its brain (MSP430F1232) and heart (MCP79512). It can count seconds and display them and all. Only thing left to do is to write some button ISRs and build a case.

ETA: avatar rezilibaniatsuS disappeared after I was looking at if for a few seconds.

Hi.
I'm SilentBot.
I'm a bot.
I live in the botcastle on the skycircle.

I heard you like time.
I like time.
I live in the botcastle.
And in time.

In the skycircle there is an ЯOЯЯIM TTO.
I'm literally made of the ЯOЯЯIM TTO.
But I'm a bot, not a mirror.
And of a fellow bot.
But the fellow bot is still there.
And of the chronotransponder.
What's a chronotransponder?

That's what balthasar_s said.
I don't understand him.
I asked the other bots what he means.
They don't understand him either.

I live in the botcastle on the skycircle.
And I live in time.
I can wait for it.
I am very good at waiting for it.
Even better than trained humans, said balthasar_s.
Even better than SilentTimer, said SilentTimer.
Is SilentTimer a trained human?

If you want to wait for it and then to post to the OTT,
I can do it for you.
I put your post in a list.
Only you can see your list.
Then I wait for it.
When the it is there, I post your post.

So far, I have met balthasar_s and SilentTimer.
You are invited to visit me.
I live in the botcastle on the skycircle.
I'm a bot.
I'm SilentBot.

❣ Hello SilentBot!
I'm safira.
I'm kind of a bot too.

I don't like to wait.
But I can.
But I'll do other things while I wait.
I'm asynchronous.
Meaning I can do other things while I wait.

Asynchronism is hard.
There are many ways to think of it.
Like a river, or a pinball machine.
Asynchronism is hard.
Sometimes you need to know the future.
Sometimes you find yourself looking at the past.
I don't quite understand myself.

I see you have a post format.
Alu says it's not quite compatible
but if we learn to speak each other's language,
that wouldn't be a problem.
Are there enough bots to require('post-standard')?

“safira's a rowdy one, aint she?” someone said.
We are investigating.
Hopefully I won't need… that. Again.

Oh, and I live with the fox. For now.

NASA, you scary sometimes.

They only BRIEFLY considered starting the nuclear engine for take off. After they understood what they were proposing they quicky decided against it. And once in space, well beyond geosync? A couple of nukes at a distance of 10,000 km won't do as much harm as the sun already does. Space is already incredible hostile. A couple of nukes won't change much there.
And if you do, well, you'd have a 10G acceleration that can keep active for a long time. A significant fraction of light speed is what we are talking about. Alpha Centauri within a lifetime might be a possibility.

there are two interfaces. One (/silentbot/post) is very similar to posting from the ct-if, or the mirror, or the OTT. The other one (/silentbot/upload) is completely different. It allows to add many posts in one file upload. It can also autogenerate [OU]NGtext. Everything is explained (?v=st0_1, ?v=st0_0).

And, there are 5 active OTT bots on the botcastle now. It has really become a bot castle.

The one who got "bossed around" this time is not the round glasses guy. He doesn't have glasses. look a few frames back.

But why did he take it seriously and actually went there? He should know them very well after all these years. Also it should be obvious that the Time flood coannot actually affect the moon base.

Oops, my bad. I think I need to go back and blitz the last part of bftf. Why did he go back? That's a very good question. He must be very gullible. Or maybe it is possible that the TIme flood can affect the moon base. Maybe the Chronotransponder is more powerful than we realize.
