Yes, there are no "tags" on the YouTube videos (or maybe I AdBlocked them! :P). Only a Category (People & Blogs) and a License. My guess is that @Caprice's "tags" are something that exists within the video editing software that was used to make the videos, and that @Caprice does not realise that they get lost when uploading the video.

IIRC there are keywords right under the description.

Youtube autogenerated subtitles for some of my film. It decided that the language is Russian and tried to recognise it (One was detected as French). When watching I could select the autogenerated subtitles and choose to display them in google-translated Polish. It was very funny.
Some time ago I deactivated some of the autogenerated subtitles and now I'm not even able to reactivate them because the interface changed.
Something else changed with subtitles in youtube. If a film has subtitles in multiple languages (some of my Polish films have Polish and English subtitles) I can turn the subtitles on but I can't select in which language. Youtube somehow decides which language it will use. Not what I want.

While I'm not too worried about whose ads I happen to be ignoring, things happening automatically with no settings can get pretty unmolpish.

Youtube changes very frequently, with very little addition and very much shuffling around of things. You used to be able to see tags, now you can't. (or at least, I can't.)

OTTercon: Haphazard Edition

by azule
Want to meet azule? This is how it works: You [lmjb] randomly encounter [A WILD PM] from azule; You find out that azule is available to meet up, but only at some unknown time and unknown location; You have only a couple hours to accomplish the meetup or it doesn't happen. You're still willing? Alright, let's get down to business:

Where should weU meet? Obviously at a winery. It's wine country, we have no choice. Every corner has a winery. But, no no, what about the little child I dragged along? Okay, okay, says lmjb, a casino it is. She was right. It was the best environment for a child.

Don't worry, folks. We only went to one of their restaurants. Me and my child went in and we waited. Patiently we did so. Baby of mine drew on the paper menu (and at times the tablecloth), while I darted my eyes around the room looking for someone whom I didn't know. "What did she look like?", I asked myself. Wait, wait, I did sneak a peak at those German OTTer photos. I saw people. I did not know which were which and who were who. I could safely exclude the male looking figures (could I?). It was narrowed down. Oh, wait...how would she know me? (No one had seen me since an unnamed debacle of a decade's past.)

Well, this is what happened next: We waited. We...waited for it. The "it" that everyone always ponders? lmjb1964, it turns out. I had forged my skill of waiting, with "Time", and it paid off. I did not leave. I did not freak out and make a scene. I, simply, waited. As my attention, divided by my baby's needs, slowly turned away from checking every second for her presence, I lowered my guards.

I believe this was all intended. lmjb came into the room, with her posse. Right up to me she came (as if she knew me somehow, out here in the "Outside"). Direct (yet comforting) she asked, "are you azule?". I said "yes" (I think I did, anyways). Oh, should I have pranked her and told her I was just some guy with his baby trying to enjoy his meal in peace (or something else equally stupid)? Probably not. A meeting with genuineness was more appropriate.

(There is also some part here where I asked her if she was "lmjb". But why did I do that? Hello! Asking some stranger if he is "azule" is kinda confirmation that the two people in question know each other and are OTTers. Who knows, I guess on some random day some other random internet stranger could have succeeded in finding me after going around for years asking random people if they were the legendary "azule". Hah... Moving on...)

Meeting an OTTer in person can help obliterate the cold world of the net, at least for a day. It's like...there are real life people on the other side of this thing, some of which are very worthy of being friends with. It was a nice meetup. I met lmjb and her "friends" (hehe). I may or may not have :azuled:. (Did I, lmjb?) My baby did not throw up on anyone (he didn't even poopy). If you take anything away from this story, it is: Meet an OTTer, today! Well, meet lmjb, at least.

U Yes, I just switched to first person. I'm a bad writer. K :P
K Kidding. Actually, the first paragraph is a sorta "fake" style of writing. Fine, I'm still a bad writer.
y (lol, parents, amirite?)

Edit to Note: lmjb should not feel bad for what I wrote. Humor and drama were at play. See? This is why I tried to not do things like that during our meetup. It would have been a disaster!  More stuff like this in a spoiler:
Spoiler:
lmjb was nothing but kind and accomodating. I, on the other hand, was difficult to work with. I just said yes to all her ideas. I guess that wasn't supposed to happen. I was supposed to also throw out ideas. I did say we could go to Costco! haha.

Well, I figured that since they had the bigger group, and one of my group was just a baby, that we'd try to accomodate the tastes of lmjb's posse. She did not know of this. If she had, she would have told me to knock it off. :!:

But, bottom line, this was a stylistic writing (bad writer, remember?). I really thought writing "we waited", and all that, would come off as positive here in the OTT. It was a compliment. A weird one, but it was one. :)

Bonus Edit: You can anagram my name into auzle. It's fun to pronounce, too!

Hey All...

Just poking my head out of the basement for a mili-nopix or two. (Outside wants me OUTSIDE!)

One thing came to my attention is the micro-factoid that todip is my second anniversary of joining the fora. (Yes, I signed up during the Fading; NP437 to be precise.) Which makes tomorrow in the morning, my first "live" post. So, I want to thank all of you xuys for putting up with me for this long.

Thanks to mrob for Smiley Repository 2300.
Thanks to azule for his molphy meeting story.
And thanks to Earthling on Mars for his chart and statistics.

And thanks to all the folks not mentioned for all of their additions to this wowderfall place.

Also, thanks to all who weighed in on my suggestion a few NPs ago (7 OTTer business post). I hope that that gets taken into account by the person (mrob) who's doing all the HARD work on getting the OTTerCon Chronicles into shape. (I just did some proof-reading for 7 OTTer privacy stuff.)

(I did notice balthasar_s' last post was a "fun" number at 1144 {not computer or round; just "fun"}.)

And for me this IS the "One After 909" post. So there.

I am sopposed to be getting ready to move (packingUGH, actually movingUgh-squared.)

1. Get rid of things instead of moving them.
2. Label things for the new place, not the old place.
3. Get rid of things.
4. Label all the sides of all the boxes.
5. Color code, but don't bother with the fancy printed moving tape.
6. Did I mention getting rid of things?
7. More boxes, organized better, is better.
8. Get rid of things.

Current status, LW, SW and I in new (temporary) home. MSW, MSWFP in old home. One daughter packing for her own move, other daughter might have a place to stay for the summer. Which might also involve moving. Presumably once the house sells we look for a more permanent place, so we'll have to do it again.
My advice has not been followed for my own move.

More from my old notebook paper:

Craft - tea consumed with cheese (i.e. Kraft)
Modem - what you have done to lawns
Lawn - what the government does when it is sleepy
Automobile - something which really ought to move
Ceiling - similar to wailing, but with a different creature
Garage sale - a transport device for evacuating your house during a flood
There's another page yet...

To the ad targetting people/bots: I don't want to play game of fire: war age, nor to I belive there are Rusian/Thai brides within 20 miles of me. Nor do I measure distance in miles. Try harder!

There's also an adjectival sense of modem which means "new-fangled, advanced, contemporary". Of course that comes from a different etymology, as an unfortunate byproduct of pre-modem kerning techniques.

Oh, that's molpish! :) @Caprice is presenting us with puzzles that require looking in the HTML, similar to some of the challenges you and I have presented in the past. And I see now that the frames 24-44 video does have meta "og:video:tag" properties "mgrnlk", "xkcd", and "xkcd time".
YouTube does indeed seem to use these tags for searching. For example I searched for Jowisz Saturn nie wiem gdzie jestem radar bicycles on the Moon and found your video (and no other videos), despite that most of those words are not in its description. It seems to be a boolean AND search, which can be very useful.

(Edit: Searches indicate mgrnlk is Big in Japan. For now I'll guess that the voice is by Vocaloid.)

Random time! Not to be confused with random Time, though random does tend to lead to confusion, so if necessary, be confused, I know I am a lot. Well, I'm not a lot, but I am often confused. Anyway, I just popped in to say hi, outside is still outside, basement is still home, and posting on my phone, so no footnotes - it takes too long to do that without a real leopard, and I've only got a minute. Got a few in progress replied to PMs pending, got a few half thought out posts I've been intending to write, but what I don't have at the moment is time, so I'll instead post a bit of randomness, just to stay in character.
