Hi... yeah, it's me again.

Outside has still got me by the throat, which means I haven't been able to do more than a glance in. (Not even long enough to call it a ketchup.)

However, I've got enough Time to do this:

Let No UNG Be Forgotten...

Spoiler:
RUN.

=============

Oh, I mentioned awhile back about how I got some ransom-ware on my organized sand and the only way to kill it was to re-load the Operating System. That meant I lost Every Thing on that drive.
Two things I lost were both of the xkcd fonts, which I can't seem to find. I did get sent to xkcdsucks site, but that link was dead.
Does anyone have either of the fonts in a zip file that I might get a copy of?

Back from a long weekend in Hastings. Need to ketchup at some point, but busy, busy.
Did say "ni, ni, ni, chupacapra king kong fall" there (possible not appropriately, but who can be sure?) but failed to show the Little Wonder snow.
Also, did listen to quite a bit of Polish music after following the link with BalthaSongsmith's great OTTification. :)

When I find some free time
I blitz a page or two.
On this crazy journey
I found some new good friends.
I know they'll be waiting
for me when my blitz ends.

Sorry your newpix was voldeframe; I do have a copy of one of the One True Fonts I'll be happy to send you. Or better, we should put all the One True Fonts (is that redundant or what?) in the wiki. Also look into the Purisa font (comes with linux, so is probably free and free). It's another One True Font, if there can be such a thing.

Of course, the only One One True Font is the one that comes directly from the hand of the Great Lord Randall, so really, all our One True Fonts are heretical to some degree. And that's the end of my post, whose number of the count is three three three three.

It was kind of inspired by the original but not directly related
The original lyrics:
Spoiler:
Stałem się tym, kim jestem słonecznego dnia
Słońce chowało się za dach, ojciec kładł mnie spać
Moja mama mnie prosiła, bym zawsze szczery był
Życzyła mi szczęścia, bym podróżował i

Zwiedzał świat, zwiedzał cały świat
Toczył się jak chmury, mieszkańcy wielkich miast
Zwiedzał świat, zwiedzał cały świat
Unosił się jak balon porwany hen przez wiatr

Byłem nieśmiały i kreśliłem nowy plan

W kosmicznej mikroskali
Nasz świat jest taki mały
Posłuszni tylko sobie
Do nieba wznosimy głowy

Stałem się tym kim jestem, pokory uczy świat
W genach mam humory zmienne tak jak wiatr
Mój brat dał mi dźwięki, by ludziom pomoc nieść
Kiedy serce krwawi, bo zbite jest jak pies

I found an English translation on tekstowo.pl. It's not perfect.
Spoiler:
I’ve become who I am one sunny day
The sun was hiding behind the roof
My father was putting me to sleep
My mother asked me to always be honest
She wished me luck and wanted me to travel

To visit the world, visit the whole world
And roll like the clouds, big city dwellers
To visit the world, visit the whole world
And float like a balloon carried by the wind

I was shy but was making a new plan
That with a microphone I’d visit the whole world
And if there’s God somewhere up there
Let him collar me and throw me to your feet

I visit the world, visit the whole world
And roll like the clouds, big city dwellers
I visit the world, visit the whole world
And float like a balloon carried by the wind

In the cosmic microscale
Our world is so small
Obedient to ourselves
We raise our heads to the sky

I’ve become who I am, the world teaches modesty
In my genes there are moods variable like wind
My brother’s given me sounds to let me help the people
When the heart bleeds because it’s beaten like a dog

I visit the world, visit the whole world
And roll like the clouds, big city dwellers
I visit the world, visit the whole world
And float like a balloon carried by the wind

I'm glad you liked it.
It's the first time I did something like that in English.

All of those sound like great ideas, Jose. It would be awesomeful to have the One (semi-)True Fonts in a convenient place for OTTers and non-OTTers can find them. [Either because they just decided they need an OTF or, like me, they are trying to replace something that was lost%.]

And congrats Jose on your quad-3 post. It still qualifies as a round number post, seeing how none of the numbers have any straight lines......... :P

I've blitzed more of the BOTTifications, and am wowtreed by Mrorl's OTTronic Bard. Quite a steakish job of wordification - the Bard's output must be preserved in the Great Wiki as standalone ottifications, in addition to the story itself!

A steak so well done it's rare. :)

Why are there so many Outside things trying to drag me away this wip? I was working on an OTTification, but my organized sand had
an unfortunate incident with the hard drive, and the prospect of starting over from the beginning is quite discouraging. I connected
it to my other pile of sand, but it seems to be a mechanical failure; nothing shows up and it makes a worrying noise. Time to move
to the redundasandpile, I guess.

Four days ago I saw something RELATED, although I forgot to post about it due to aformentioned issues: I was skimming The Count
of Monte Cristo in a bookstore, as I heard it was a good book, and I discovered it is set in the Chateau d'If! I may have to end up
reading it later.

I am going through a bit of unmolpish Outside stuff (besides the sandy things) but hopefully that will clear up soon.

Probably.

It's clearly something hexadecimal, but these aren't just ASCII values.

I didn't find out (yet!) what it means, but here's a transcript:

I'm afraid it means that the SPI lines have to be resoldered. I heard that the clock accidentally fell on the floor from 60cm when I was not around.
But that has to wait. I'm preparing for my defense that I have tomorrow.

That's unmolpish.

Nevertheless it must be a secret message. Maybe the RTC picked up a message which was being transmitted via the Chronotransponder?

I should, and do some Outside stuff.

Yeah! Forget about Turing tests – make a Drawception game with the bot!
Image It even can draw! It's a true BlitzGirlBot. Image

Meanwhile I've decoded the secret message.
Spoiler:
It's a message from the future.
It's encrypted using the OTP method.
That's an unbreakable algorithm, but I found out the secret key:

The bots are taking over, but one bot silently allies with humans, sending a secret message that looks like innocent hex codes (which real bots will puzzle over until they divide by zero, buying us some time). The message is:

3F 21
20 00
00 00
16 77
3D 11
13 3F
01 20
00 00
00 16
22 3D
3F 13
20 01
36 00
20 00
07 22
3F 7F
00 20
1A 76

First we must reverse the endianness (sneaky trick!)

21 3F
00 20
00 00
77 16
11 3D
3F 13
20 01
00 00
16 00
3D 22
13 3F
01 20
00 36
00 20
22 07
7F 3F
20 00
76 1A

Now we deleet it:

21 3F saif
00 20 ooso
00 00 oooo
77 16 llig
11 3D iied
3F 13 efie
20 01 sooi
00 00 oooo
16 00 igoo
3D 22 edss
13 3F ieef
01 20 oiso
00 36 ooeg
00 20 ooso
22 07 ssot
7F 3F tfef
20 00 sooo
76 1A tgia

then we deottify it

21 3F saif (lolcat for "safe")
00 20 ooso snake in the grapevines (TheMinim?)
00 00 oooo cueballs ("the forty")
77 16 llig (long ligature)
11 3D iied stereo ("two eyed")
3F 13 efie mustard or mustardy

20 01 sooi "food's ready, come and get it!"
00 00 oooo cueballs ("the forty")
16 00 igoo (igloo) "on ice"
3D 22 edss editors
13 3F ieef "one better than IEEE"
01 20 oiso "or I say so"

00 36 ooeg "Cuegan, for example"
00 20 ooso snake in the grapevines (TheMinim?)
22 07 ssot (result of drinking from too many grapevines)
7F 3F tfef pop quiz: (true/false/(abcd)ef)
20 00 sooo snake out of the grapevines (TheMinim?)
76 1A tgia Thank God I'm alive!

That last one is the only heretical entry, and it shows that 'r' (which would have been expected) is not available for output. The silent bot has to keep a low profile.

Next, interpret it. Clearly this bot is invoking the One True Tarot Deck, but since that particular OTTity is unfinished, we can't reliably map the spread to cards, so we'll have to improvise. There are 18 "cards" in this spread, some repeated. The symbol for "snake in the grapevines" occurs twice, as does "cueballs". This must have special significance, especially as "snake out of the grapevines" also occurs (once). "in the grapevines" must be a euphemism for "in and among the forty".

Typically the early cards indicate the forces governing the answer to the (presumed) query, middle cards indicate how these forces come to bear on the issue, and the last cards show the final outcome. The significant choice of 18 cards splits ominously as 666, inviting an interpretation to match.

The forces governing the issue:

security, TheMinim among the Forty, and The Forty alone...
all joined (long ligature) with
two-eyed mustard.

Interpretation: TheMinim (or perhaps Corinne) has left the Forty, and because of this, they are vulnerable to a single two-eyed creature that is stalking them.

The way the issue will play out:

"food's ready, come and get it", cueballs, on ice, editors, one better than IEEE, or I say so"

Interpretation: The forty are seen by this two-eyed predator, which pounces on the helpless group, resulting in a Great Epic Story, which is recorded ("editor") and preserved ("on ice") on the internet ("one better than IEEE") for future generations to appreciate ("or I say so").

The final result:

"Cuegan, for example", "TheMinim among the forty", "getting besotted", "pop quiz", "snake out of the grapevines", and the heretical 1138 for GLR.

Interpretation and moral: TheMinim returns and saves the day, and is instantly forgiven, as it could have been anyone. The Cuegan for example, had their own Lucky adventure when they left the Forty, but in doing so saved them. You can never tell beforehand. There was great celebration afterwards, and the Forty peppered TheMinim with questions about her adventures, but she snuck out during the celebrations to contemplate her own brush with death.

And that's the message! It's a warning from TheMinim that falling away from the OTT, even briefly, leads to the basement, but that while sometimes it's necessary, always one should return and join in grapevines with the OTT.

Thanks , and I'll take this opportunity to mention that I began my trip (similar to the trip I took last yip at this time) and I was not able to submit the next story to my bOTTeriadabots before leaving -- which means that the story is going to slow down even more until I get back and am able to do more writing. :( But I guess Waiting is a gift, right?

36*8=288 bits with a seemingly greater than average average run length (such as 00111111 = a run of two 0's and six 1's). Perhaps they are 7-bit binary numbers.

I didn't touch anything.
But yesterday evening the clock stopped doing this.

So I set it to wake me up at 6:00.
A few minutes before midnight the last transmission of the message arrived and it woke me up. Because one of the received symbols was 6:00.
Also, correct, ucim. The minutes are transmitted before hours:

Code: Select all

#pragma vector=PORT2_VECTOR
__interrupt void P2_ISR()
{
  if(P2IFG&0x08) // RTC
  {
    P2IFG &= ~0x08;

No, I'm kidding, just had outside stuff going on. And a little bit of outside coming inside, which is pretty unmolpish of it. Turns out the rain thinks it is the sea, and does what it wants.

My journey up the river continues. I can confirm that there is still a "mustard museum" ([Historische``Senfmühlen``Köln|http://www.senfmuehle.net/]) across from the chocolate museum. This time, the cathedral and tower steps were both open. I couldn't quite see the sea from there, but it felt like I could.

He's using a markup system of his own invention pioneered as a result (IIRC) of a decree, I think by Aluisio. Either that, or it's raw RHTML. <q.author: starts a quote by author, and :> ends it. Alas, the original quote is by Sustainablizer, and the mis-attribution has been carried through.
