I don't know, I never really liked the juice inside Gushers myself. I'd rather squeeze the "juice" out and just eat the "rind."

After reading about what these things are, I'm reminded ofSchool Bars - I live in UK/you might not get them over in US. When people say that diamonds are the hardest mineral known to man, they're wrong - School Bars are. They're listed as having 500% fruit in them and if you were to smack one against a table, it would most likely break the table.

Actually, it's more like candy manufacturers introducting candy in candy form with cartoony fruits printed on the packaging.

I have absolutely no idea what this XKCD is about.

Anyone can explain?

Is it simply a joke that everybody has a lot of kitchen appliances they don't use? And what the hell are fruit gushers?

As I understood it:
Someone got themselves a nice shiny fruit juicer, possibly with the intention of living healthier, more natural or some other hippie claptrap.
Only... they they prefer "juicing" heavily processed junk that is almost, but not entirely, unlike fruit.

The thing that made me giggle (enough that my kids came over demanding an explanation) was the solid colors in the juice bottles - not only is Randall juicing his candies, he's manually segregating them by color first. Adding OCD to the silliness gets extra nerd points from me.

You can buy single flavors of gushers though. The effort you described is true if he is buying the ones that have multiple flavors in each pouch.

Ah, the humour is contigent on knowing what the product on the left is. Despite one of my children attending kindergarten, I haven't happened across these.

I'm having a flashback to the Snappy Mart Slush Puppy of the 1970s: friend of mine had to ask if green is lime and red is cherry and orange is orange, what the heck flavor is blue? Turned out blue was coconut, and from then on every weekend Brian had to have a blue coconut Slush Puppy every weekend before we went off hiking in the mountains.

When I revisited with a girlfriend about twenty years later, I told her about the incident and made sure we both got blue Slush Puppies. Apparently by that time the flavor had changed, and blue was now kerosene.

I had a juicer, once. I used it to make carrot juice, which I love.

I'd spend 10 minutes peeling the carrots, one minute juicing them, then 9 minutes cleaning the juicer.

So in return for 20 minutes of work, I had a full, glorious minute of enjoying carrot juice.

Somehow it didn't seem like a good deal.

It's odd; I know what Fruit Gushers are, but I don't remember if I've ever had any. So I don't even know whether I'm missing out.

Speaking of juices; If apple juice comes from squeezing apples, and prunes are made from dehydrating plums, where does prune juice come from?

If you put a prune in a juicer, what would you get?

Having become a Wizard on n.p. 2183, the Yellow Piggy retroactively appointed his honorable self a Temporal Wizardly Piggy on n.p.1488, not to be effective until n.p. 2183, thereby avoiding a partial temporal paradox. Since he couldn't afford two philosophical PhDs to rule on the title.
