Title Text: 'Now, minions, I'm off to inspect our shark cages.' 'Do you really need to inspect them this often?' 'PRISONERS MUST NEVER ESCAPE.'

Next thing you know it's "Shark Month"...

Well, statistically, if he keeps releasing enough sharks, one of them is bound to attack the prisoners eventually.

Well, maybe one of the prisoners, anyway.
In all fairness...

How does releasing sharks turn an island into a marine biology center?

You have it all backwards. The sharks are the prisoners.

I'm totally lost on this one. Google doesn't help much either, except a vague hint that it might be Minecraft-related. Anyone care to explain?

I guess it's because you need to breed a lot of sharks (which is a good opportunity to study them) before you can set them free. Or something like that... :?

someone who is really into sharks camouflaging his shark breeding center as a stereotypical 007-villain hideout, i'd say.
(reversed expectations - now that is irony!)

I'd say it depends entirely on the type of shark. Far as I've heard, most species of shark are not big man-munching great whites, just weird fish that live at the bottom of the sea, like cat sharks (you're a kitty-fish! \o/) and angelsharks.

Came here expecting the xkcdsucks antifanbois to post stuff about xkcd jumped the shark.

Was disappointed. Which made me not-disappointed.

I went there to see what all the fuss was about recently, after posting a joke GIF near the beginning of it all and I tried. I TRIED SO HARD. But then I raged and had to post.

If you do the same thing over and over, you will eventually get a different result. Error can be a wonderful thing.

If expectations were always based on reality, Western society might look completely different.

This reminds me of a story I heard - there's a lot of crazies who try to find Atlantis, often taking grant money under the pretence that they are doing oceanographic studies while in reality all they want is to find the mythical city. There was at least one occasion where it happened backwards though - some scientists took money from an eccentric millionaire possessed with the idea of Atlantis and secretly used it to map the bottom of the ocean for science.

I've resisted so far. Now it's another thread where I know there's stuff going on but I don't think it's good for me. It's like having the sauna and cold plunge pool right there. They're both kind of compelling but eventually both start to seem like a bad idea. Not sure that's a good metaphor, but.

Don't James Bond villains generally keep their punishment fish in tanks not connected to open water? I'd say it's reverse Johnny English.

Yet there seem to be fewer accounts specifically used to react to comics about sharks than there are to react to comics about certain other topics (not elaborating further to avoid infection by a flame war).
