I would suspect the choir is for the taller bald one, since it is that character making the move and proposing, there for most likely the owner of the naration.

Their wedding is kind plain.

p.s. in the comic, i'm the blonde, and the brunette never showed up with the chorus, but i got dumped anyway. and i'm terribly bitter about it but i still don't know whether there's a chorus of angels.

I tried to get talking about when it is that you "know" in the old SB marriage thread. I have accepted that what I have is what I want (for now), but am not nearly over the "what if I'm missing a choir????" thing.

So basically a lot of my relationship doubt is summed up in this comic. Brilliant.

"What you have is what you want" is a paradox, isn't it? In order to want things, you need to not have them. Not to get into the happiness is in the pursuit philosophy, but the definition of "want" is to desire that which you don't have, I think. I don't want a signed copy of Sandman: Brief Lives, I already have it.* Though I do want to not lose it. . .

"What you have today is what you want tomorrow" might be a better way to put it. Or maybe that's implied and I just wasted a post.

*Yes, I have a copy of Brief Lives signed by Neil Gaiman. I just wanted to point that out.

I felt compelled to come comment on this one, because it hit close to home - I had a boyfriend in college who was terrified of committing to anything or anyone, because he was afraid that something better (or in his words, "the right one") would come along.

(Just imagine how that felt...any time we went out somewhere, I knew he was keeping an eye out, just in case. That usually manifested in him hitting on waitresses and checkout counter girls.

For a non-romantic/sexual example: he was visiting me and my family for the holidays and while we were in a different city, he got a job offer for New Years' Eve - and instead of being happy to share the holidays with friends and loved ones - specifically me! -, he was disappointed and angry for missing the opportunity to make money. It wasn't even a well-paid job.

...why we kept dating is a topic for a whole 'nother post!)

In the end, all it meant was that he could never (and will never) be satisfied with what he's got, no matter how good it was (or is). I think that's a sad way to live.

Luckily, life and love is more like the first panel than the third and fourth. There's no chorus of angels...it's hard work, but ultimately so rewarding.

I just thought I'd point out that there is a movie that has this as the central storyline. Only they haven't quite gotten married yet. The end choice is rather surprising, and overall its a pretty funny one. Its titled Its a Guy Thing. Check it out if you like (I'm sure you all have sources..)

I... I love this one. I can feel it on so many levels. I know exactly what that feels like. Any lesson that this comic might try to teach me I feel I already know all to well. It's just so sad, for me, anyway. The timing of this comic probably couldn't have been any better either. Damn you and your comic of pure awesomeness! It makes me want to cry...
