Indeed, thanks for the link!

Also, it seems we have some sort of... big rock slab. Oh no :(

All the more reason for Rosetta to be worried. They're going to be spending a long, long time together.

Or a very, very short time together. I'm not sure which is worse, from Philae's point of view.

The question marks may have killed most of the spacewhales, they may even have killed Cueball, but they will not kill the slab of rock!

Hello to the future from a blitzer

Postby cellocgw » Wed Nov 12, 2014 1:34 pm UTC

I never had to blitz the OTT (having dropped in as it started), but seeing as 10+ pages filled up here before I got out of bed (and walked the dogs, etc.), here I go on my own Spaaaace! blitz.

I knew immediately what the Comic-title meant, seeing as I've been following the probe's status via BadAstronomy for quite some time. So , this note is from half-way thru Page 2. THo' I admit to peeking to find out about the reddit collection, for which I thank whoever (as well as A. S. for creating Reddit).

I suspect it's going to be a close race to see if I can reach the New Present Time before the probe actually lands in outer-world time.

Has anyone else considered that Philae on the head of the comet is dangerously close to being analogous to a laser strapped to a frickin' shark? What if the comet gains sentience, and with the data contained in Philae (plus its link to the "LAN" and then back to Earth), decides to come after us?

Well, that didn't take long-- here I am (was) in the present Page.

So... where the heck is the long-deceased Neil Boekend? I didn't notice him at all in this thread.

BTW, my vote re the empty bookshelves is they were full of manuals back in 2004 when the mission started, but some grad students were assigned to gutenberg.org-ize everything into epubs, so no need for the hardcopy any more.

Either that or the control team is planning on getting a seriously large number of trophys for this landing, and the shelves are reserved for them.
