Argh I'm late.
I literally spent the whole lecture refreshing xkcd, and I still missed it...

For the pic of the bird wearing the helmet, I put: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eaglet has landed." :)

I suspect this comic would be a lot more fun if I was able to draw or if the drawing submitted by others were remotely creative or interesting or even....good.

You can draw things, Kat.

I believe in you! You can do it!

It's really hard to draw with a mouse.... and also the comic seems to have broken since I first tried it, as I only get a blank frame with "..." when I click on it.

It's more about making jokes than it is about drawing well.

I guess we just have to wait until enough people have drawn cat pictures.
It's on the internet, they do have cats, don't they?

I get the impression that some of the "reconstructed" posts are randomly created from existing images and captions, but are not matching (i.e. they don't make sense), but that could be the result of choosing one of the captions when none really matched (instead of creating an original one).
I changed that last sentence a few times and I do not wish to re-read it, so if it does not make sense, blame Mark Zuckerberg or Google for not being responsible for the contents and applying filters.

I believe the suggested answers have nothing to do with the text. I saw my own text apear back to me without the picture I wrote it to in the suggestions and vice versa.

It seems that that is a common error. I think the server isn't quite able to handle the load.

Well, they do send some request to the server, which is presumably recorded... exactly what effect that has is yet to be clear...

The cursor in this behaves as if it had a lot of inertia. It responds slowly to my mouse movements and keeps going when I stop.

It makes it more difficult to draw.

Currently on xkcd.com the xkcd webpage frames are preserved, but on xkcd.com/1506 they are gone.

I'm going to take a break because I keep seeing the same pictures and prompts over and over again. I wonder what it takes for new drawings/prompts to enter the regular circulation.

I'm guessing it's manual, to avoid it being flooded with the inevitable dick picks and racial slurs... this is the Internet, after all.
HES wrote:Not working for me, what does it actually do?

It shows a fake Facebook-oid post, and shows either text or a picture, and asks you to supply a picture/text to go with it. You have a choice of 5 randomly-selected ones from its pool, or can enter your own. Either enter your own text in a text box, or draw your own picture with a simple sketching canvas thing. You then submit it, and you can see a handful of other submissions by other people, and you can "like" them if you want. Repeat endlessly.

The assumption is that some of the user-entered texts and pictures will at some point enter the rotation to be presented as the prompts or options for future users, but for now that doesn't seem to be happening... it looks like it's mostly the ones that it started with.

I have been trying to get redundakitties in it but I have failed for now.

Edit: images are appearing partially. Including images I have seen in full before. In fact, an overloaded server fits with the premise of the comic.

This one made me chuckle. Some of them actually match up, and I've been drawing in pictures in for fun, makes me feel like I'm playing a quiet game of Pictionary.

My contribution. I'm proud. Normally my drawings more closely resemble the artwork of Jackson Pollock, but without the actual creative intent to do so.

I noticed this comic does not work on xkcd dot org due to the Access-Control Policy trying to load resources on xkcd dot com. And for some reason this message is getting flagged as spam, hence the "dot"
