I'm staring at this bracket, and all I can see is how asymmetric and imbalanced it is.

George Orwell emerged victorious from the Western Conference. That second round match-up against Jack Daniels was a tough one, but he persevered. Jack Nicholson made a hard push in the Conference finals, but Orwell was steadfast.

Over in the east the mighty Bill Murray had no problem overcoming the clearly weaker Eastern Conference. This allowed him to be very rested for the finals against a beleaguered Orwell.

George Orwell vs. Bill Murray? I can't decide that one.

Yes, but is that BBC "The Doctor" or Voyager "The Doctor"?

In the first round, even. The Doctor versus Cory Doctorow? That's the one I want tickets for.

Your version of the picture has a few bits that are different from the one I see. (Three bits, to be specific.) I can only think that there was a momentary glitch with your Internet connection. Try hitting Ctrl-F5 to re-download the image, it should clear up.

Dr. Strange vs. Doctor Manhatan? That one's actually pretty interesting, but whoever wins it is going to take the whole thing. You really don't even need any other rounds.

I'm mostly wondering what this bracket is for. Winning in a fight? Being most awesome (or most popular)? Prettiest? Smartest?

Rap battles perhaps?

The Doctor and The Doctor could easily be matched up. Why not match up ALL The Doctors?

I'm reminded of the song...

Its like Fleetwood Mac, Biggie and 2-pac in a game of Twister

Great, an opportunity to mention my gripe about Bed Bath and Beyond. A bed bath is a wash that the nurse gives you in hospital if you're too sick or immobile to get to the bathroom. So that puts me in mind of a very ill hospital patient, in which context "beyond" suggests the Great Beyond. It doesn't help that (I'm pretty sure) the name of the shop doesn't have a comma. "Bed, bath and beyond" would be infinitely less disturbing. I can only assume that "bed bath" doesn't have the same meaning in the US: am I right?

And another thing: what's the being that he wanted to have "Dr Who" next to Dr No, giving out a much better rhythm, but couldn't risk the wrath of a certain group of fans?

If the question is: "Who's the most ridiculous fictional character?" Then they might stand a chance. But i'd still vote for dr Strangelove.

I've only ever heard "sponge bath" for this, as a USian.

"I'm staring at the "doctor" section, and I can't help but feel like I've forgotten someone."
- "Who?"
"Exactly!"

This feels a great deal like Abbot & Costello and would make The Doctor indeed being the Voyager's EMH. I'd like that.

I feel like the "forgot a doctor" "Who?" "Yes!" joke might have been a possibility, but he did already include "The Doctor" in the roster, which is exactly the same person, so... hmm... My first instinct was that he must have been referring to Doctor Seuss, one of the most recognizeable Doctor names in the English speaking world, and conspicuously absent from the list.

Reading other posts, I see that there are quite a few more relatively famous Doctor names out there. I'm familiar with about half of the names that have been submitted as the "forgotten" name.

there are also a few more I can think of... Doctor Demento, Doctor Hibbert, Doctor Death ... also if certain Professors have PhD's, it may be that Doctor Xavier and Doctor Ludwig Von Drake are possible contenders ;)

The doctor he forgot about is obviously Dr. Dre, in part a reference to #1093.
