Title text: The likely shape of the bells was determined through consultation with several bellringing experts at the Tower of London. Transcripts of those interviews are available in Appendix VII.

That sure reminds me of the typical forum thread here...

As a resident of Charleston, I'm curious to know which church is this about?
We have several. That's why we're nicknamed the Holy City.

Well, in my analysis of thread activity outside of the Enigmas And Diversions boards, after thoroughly normalising posting times according to best-guess timezones of each poster against a Radar Chart plot (see Ref3)…

Did you window them first? I think that might be a thing which is done to stuff on occasion. [totally-bland-face emoticon]

The wooshing you hear is the sound of the souls of grad students who did the research being sucked from their bodies.

Hit the nail on the head, combined with the PhD prospective wanting to choose a uber-specific, non-controversial topic.

Does anybody else want to read that report now?

Was prepared to post the thread, if necessary, in order to say I want to read that paper.

That's at least three of us who may be interested in the rocking minarets, then.

What happens when you build a fancy mosque-like thing with twin minarets in the middle of a desert, and incorporate wood into the stonework (shown over the centuries to be a good idea in an earthquake zone)? You get a bouncy castle. When someone goes up the steps in one minaret, you can see the other one swaying too ... allegedly. It was closed when we were there.

It's actually a grave-marker. That's someone's tomb inside.

They've got a cement-free one in India:

Yes. Yes, I do.

The comic left us on a cliffhanger, never knowing if the bells truly did ring.

I wonder how many points getting one of us to actually do the research and write that paper is worth in Black Hat's nerd sniping game.

A mere 100 page treatise? The "Time" thread is much longer than that. This thread can be hijacked, expanded, and turned into that treatise. Get researching, folks, and sign your work; 15 pages merely to list all the author's names. Then we find a suitable ejournal for the result. And if one of us has a decently low Erdős number ...
