0017: "What If"

Postby rx235 » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:59 pm UTC

Alt Text: I once made an anniversary card for my then-girlfriend with this layout.

[Disclaimer] The search function isn't really helpful when trying to locate a thread containing "What if", so I hope I didn't miss a previous thread of the same name. [/Disclaimer]

I was wondering if the layout is loosely based on a Julia set (see attachment or the site I stole it from) or if the similarity is just coincidental.

Thanks.

I think it's just based on drawing circles a lot to fit in a bigger circle. I doubt there's much math involved.

It is actually an integral Apollonian circle packing defined by circle curvatures of (-6,10,15,19).

I was about to mention this. Curse you, Prometheus, for stealing my fire thunder!

I see what you did there, cause Prometheus was the guy with the fire and whatnot... Very smooth Mr. Potatohead.
