Yeah this is the first one in a while that really seemed in toe with some of the earlier comics

I almost want to try this phrase out in real life, just to see what kind of reaction I would get.

nah it's a sort of half step back type stance... like he's knelt down and she's thought "what is he doing?"... :-) (at least that's how I see it)

Seeing as my wife is 1to 3 weeks away from dropping our first little nerd-ling I find it very poignant. :-)

The current ctrl-alt-del strip series is a bit like that too

This is the quickest I have ever gotten in after the posting of the comic. Huzzah. I definitely think we need to test this "Von Neumann" hypothesis...

I love the perfect arm positioning on both of them. As well, this is one of the best uses of a lack of faces; we can interpret this in so many ways by choosing what facial expressions they have. Then we can choose different ones, and it's funny again in a totally different way!

Yes, there must be empirical evidence. It would be a messy experiment, wherein our hero would engage in said reproduction while yelling "science works, bitches!"

I find the idea that we're just collections of interlocking nanoscale Von Neumann machines a bit depressing. I know it's a fair description, but I still find being reminded of it depressing. Of course, it might only be seasonal depression coupled with having gone off my meds again.

I was actually thinking of this a while ago, and determined that our brains made us very picky Von Neumann Machines as well.

Industrial Grade Nano-Paste, Planet's most valuable commodity, can also be one of its most dangerous. Simply pour out several canisters, slide in a programming transponder, and step well away while the stuff cooks. In under an hour the nano will use available materials to assemble a small factory, a hovertank, or enough impact rifles to equip a regiment.

I'd like to slide in a programming transponder, if you know what I mean.

Also, your printer is pregnant. And you're the father.

We are nanomachines. We are bags of water containing fire, fuel, and oxygen. We are amazing.

DNA is like compiled machine code. The amino acids are like assembler. The proteins are like the compiled high-level statements.

Dude, this is creepy considering how many dreams I've been having about pregnancy recently.

I find it seriously disconcerting that sex makes babies, and I want it to stop.

I feel like the speaker in this comic is a little too awkward for the full comedy to hit me. It's like he just found out about reproduction or something.

On a positive note, this comic reminds me of this Dinosaur Comic that I was always very fond of:
