This one was awesome.

That's gotta hurt, though.

Hi-yo, after some requests in the Livejournal feed comments, I whipped together an animated version of the comic. You can clicky clicky for the goodness: http://community.livejournal.com/random ... 63460.html

Has anyone else noticed that the last 5 of 6 xkcd strips (excluding the 'imaginary friends' one) have featured a couple?

Is Randall projecting perhaps?

::dons her best Mae West impersonation:: My love life should be so interesting.

Cyberia: it happens. It could be he's particularly girlfriend inspired at the moment. Maybe it's her birthday this week and he wanted to let her know how awesome she is? Maybe this is the week they met? Maybe he's drawing a fake girlfriend cuz he just lost his and doesn't want to do the romantic non-humor-based inner-thoughts kind of stuff he used to do cuz he's afraid all the alpha-geeks will beat him up and call him emo.

I believe they can pull it off (pun intended), since he learned Python and she's made the right choice.

I'm sure he has a way to make their clothes instantly disappear when they become airborne, or right as they hit the bed.

So many people paid attention to the slack of the rope, but what about the ramp of the skateboard?

By the time the male makes it down the half-pint (I think that's what my fellow teenagers call that. D= I'm so unconnected with my peers), he will most likely not be able to coordinate the skateboard such that he can lift the first set of wheels onto the incline and then the second set! I had a major problem with my IB physics Group IV experiment (which involved a ball rolling down an incline, then across a plane, then up another incline) because I was too lazy craft it such that there was a smooth transition from plane to upward incline, which caused the ball to just smack against it! I fear the same for our male sex fiend - or is that why the rope is as lengthy as it is (since the bottom would go below the surface of the bed)?

Either way, pretty good. Those subcontinental people really know how to make extreme sports.

AlphaSquirrel wrote:This actually seems brilliant. It's a simple role reversal. The man roles down the hill off the ramp and while airborne w/ no where to go but where there is pain waiting to happen the woman comes swinging towards him in mid-air and saves him. At the end of all this once the rope stops swinging it will hang above the bed and the man will have to pay the woman back for saving his life in "the only way he knows how" so they just slide (not actually slide in fear of rope burn) down the rope to the bed for the man to service the woman.

Let's hope they removed the Power Rangers from their playlist.

I'm not sure if that was meant to be a joke or not, but the term is "half pipe." :)

This is one of those strips where I can't imagine what's going to happen next, but I don't care and I'm not even going to bother to speculate because that's not necessary to the joke. In fact, this is one of those strips where the caption is everything and you could replace the illustration with just about anything you can think of, and still make it funny. Hmmmmm...

Has anyone ever seen a mistranslation like that in some sort of kama sutra book? Or any tips that sound like they must have been derived from such a mistranslation?

I just want to say--and I have believed this for some time now--that Randall is a god among humorists. Please, for the safety of you, me, & everybody, promise never to allow any meeting between yourself and Jon Stewart to be observed, bcuz teh wurld a splode.

(as far as the Rube Goldberg Sutra thing goes, though, I say have at it)

(hell yes, with Jon Stewart!)

My physics professor tried to base a momentum problem off of this comic this morning. He didn't have a lot of time, so it didn't work out too well, but at least it was entertaining.

My school on the other hand has full page printouts of a half-dozen of the comics on the walls of the upper-level computer science lab. So much for being a prudish Baptist college.

Clearly Tom Cruise has a similar translation of the Kama Sutra. He even tries his own version of this sexual position:

I read the Kama Sutra.
Not nearly this cool. Half+ of it's on social relations, and what is about sex is generally categorizing the types of kisses and things kinda like..
"If the man is of a higher social status and the woman is young, she is to act bashful, even unsure of the activities present. He is to sit on her left side, and with his right hand brush her long hair off of her right shoulder."

I hope they aim well, if they go for mid-air sexual meeting.

If he's too low, it's not much of a problem, he'll just get a mouthful of female body bits.

If he's too high, then *OUCH*. Probably mostly for him, but she might also have some nasty bruising. :P

Timing may be an issue, but depending on the misses' orientation upon decent, I'd be more worried about y-axis alignment.

totally off topic but - i'm not computer literate and can someone help me? if i put the cursor on a picture a box pops up that says something (like a comment by mr. xkcd), but it won't stay there long enough to read and it trails off so i don't know what else it says.

That is called the 'alt text' and it is your friend.

Right click on the comic, click 'properties', a box will then pop up with the alt text in it. You can either drag the box until it's big enough for you to read the comment or you can copy+paste the alt text into your text editor of choice.
