Let me be the first to point out that "Girls" is on the Y axis and "Cups" is on the X axis. Of course, it's not really a graph.

I am really a fan of this one. It is, I think, my favorite of all the searching google for a joke comics.
I make this comic.

Given what I've heard about the video, I think the 2girls1cup number should be concave-down like a frown. It's too happy for the video--or at least for my impression of the video. I hope never to see it.
I came here to read a cool post, a witty dialogue, a fresh joke, but stumbled upon a "bump"...

I sincerely hope, for Randall's mental well-being, that he somehow configured Google to avoid looking at actual images of 2G1C. ._.

Massive lolz at 3frenchhens2turtledoves1cup. I give /b/ a week day to come up with a full "12 Days of Internet Memes" song.

I've noticed that all of these meme comics are showing up around the same time. Maybe Randall just got the idea for a bunch of comics at once?

I've heard that SWAP.avi is worse, actually.

Also, ha. Ha.

And I haven't seen either of them! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I find it monumentally dismaying that millions, MILLIONS, will gleefully suspend their distrust for authority simply because they were told what everyone knew they wanted to hear.

When people started talking about the whole 2girls1cup thing, I was just like uhhh... has no one heard of swap.avi?

How about X1 to N Girls YA to DD Cups
When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. It is clear that all the: ills of mankind, tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, political blunders, failures of great leaders; arise merely from the lack of skill in dancing. Molière

The domain apparently is taken already though. Possibly by Randall himself. HOPEFULLY by Randall himself, or at least someone who has a really funny idea of what to do with it.

Even if this was a graph this would be entirely irrelevant as variables are completely arbitrary.

I really appreciate the distribution in the data. It is obvious that the variations such as xgirls1cup and 2girlsxcups have the smallest falloff with change in the variable, and then the variations with 0 generally do more poorly than expected if you ignore the context. I think that this is much more than just another "internet meme" comic. It's at least math, even if it doesn't explicitly present an equation or name a theorem.

But the data of Girls itself is on the x-axis, and the data on Cups is on the y-axis.

better question, what is with these outliers?

is there some incredible dislike for 5 girls that even 1 cup couldn't overcome? or the same for 3 cups even though there are 2 girls?

We must try to find this through science!

Also, I'd love to see the look on the face of an FBI/CIA/NSA/KFC/etc agent looking through Randall's search history.

One thing I found interesting.

The amount of space between those oddities and "2G1C" is 2 girls, and 1 cup.

I fail to see how this comic is actually a "joke" in any real way. The idea of searching for variations on girls and cups has potential for amusement, but does not actually deliver anything unexpected. The greatest number of results is for 2 girls, 1 cup, as surmised. So? I assume the "humor" is more like, "hey, this is referring to that 2 girls 1 cup thing! I recognize that reference!" than anything worthwhile.

The alt-text has a joke, though--even if it falls short of an entire 12 Days of Internet Memes thing.

Call me nitpicky, but did anyone else get slightly bugged by the plural form being left alone?

"<X> Girls <Y> Cups" would have "1 Cups" when X=1

It is incredible how many references there are to 1 girl 2 cups. I don't even want to contemplate any combination of x girls and y cups or what such search results might entail.

Whether or not most people who've heard of the vid have seen it, isn't it a bit strange that you can now make a joke about a scat fetish flick and nearly everybody will get it?

No one claimed it was a joke, but something can still be humorous even if it isn't a joke. Most xkcd don't have "jokes" per se, I think.

The humor resides in
1. doing math(kinda . . statistics?) on something so crude. Is this a type of satire (satire can be treating a serious thing in a nonserious way ("What do we do about the famine? Eat Irish children!") or treating something silly in a serious way (can't think of an example besides this comic))?
and
2. that people would create all those variations from that meme.

Maybe not the best xkcd, but whatever.

The first 0 wasn't until like 101.
