0475: "Further Boomerang Difficulties"

Alt-text: An eternity later, the universe having turned out to have positive curvature and lots of mass, the boomerang hits him in the back of the head.

To the person who edited my post: I know the difference between title="" and alt="", fucktard. Alt-text is a local slang referring to the tooltip. When in Rome...

I suppose a closer-to-home analogy would be, "When on the XKCD forums, be completely pedantic over every tireless detail that nobody cares about."

I want my alt text! :(

Edit: I also noticed this is my 42nd post! Huzzah!

(And perhaps the joke is on us, and Randall wanted to create mass insanity by not giving us an alt text. Or perhaps the boomerang broke it.)

This wasn't that funny, but maybe that's because it is just a rehash of an older comic? Also, where'd the alt text go?

Gee I hope we can get to the moon within my lifetime, must remember to NOT bring a boomerang though...

For exciting, nonsensical boomerang comics, read the columns instead of the rows.

The second column is my favorite comic that way.

After recent mess-ups in the comics with links to "/None" and such, I wonder if something is up with Randall's comic-uploading program.

I also wonder how long it will be until the first 14 panels of this comic get incorporated into a bigger, better, "DIY Boomerang Comic" site.

I must say, the whole Lunar Module bit created spontaneous laughter.

Oh, and there's gravity on the guy, so either he's actually on Earth, or in immediate proximity to the Moon, in which case, fuck.

Oh god dammit I just realized he was kind of floating after he threw it. Poor soul.

My favorite is top right to bottom left.

And perhaps it will improve with title text (because it isn't alt text).

Top right to bottom left is pretty good!

By rearranging the panels, we have been provided with so many comics today, you guys.

Well, there IS a difference between this comic and the previous one: at this, no boomerang returns, while at the previous something always came back.

And why da hell someone would pick the last banana and throw it away, thinking it was a boomerang?

I just hate it when boomerangs break my comic strip. It even messes up the mouse-over text. Maybe someday it will come back to Randall and he will be whole again.

I'm going to go back to the old Boomerang comic and see if that one was as fun to recontextualize by reading the panels in the wrong order.

EDIT: OH YEAH! I forgot that the whole recontextualization thing was proposed in that comic's title text to begin with.

Not to mention if you look in the discussion thread for it there's a site that allows you to do just that, as well as many suggested new strips.

And because I feel like being pedantic, technically today's strip does have title text - it's fully defined in the source code. It's just blank (i.e. title="").

By the way, this gives you hours of fun rearranging the first boomerang comic panels.

Didn't seem very funny until the last panel. Way to twist the old "broken panel" joke. :)

QUICK! Now we have to start arranging the panels in this comic with panels from the last boomerang comic.

And then add in panels from comics that have nothing to do with boomerangs.

It will be artistic gold.

EDIT: I don't want to stretch the page so... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/ ... icGOLD.jpg

What I want to know is who the third person in the comic is. He throws the banana. A voice is heard from off stage left. She enters stage right. Something is just not quite right...

i also agree with the second column across read down is the best. it looks like he's humping the boomerang out the panel. yesterday WAS national humping day so....
