WTB alt-text!

What was the dumbass doing throwing a boomerang in a space capsule anyways?

Alt-text?

Where is the alt-text? The comic is so-so I'm hoping the alt-text make it up.

As soon as I get home, I'll add all these panels to my version of the randomiser (which I made 'cause muku's was down... though it seems to be back up now).

Code: Select all

enum ಠ_ಠ {°□°╰=1, °Д°╰, ಠ益ಠ╰};void ┻━┻︵╰(ಠ_ಠ ⚠) {exit((int)⚠);}

My bet is that Randall was expecting to not need a comic as the world was supposed to end on Wednesday, and he had to rush to make this one and missed the alt text (which is actually title text).

I would have liked to see the last shot on the same line as the shot where the boomerang breaks out of the panel. But then again it may have been awkward that way.

So I'm just gonna shut up and figure R knows best.

Is the US still going to return to the moon by 2020? I would love to see an astronaut throw a banana on the lunar surface. Now that would be hysterical. Puncturing the lunar module while still in the vacuum of space not so much.

I had to register just to point this out, its so awesome. If you read the second panels only, just like the fourth panels in the original, its a bonus comic.

Do boomerangs work in space?

It's the sort of thing I'd say no to straight away, but google says;

Guys, I think we inspired a sequel comic for the first time in xkcd history. Be proud of what you've accomplished.

That random boomerang site needs to be updated with these new panels.

Also, I wasn't expecting to be so sadden by random boomerang panels. :<

I love Handie's suggestion of bottom left to top right. It's like a horrible horrible accident.

If you read diagonally from second panel going to the right, (1st row panel 2, R2 P3, R3 P4) then it looks really sad. He's looking for a hug from some-one, and the responses aren't what he might hope for...

Or does this just mean that I have some self-esteem issues...?

Edit - with help from the randomiser, here it is...

reading it first down, then up alternately along the columns worked for me, just have to be willing to pretend all the consecutive throwing frames are the same throw. !

### Surrealist xkcd

I think we need a xkcd comic generator that randomizes xkcd comic panels, a la Garfield in http://www.dougshaw.com/garfield.html

The reason there's no title text is obvious: there's no title text is space! What do you think this is, Star Trek?

This one was awesome, poor guy gets beat on pretty bad at the start, then goes on a mad boomerang throwing spree, then kills his girlfriend with one when she leaves him.

What do you mean there is no Alt-text? It works fine for me.

Alt: An eternity later, the universe having turned out to have positive curvature and lots of mass, the boomerang hits him in the back of the head.

Yes, the title text is working now. It wasn't before, but it has been returned to us!

Hmmm, who knew that Apollo 13 was caused by a boomerang? And here I thought it was caused by running Windows 95 on the Command Module. (Can't find the modified image now, drat.)

"An eternity later, the universe having turned out to have positive curvature and lots of mass, the boomerang hits him in the back of the head."

oh.. I was too late to point the TITLE text out.

Oh and I'm kinda of partial to this alternative version of the comic
:)

You are carrying:
- a slightly paranoid Android
- two left feet (not my own)
- a still unfed and very hungry hippo
- broadsword of +5 ridiculousness stained with the blood of the undead souls
- a stetson Resistol, cuz stetson Resistols are cool.

It just so happens that my first thoughts were along the same lines. Therefore, thy will be done:

This was my thought exactly, when I read the posts about the missing alt-texts. Two boomerang-like protons creating a black hole that no alt-text can escape from.

yjester wrote:Well, there IS a difference between this comic and the previous one: at this, no boomerang returns, while at the previous something always came back.

And why da hell someone would pick the last banana and throw it away, thinking it was a boomerang?

He didn't. He was disappointed with the Fruit Graph, and wanted to show Randall just how he felt about bananas.

stormoftara wrote:QUICK! Now we have to start arranging the panels in this comic with panels from the last boomerang comic.

And then add in panels from comics that have nothing to do with boomerangs.

It will be artistic gold.

EDIT: I don't want to stretch the page so... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/ ... icGOLD.jpg

Hopefully, one of those who made a website for the first comic will add the panels from today's comic as well. Also, brilliant comic.

Edit: Ninjaed by phlip.

They're not dots, they're tiny black holes left over from the LHC experiment.

You're right, that one's awesome!
Just when i was about to ask, how a boomerang (or banana for that matter) could do anything harmful to the ozone layer... But with the last panel this actually makes kinda sense!
