Alt Text: Listen, they request that you stop submitting a listing for your house labeled 'WHERE YOU BROKE MY HEART'.
http://xkcd.com/489/EDIT: bah, commentary. I was so flustered and excited to be the first post I forgot. Hope you can all forgive me
about the comic: damn I hate when you can't zoom in. Always kinda thought it was a little odd when you could see cars and stuff o.0
EDIT AGAIN: I've heard Google Maps has given directions like "swim across Atlantic Ocean" for directions from places like New York to London. Myth?

OK, how did Randall miss the space between The and Google in the first line? I could understand that if he were typing these, but they're hand-written...right?
Also, I would have had first thread, if I weren't distracted by the existing "Google Maps" discussion...turns out that was for an older comic.
Also also, it's traditional for the first post in the thread to include a permalink to the comic, as well as some sort of commentary.

She opened it very carefully and folded it up very quickly after he'd seen it, placing it carefully back into the envelope and resealing it just to prove she could.
The title text is my favorite part of this strip.

*does a Meh, repost from other thread that I saw first*
Randall is now in MY head. I found out recently that I could end up working for a video game company who makes my MMO (Guild Wars...I'm an addict). I even asked some of the Anet staff on GW's wiki page about what it is like to work there and they say its nice. So in two years, I may head west to Washington state. But lucky for me, my boyfriend will probably follow. ^^

There are certain levels of depth that google maps will never penetrate I'm afraid.
And I like "theGoogle" too!

TheGoogle sound a little ominous, though I've never really doubted the fact that Google will someday take over the world...

Maybe he didn't have enough room to space The and Google?
Anyway, this was a cute comic. You can't zoom in really close to my house. I wonder if you'd be able to see my car if you could.

Btw, someone mentioned in the other thread that "Isn't Washington in the East?", if you read carefully, I say "Washington State", refering to the one near Oregon that holds the lovely city of Seattle. Just making sure no one asks that again and gets confused.

They found some bug in the old Mexico... allegedly it being a foreign thingy, so they just
had to make a new one.
Hey, you got me thinking... and maybe my originality streak comes from never living in a city which would need a "comma state/country". Each city where I lived can be its own primary key. Ha!

I think it's just more that it didn't seem to fit the panel. I didn't even catch that >_<

The reference to "theGoogle..." possibly a nod to President Bush's line when discussing it, "I use the Google all the time."
Or perhaps he just ran out of space in the panel.
Just a thought.

I wonder why he assumed that being on the Google Maps team meant moving to California, specifically... as far as I'm aware the majority of Maps development is still done out of Sydney, Australia.
(Yes, yes, I know -- maybe that specific position is in CA and they've discussed where the job was before she got the offer... but still...)

The Black Hat Man fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed?
Seriously though, great series. I truly believe it was King's magnum opus. I did have a considerably difficult time getting through "Wizard and Glass", however.
P.S. My first post! (For some reason a Dark Tower reference spurred me to join)

No myth, has been working for quite a long time until it became popular. You can still find lots of pictures through the google image search using your search words above.
The comic is cool... I hate it when this message apears... why can't google just zoom the current picture? Wouldn't add any details yes, but it looks prettier.

I come here to point out that the whole misguided directions on Google Maps thing isn't a myth, and somebody already beat me to it. Oh well, I can at least share my thought that theGoogle is probably just Google catching up with the whole i* and e* fad, but making it their own way. Soon lots of products will imitate Google and be named the* (insert funny names here, as I'm imcapable of coming up with any atm).

The letters does not disappear, they are sideways. Since they have no depth, they are not visible for us here in the 3rd dimension.
