"Dr. Paul! The President's named his nominee!"
"It's not me?"

Personally, I would have nominated Rick Astley for the job. Competition would be good.

lmao

Paranoid Android, moral high ground wouldn't be prejudice towards an entire group of people based on a website they go to.

My adoration for the strip is, unfortunately, eclipsed by the neglected window of taking advantage of the perfectly apt opportunity of using the fabtastic "whence".

Where's the love for whence? What has the world come to?

WHY IS "COMPLETELY" MISSING ITS "O"?

Good news, everybody!

According to the official Obama '08 Application for the iPhone/ iPod Touch, if Obama wins, he will appoint a Chief Technology Officer for the first time, ever.

I think I know who is going to win the general elections, now.

Randall Munroe, ftw.

EDIT: Reading on, Obama says he can integrate technology into the democracy to help the great bloggers help decide matters of governmental affairs.
I don't know if this should make me extremely happy or somewhat scared...

EDIT2: I tried posting on the fact that panel 9 was missing an 'O' (See above post) but it wouldn't let me... Were I and Randy the only ones to notice that there was a space in "C MPLETELY"?

rule 1 & 2?

Dang, and yet i thought Randall Munroe isn't a toddler =/

btw, what does this means?:
'We did not invent the algorithm. The algorithm consistently finds Jesus. The algorithm killed Jeeves.
The algorithm is banned in China. The algorithm is from Jersey. The algorithm constantly finds Jesus.
This is not the algorithm. This is close.'

ps: she accidently the whole 'O'.

the Ronpaul to be the antagionist? This should be an epic battle. Hopefully there's a sword inside of his pimpin' cane. 8)

The second I read the comic I noticed that there are a few missing/changed letters. Looks a lot like a code, but I can't quite get it.
The ones I've found, in order:
1. NANCIENT (should be ancient, maybe the NA is part of the hidden message?)
2. E and L are reversed in "revolution" on the Ronpaul's blimp (EL?)
3. C MPLTELY (missing the O)
so far, we get NAELO, not much, but it might build up over the next entries...

1) NACIENT - NACENT, or ANCIENT?

2) While E and L are reversed, it could also be that every letter besides the beginning and end is also reversed. Specifically, every letter except R and N can be said to be reversed:
R (EVOLUTIO) N

3) C MPLETELY - missing O

I R N O? or N A R N O ?

"ALONE", I think it must be.

EDIT: Actually, the Ronpaul's logo says R(EVOL)UTION, and that word there is NACIENT when it should be NASCENT - which gives a missing S and an extra I - with the O from C MPLETELY, we have SIO. Perhaps more letters are forthcoming? Oh, I do enjoy a good riddler. Keep it coming, Randall!

This comic reminded me about how /b/ hacked Sarah Palin's Yahoo account by googling the answer to her security question.

One of the recommendations is "nanny goat." I think that's what you meant.

Perhaps it's a typo of ancient?

Well, "nascent" means "recently come into being" so that strikes me as the most likely candidate.

... then again, it is also entirely possible that "nanny goat" was the word Randall was going for.

Clearly, the Ronpaul has a sword because he's a pirate and he's fighting the evil ninja's of government from his air pirate ship the Revolution that are making our monies disappear. Soon he will redisperse the booty he claims from government amongst his loyal crew. Aaaargh!!!

Don't really know/care what /b/ is, however, what I do know is that there is no such thing as moral high ground. Especially for people who use the word "faggotry." That is like calling someone an idiot on a forum board and then misspelling part of one's post.

I thought "ancient" was misspelled by accident. I actually looked up Wiktionary for "nacient" because I thought it might be some weird word.

Hey, it made sense at the time.

Nacient is more related to nascent--naciente is the Spanish for nascent; google site:en.wikipedia.org nacient and you will see a page where nacient is used, likely by a native Spanish-speaking editor. I believe that this is either strongly archaic, from French origin, or that Randall was drawing this while in a Latin-American grocery, which I believe he is known to do.

In any case, here is the Spanish definition in context, from the Real Academia Español:
Of something that has very recently begun to be or manifest itself.

And nascent:
being born or beginning

All stemming from Latin nascor.

Just my interpretation.

Um... what? I'm pretty sure I know exactly what a moat is. And if I didn't, the picture in the second panel of the comic gave it away.

toddler thinks you confused moot with moat. Clearly not the case.

Oh, I see. Well in case anyone else is confused: what I meant is that the guy with the black hat having a moat in front of his apartment was a good enough joke for me. "Hey I go to /b/, just like everyone else on the Internet!" ruined the rest of the comic for me.

I don't think either would be good. the Ronpaul wouldn't accept the appointment because he doesn't believe government can regulate the tubes as well as the free market, but even if he did, he'd just keep government out of regulating the tubes.

Rick Astley wouldn't work well, because he's never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you, never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. In other words, he'll rule like the Ronpaul would.

the Ronpaul is a runner. He doesn't need a cane... he needs a jogging suit! (I can totally picture the Ronpaul wearing sweats up in a blimp)

This comic series made me so giddy with excitement that I just had to join the forums and see what was being said.

Eagerly awaiting newest segment! :D

the Ronpaul was a Republican candidate for president during the primaries. His election platform is very much like pre-WWI America, including much smaller government and elimination of the income tax and federal reserve. He was the only candidate from the Republican party who was present to vote against the war in Iraq in 2002.

He's an internet superhero(Explaining his presence in this comic) because we like cantankerous old men. STAY OFF MY LAWN!

EDIT: Ninja'd for great truth. I can't spell Dennis' last name, but I do remember his speech about how a soldier's sacrifice is only valuable if the thing he's sacrificing for is valuable and just. Very few people have the guts to stand up and say "YOU GUYS ARE DYING FOR NOTHING!". I hadn't realised until that moment how "support the troops!" is a frame shift meant to legitimize the war and keep soldiers, citizens, and politicians in line.

I support the troops by not sending them into the asshole of the world to fight and die in a war that didn't need to be fought against a dictator already defeated.

Not true, Dennis Kucinich (a Democratic candidate for president) also voted against it.

just because it is "pretty damn cool and funny" doesn't mean that it isnt cruel and vulgar.

I mean just look at those retarded habbo raids or the whole "posts TITS or GTFO" epidemic.
Yes I will admit that occasionally there is something witty or humerous but that doesn't mean the board as a whole ceases to be cruel and vulgar.

@ Paranoid Android:

The irony is that you are criticizing /b/ for being cruel and negative by using the words "faggotry" and "retarded" which are both offensive to groups of people. How is that any different from what /b/ does?

The irony is that you are criticizing /b/ for being cruel and negative by using the words "faggotry" and "retarded" which are both offensive to groups of people. How is that any different from what /b/ does?

/b/ means it-- Paranoid Android is obviously using it as a level of insultion stemming from the overuse of the word, particularly in places like... /b/. Ohh, wait, do I get a point? :)

Man, I was hoping for those spiffy new 'Imaginary Points'. Anyways, /b/ is very distructive. If you can ever find something constructive that came out of it... let me know.
