The only thing missing is the part where the guy looks down and realizes he's not wearing pants.
But he isn't wearing pants...no one is.

There is no such thing as pants.
So if you don't believe you have a cat, that's actually evidence that you have an infinite cat.

Pants are an illusion.
...And so is death
I'm seriously hoping this is a Half-Life reference, but it seems more meta than that.

I now get this comic. Thanks.

This may be a longshot, but sometimes we have to use a bit of lateral thinking for some of these comics to make sense.
I believe there must be a link between the words bow and boson, perhaps a pun. By Tuesday, they were supposed to find the Higgs Boson particle.
Option 1: something to do with getting our Boson (bows on).
Option 2: ...actually that's all I've got.

How can be death an illusion when in fact you really die?

Because life is an illusion.
Stephen Hawking: Great. The entire universe was destroyed.
Fry: Destroyed? Then where are we now?
Al Gore: I don't know. But I can darn well tell you where we're not—the universe!

I was just kind of assuming that this, or something like it, really happened. I could imagine a situation in which some physics types were hanging out, someone had some strange stuff laying around, one asked about it, and the others decided to respond by making fun of him not "getting it," even if there was nothing to get.

I'd always thought it tied into the episode of Angel named "Supersymmetry": http://www.buffyworld.com/angel/transcripts/071_tran.html
