Title Text: Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.

I haven't watched Serenity or Firefly, but after this series, I want to see them more than ever.

How, the captain is amazing! His wounds instantly heal, and his clothes clean themselves between panels.

Nanobots, perhaps? That would make it easier to get naked in the desert.

He actually repurposed Dr. Horrible's freeze ray, and freezes the world so he can go clean up.

I started watching Firefly after the Uncomfortable Truths Well. During the Part Four I laughed when he wanted a "companion". You will understand that term when you watch it.

I just love the "Meerkat Manor" series on National Geographic.

I think I'll start my own wildlife documentary cum reality show with the birds in my backyard and the neighbourhood cats ...

 It's gonna be hilarious especially with the awesome set of sound effects I just downloaded !!!

Wouldn't that mean there was a somewhat easier way of winning the race? Just as honorable as using violence, but less obvious.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm still laughing about that one! Epic win!

Seriously, if that happened to me, even though I'd be laying there bleeding to death in the desert, it would qualify as a great day.

Maybe I just have a dirty mind but this line confuses and frightens me.

On topic: I enjoyed this one more than any of the other race series so far. I am really hoping for a bag of meerkats in part 5.
Warning: Post may contain lame, overused reference.
That's no reference! It's a space station!

Is it me, or does Randall get more badass each second. If you think about it, the similarities between him and Kudzu are quite significant.

But we need to go there faster.

Will running at the speed of light help ?

There should be some calculations we can do to find out ... Anyone ?

I was wondering the same thing (about the names)...

No it would actually hinder. The faster you go, the slower your time goes. (Kind of. I am not a physicist.)

Now this is real XKCD! You don't need to know anything about the main subject in the comic, but it can still be awesome and hilarious! Although I got to admit, "The Race" has gotten me surfing for hours in the wikipedia reading about Firefly.

Actually, that would help. Time would go slower for you compared with everyone else, so their future (possibly including companions, but I am making no promises) would appear to come quicker for you. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_paradox. Alternatively, you could just get rich. The name companion may be new(ish), but the concept is definitely not. It's basically a cross between the more respectable end of the oldest profession and the Japanese geisha, while not being quite the same as either.

I'm fairly sure solutions to the tiwn paradox all hinge on the changing of (inertial) frames of reference and so its the acceleration that would help you get to the future faster not the actual act of running at the speed of light. If im wrong please explain why in simple terms, as from the POV of the spaceship he his stationary and earth will age slower.

Oh and i personally guarantee companions/ socially accepted wh paid for lovers in the future, once this stupid stigma around sex dies down (dammit somebody get me to the future too)

Personally, I'm disappointed. The last panel(s) in the fourth row would've been perfect for a giant HARK! from offscreen. Plus it would've given the non-flans something to laugh at. And if anyone could beat River it's a middle-aged hacker with a katana- wait...

Not to get all MPAA-ish, but the entire series is available free on Hulu. We could just embed it in a forum thread and 11 hours later everyone could be caught up. (And they'd be 11 hours closer to the future!)

Yes, it would -- in that particular series case, it'd be far better if she beat, indeed, EVERYONE. Including herself. I'd cheer.

If there's a Part 5, does it start pushing Fair Use?

Hopefully this ends with a Blues Brothers-like chase with Nazis, the police, the Good Ol' Boys, and allwhat chasing them to the top of some tall structure.
