Hi all, this thread needs clarification; for skateboarding was, in fact, forbidden in Norway between 1978 and 1989, and skaters were literally criminalized. They built ramps in forests, or wherever they could stay hidden from the police.

Wait, so what was it that got skateboarding banned so much? Was it that a lot of skaters did bad things (my vocabulary is so extensive (oh wait, no, i'm talking to Randal's cat again))? Or are skateboarders banned as much as the rest of us bikerscooterrollerracers and they're just being whiny crabs about it?

I think it has to do with the health risks and that Norway has socialized medicine. Sorry, I'm just a cynic about anything government is involved with, especially when money/funding is somehow involved.

No, it was just a few politicians who used the percieved danger of the new to make headlines for themselves by appearing as if they were caring for the safety of kids. It was ridiculous (and regardless of health care system).
