I hereby nominate this for the cutest XKCD comic ever. All in favor?

(I decided there are better ones, but not cuter ones, with the possible exception of #551 panel 4)

Soon, the woods are filled with the sound of power drills as the other woodpeckers get their own... and then the beavers got concrete.

Monty Python references come to mind.

"Wait a minute! Supposing two woodpeckers carried it together!"
"No, they'd have to have it on a line..."
"Simple! Use the power cord!"

Actually I thought it was just a comic meant to be cute. Randall might just be trying something new. If there is something we are missing please tell.

Or maybe comic 666.

When we lived in the country we had a large metal TV antenna, and woodpeckers would often attack it. You'd think they'd learn their lesson after the first time (owowowowowowowowowow), but no. Sounded funny too.

What is that thing he gave the woodpecker? A jackhammer?

Well, if this isn't a gem.

I remember about eight years ago, when I lived in Virginia, woodpeckers would wake me up all the time at seven in the morning. I don't think power tools would make that process any less annoying.

Totally!! I had to sign up for this forum just to join you all in "awwww"-ing. That's exactly the kind of comic mood (among others, of course) I love xkcd for. My favourite in a long while (even though #612 was the one which really made me laugh after a longish series of acknowlodging nods or smiles at best). Well done, Randall.

I like it. In the other thread, they are nominating it for `cutest xkcd ever'. Don't know if it's this one or comic 20.

I second (3rd?) the shirt idea.

A real friend would just get him a battery-powered unit to start out with.

That's nonsense, where's a woodpecker going to charge a battery?*

* That reminds me, when we went to Atlanta for the FRC championships, Andrew brought a boat battery to power our laptops on the 10-hour bus ride.
One day after the pit closed Andrew grabbed a battery charger for the bot, and took it to the hotel to charge his battery. On the way back to the hotel, one of the mentors asked why he had a battery charger (he thought he'd had it, then didn't have time to put it back). Andrew says `I have a battery to charge' and leaves it at that. The mentor had an even more puzzled look on his face. You had to be there.**

** Other Atlanta story: we were in said hotel room (I was rooming with Andrew). Super effing nice hotel, there are like multiple rooms (2 bedrooms ,a living area, a kitchen, 2 bathrooms (we had 4 people in the room)). Anyway, Andrew got full claim to one of the bedrooms and the connected bathroom. One day after the pit closed Andrew spend the rest of the day in there with his laptop. When he comes out someone asks what he was doing in there, fapping?*** He says he was on SparkFun. Me: so that's a `yes'? Andrew: ...yeah.

*** Michael was also rooming with us. Once he made a comment about people using the wifi for porn. I say the connection's too slow to practically use for porn, even basic pages take forever to load. He gets on to verify this, and tries going to `google.com'. He accidentally typed `booble.com'. We found out with quite certainty that I was right.
