I'm not willing to trust my count of how many there have been, so I (n+1)th the shirt idea.
Had enough arguing about xkcd? Perhaps I can refer you to a crappy comic of my own.

See, now you've made me think of Joe Piscopo on Saturday Night Live doing an impression of Frank Sinatra singing The Woody Woodpecker ... ... ... Song!
Try the Printifier for xkcd. You can now scale the comic between 50 and 150%.

I find these very useful: Common Errors in English Usage (web site) and Eats, Shoots & Leaves (book). You may, too.

Complete list of comics WBG has appeared in, for those wondering: 167, 209, 248, 291, 328, 434, 442, 452, 478, 502, 509, 517, 559, 614

Also, you'll notice that in #434 and #442, both BHG and WBG appear.

What, you let Summer Glau's birthday pass without a comic about her? What kind of fanboy are you???

Well, I suppose you did a comic about *a* birthday. Maybe you were subconsciously attributing it to Summer. Hee.

Awwwwww! Cutest/happiest strip in a while.

I'd buy the shirt, if it ever gets made, with just the last panel.

This is the cutest XKCD comic ever, ever. Seriously. It is very possibly officially my favourite now, after two and a half years of reading the comic...or, at the very least, it's tied for favourite with the shark-on-a-balloon one, because that one never ceases to make me giggle no matter how many times I read it.

I love you, Randall Munroe. I love you, and I dedicate my thrice-weekly giggles to you. <3

Yes I know I posted a link. Yes I know I do not yet have 5 posts. But it is link to another XKCD comic, not an outside link, so please do not mod-i-nate me.

Hmm, so there's black hat guy, white beret guy, white hat guy from http://xkcd.com/291/ and round white hat guy from http://xkcd.com/603/? :?

Black Hat Guy (aka The Classhole)
White Beret Guy (aka The Existentialist)

The other two are not recurring characters. In fact, that white hat guy has said nothing, so he hardly counts. However, I hereby demand that from this day foreward we call that 'round white hat guy' the Safari Hat Guy

Mr. Munroe - I am one of those who has not enjoyed your recent comics. I have found a lot of your recent work to be, well, below par. Your three body problem joke the other day? Horrid. Absolutely horrid. But I digress. This comic - I didn't hate it. I didn't laugh at it, it wasn't funny, but it was cute. It was nice. I smiled, which is more than I can say for a lot of your comics. So, kudos

I wrote this somewhere else for a slightly altered t-shirt design:

I'd actually like to see a spin-off that ignores the fact that it was originally a comic strip. Put the tree on the back of the shift with the opened present at the base, and the woodpecker in flight on the left breast in front. And then emblazon "XKCD 614" to ruin the effect. =D

I was reading this, and was forced to think of http://xkcd.com/509/ Then I clicked random comic, and it opened that one.

This is pretty serious for the woodpecker. They can break their beaks, and then guess what...they starve. A power drill could be a lifesaver for a woodpecker.

Also, yeah they're cute and all, but woodpeckers are mean little fuckers. Other birds won't come to the feeder when there's a woodpecker on it.

Fix'd, though it's not my fault because he's not reffered to as beret guy (or anything with the word beret in it) when I search for that comic using OhNoRobot.

I'd call this character derailment, except that beret guy hasn't ever had the same character traits long enough to establish a character to derail.

Except do those comics really count? After all, although both characters appear in each comic, they don't interact. Neither comic even has a story line.

Anyway, I demand an epic flying ferret vs. balloon shark vs. power drill woodpecker battle.

I'm not to sure how healthy it is to identify so closely with BHG, come to think of it.

D'awwwwwww.

It's been a long time since an xkcd comic made me go d'aww.

Do woodpeckers go 'pop', by the way? Seems an odd Onomatopoeia for a beak-on-wood sound.

The way she stares off aimlessly...

The way she drops the not-so-subtle hint...

The way she walks off sullenly, head slumped, after doing so...

Am I the only one who thought WBG completely missed the mark and forgot her birthday? Am I being overly empathetic here, or are all you guys just insensitive clods?

Still though... the woodpecker's cute.

How would a woodpecker untie a ribbon? How would it even recognize it as a present? Discounting that, how would it even lift the drill with its tiny little adolescent bird muscles?
