Then one day Pacman jumps into one of the ghosts, and the ghost blows up. The other ghosts flee in terror.

That's all well and good until the ghost's eyes return to the hideout. The ghost is inexplicably restored and starts infesting the next maze by converting all the dots into copies of itself!

SPOILER: Ms. Pacman dies when impaled by a gridbug.

ROFL Chocobean!

No, I hadn't. But has everyone seen this one: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=pac-man?

(admittedly, not nearly as funny, especially if you weren't there, which I wasn't)

Ok, I know this thread is creeping up on five years old now. But hear me out.

Does anyone have the version of pong featured in this comic, or know where to get it? It can be seen in this (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/pongoska) animation as well; all of the sound effects before the dudes comes out and start talking are taken directly from the version I'm talking about. I emailed the company who made the short but it's too old and they don't know anything. The archived versions of their website are also a dead end. A screenshot of the game comes up a few times in a google image search, but none link back to the game itself; none of the youtube comments about the animation refer to the game, either.

Anybody got this?

It's based on the original arcade game, or one of its many clones. As for where to get it, you could try eBay or similar sites, but I would be very surprised if it wasn't a collector's item at this point.

There are about a billion clones out there, I'm sure you can find one that tries to look like the original...

I've got a copy, but you revived a thread that's so old that I'm still subscribed to it. I hate it when people do that.

May you be forever pongless.

Why would you do that?

Anybody else? Or maybe melt your cold black heart?

The whole point of reviving the thread was to find people who had been around during that time and knew exactly what I was talking about. And see, it worked! Sort of!

The pedantic nerd in me feels the need to point out that there was no code in Pong, Space Race, or the other early Atari games.

The whole game was rendered in 7400-series logic, with other parts as needed for IO.

In fact, Space Race (Atari's second arcade release) needed a bitmap graphic (a spaceship), so they made their own ROM out of diodes on the PCB. They only made half a spaceship, and then with a shift register mirrored it to the other half.

That's hard core. They don't need no stinkin' CPU.
