Alt-text: Since the goatee, glasses, and Seltzer & Friedberg DVD collection didn't tip you off, there will be a $20 negligence charge for this service.

Is White Hat Guy a new character?

I wonder what the threshold to be considered a "total" douchebag would be.

Also, are there other degrees? Semi-, mostly-, 2/7 of a cheat and liar?

I was about to post a new thread like 10 minutes ago when it first appeared, but I'd never posted before (I'm a lurker!), so I had to register then familiarize myself with the BBC code etc. Ah well, another time.

Anyway, yeah, this is a hilarious idea. To be a joke-killer for a minute, it should be pointed out that everyone has different standards of what consists douchebaggery, but the point still stands.
People need to somehow be held accountable for their dickishness in relationships (or anywhere else in life).

Poor Tiger Woods would hate this program...

Blast, foiled by my router hiccuping. Oh well, maybe next time.
Like I said in my thread though, I was expecting a Scott Pilgrim joke. I like this better, though.
That being said, the mention of of California being experimental went over my head (I'm Canadian, and I don't watch the news), anyone care to give me the short version?

As someone with glasses and goatee-ish facial hair (and an inability to change one of those things), I feel as though I must stand up and say that we moderate glasses-goatee people hate Friedberg and Seltzer movies as well, and it's only a minority radical sect of our style that thinks those are actually funny.

That is all.

I enjoyed seeing a shoutout to the worst two-headed movie director in human history. (The best, of course, is the mysterious entity known as the Coen Brothers.)

How funny: the state of California is known to the rest of the USA to be a total douchebag. So I guess it's a case of that "takes one to know one" going on here.

(Yes, California is a douchebag for as long as they try to limit free speech in any form)

California also bans flamethrowers and "assault weapons", which is absurd. Well, actually the former is a bit debatable...

large fine and you get your dating privalidges suspended.
fine and suspension vary depending on the severity of the offence.

I want to see someone purchase ratemyex.com and it can be like those professor rating sites. It would have a minor survey to fill out to somewhat standardize the ratings. Maybe also allow for several periodic updates for after the wounds have had time to heal

EDIT also, we'll give the lady the benefit of the doubt and say it's only her first offense, so $20 is reasonable. Repeat offenders will have their license suspended or revoked based on number and severity of offenses.

This may be a bit off topic, but I would rather watch a 6 hour marathon of Carlos Mencia than watch a single movie by Seltzer/Friedberger.

At least with Mencia, you get the occasional funny joke stolen from someone else, told less humorously of course. With Seltzerberger, they can't even use the jokes they stole.

What would YOU rather do than watch a movie by that monstrosity?

Heck, why not. As long as it doesn't involve taxes, you can get an initiative qualified to be on the California ballot by handing in a request written in pink crayon, attaching fifteen signatures and a picture of your cat.

Not sure why, but when I saw the goatee guy I was reminded of the hypnotist character Kenny Craig from Little Britain. Kenny Craig does not wear glasses though, as far as I remember, but should indeed be on a list of bad exes.

If someone were to make one of these registries, what would be used as the unique id? Obviously you can't go off name alone. You could ask the person to enter in the address of their date, but not all people know that, and people move often. Maybe the unique id could be the tuple (First Name, Last Name, City, Phone Number)?

I didn't know who Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer were, but wkipedia seems to like them. I thought i was reading encyclopedia dramatica.
"Friedberg and Seltzer do not practice the same craft as P.T. Anderson, David Cronenberg, Michael Bay, Kevin Costner, the Zucker Brothers, the Wayans Brothers, Uwe Boll, any dad who takes shaky home movies on a camping trip, or a bear who turns on a video camera by accident while trying to eat it. They are not filmmakers. They are evildoers, charlatans, symbols of Western civilization's decline..."[5]
Josh Rosenblatt of the Austin Chronicle offers similar criticism of Friedberg and Seltzer:
"Writer/directors Friedberg and Seltzer are a scourge. They’re a plague on our cinematic landscape, a national shame, a danger to our culture, a typhoon-sized natural disaster disguised as a filmmaking team, a Hollywood monster wreaking havoc on the minds of America’s youth and setting civilization back thousands of years."[6]
Korey Coleman of Spill.com has been notably harsh to Friedberg and Seltzer in his reviews of their films. During his review of Meet the Spartans, he repeatedly called the directorial duo "sons of bitches" and claimed that they "don't even try", later adding, "We need to put these motherfuckers in a rocket and shoot them to the goddamn moon because there will be no peace on this fucking planet, as long as they walk the earth." [7] Coleman later invented a new low rating for the site entitled "Fuck You" just to specifically rate Disaster Movie. In his review, he claimed, "I drank, I beat myself silly, I touched substances that I would never imagine doing before or ever again just to prepare for this movie, and it didn't help at all."[8] His review of Vampires Suck was even more harsh; the review consisted entirely of Coleman staring blankly into the camera for ten seconds before nonchalantly saying, "Fuck You!" and displaying the "Fuck You" rating he gave the film.

But after all the problems with sex offender registries

While I can see a number of problems with sex offender registries as implemented in the US, I'm not an American and I didn't know they were controversial in America; what are the reasons for the backlash?
