Alt text: "Take me down to the paradise municipality / where the grass is mauve and the girls aren't fromthisreality."

In my reality, the sky is purple, the grass is yellow, and reproduction is asexual so that we can get rid of all that drama and focus on productive lives.

Remember, when you come across unfamiliar lyrics... the neighbors can hear you when with your first time reading them, you also sing them out.

Take me down to Paganitzu City
Where the grass ain't green
And the girls aren't pretty

Kind of a poor performance really, but that's what it makes me think of.

Pretty sure it's a 1984 reference.

Doesn't the flag on the eight note go on the right? Or are the notes upside in the last two panels?

Of all the references Randall could've made, one to GNR was the least expected.

The 1984 reference, however, was certainly unsurprising.

reminds me of a different song:
Well sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River
To the abandoned old prison down by Adrie Hill
Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols
But empty pop bottles was all we would kill.

And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking
Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away

Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.
=
I had always assumed that that song was talking about a figurative paradise, but i was driving in kentucky one time and came across the road signs to Paradise. The town is underwater now, flooded by a TVA dam.

Take me down to

Take me down to the Paradise Pits
Where the grass is plastic
and the girls I'll leave up to your imagination

Take me down through the Paradise Tubes
Where the grass is shiny
and the girls are similar to the above

Take me down to the Paradise Huts
where the grass is long
and the girls are really really friendly.

Take me down to the Paradise Ditches
where the grass is dogged
and the girls are quite pleasant really.

Take me down to the Paradise Moors
where the grass is boggy
and the girls are definitely respectable

Take me down to the Paradise Rows
where the grass is cheap
and the girls are industrious.

Take me down to the Paradise Dude
who photographs the grass
and the girls pose... tastefully.

Take me down to the Paradise Lair
where the grass is mown
and the girls... have long hair

Take me down to the Paradise Lot
where the grass is singed
and the girls are running fevers

Take me down to the Paradise Zoo
where the grass is active
and the girls like to dance

Take me down in the Paradise Truck
where the ceiling's so low that
the girls have to duck 8)

I really better stop there.

I'm glad that this immediately turned into a "corrupt a song" thread from Forum Games.

Take me down to Dante's City
Where the boss is mean
and the demons pretty
oh won't you please take me down.

Also, I really like this song, and it will now play in my head all day long.

A few Swiss verses.

Take me down to Paradise Gemeinde
Where if you don't cut the grass
The girls send you a reminder.

Take me down to Paradise Canton
Where grass is legal
and the girls are wanton.

flag changes when you flip the direction of the stem
The flag (if there is one) always goes on the right. Which side of the stem the notehead goes on depends on whether the stem points up or down (up-stem looks like d, down-stem looks like a p), meaning that the flag may or may not be on the same side of the stem as the notehead. Some of the notes in the last two panels are, indeed, wrong (assuming that the intent is to imitate notes found in actual music without any flipping or rotation).

It brought the point home that just like everybody has their private hell, everybody may have their personal paradise. Hadn't thought of that; hell is so much more tangible.

At least, that's how I read the comic; not a dude corrupting lyrics out of boredom, but a series of parallel guys (the same guy at other times in his life? Axl Rose in alternative universes? unrelated guys? ) singing about the same concept.

They repeated the line so many times in that song I'm glad somebody came up with some alternatives.

Ditto. I knew that song well before I ever worked for Peabody Coal, and once there I introduced it to my co-workers. We never sang it when management was around, however.

I'm unaware of ever hearing the GnR song before (not a fan and if it had any airplay I missed it), but now that I've looked up the lyrics I guess I'll have to find a copy to listen to.

Differently to mostly everyone here, I for once didn't find it funny at all. (hint: usually I see a load of complaints on the comic at the times I found it amusing..) Maybe it would have been without the first panel. Now it just seems like "You know this song, right? Well check out THIS version.. or THIS version.. or THAT version.. clever, right?!!" I feel like I'm missing some major point that would have made it funny if I only found it. It has to be. You can't crush my naive hopes like this.

There are many towns underwater, but Paradise is not one of them. TVA bought it out and made everyone move because of the coal plants.

Take me down
To the seventeenth city
Where the Vorts are green
and the girl is witty

Take me down
To the Paradise Villa
Where the blades are hidden
in the cuffs of a killer

Take me down
To my very first city
Where I'll build a Wonder
Like the Chichen-Itty
(Oh god, I'm sorry for that one)

Take me up
To Presidium Level
Where the girls are blue
But the elevators take freakin' forever, seriously.
