Definitely should be more "na"s before BATMAN!

However, that said, did anyone else get stuck in the BATMAN! loop before realizing there was more to the comic? >_>

"Like" 57? Or literally 57?

The juxtaposition of an approximating word with a specific numerical value tends to hurt my brain. There are about 32.5 people on this forum who share the sentiment.

Feel free to add me to that statistic, bringing your total up to 33.51

ok, there is 154 "Na's" in 'Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin"

Jesus fucking pedant christ.

"We can't enjoy this comic because it doesn't have the precise correct amount of 'na's!" <-- If this is you, get some goddamn sunshine or rent a sense of humor.

Loved the comic! You don't want the pedants as readers anyway.

And let's not forget if we start with an alternate "Sha" we can "Na, na, na, na, na" and Live for Today according to the Grass Roots.

You can see people do the Mashed Potato, Alligator, Watusi, and others in Blues Brothers. From the lyrics, I gather this is the Wilson Pickett version. No one tops his delivery on this; I listened to this song 3 times in a row after reading the comic. (And then a few more mixed with other songs) Pickett's scream going into the second chorus is awesome. Also, Steve Marriott was clearly a fan:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=253Yg66ej0E

Note his Wilson Pickett-style "alright" and the lyrics after the second chorus.

While The Grassroots have the same changes as The Drifters, Live For Today is: "sha la la la la la live for today ..."
Both are excellent records.

Will Smith is good, but The Beatles defined more than a generation; they defined post-modern music. They pioneered the British Invasion, redefined what an "album" was, changed radio music programs, were the primary innovators of the music video, and they have influenced a countless number of artists, not to mention all of the social impact attributed to them. I think Randall's decision to add them in the fixed version over Will Smith might be justified.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm. Something that flagrant doesn't need "/sarcasm".

Oh, nonexisting deities, I am out of breath and my heart is pounding.
When I read "Na" the other day, I thought "where's Hey Jude", and thought about posting on the forum, only to discover that naturally others hade brought up that point.
So I had a look at todays comic, (which I have only read the first strip of so far), but somehow I got to "Na (Make it better)". I think it must be ten minutes ago by now, but I have not fully recovered. I haven't laughed so hard for a long time, so long I can't even remember. I kept laughing very loud for maybe five minutes continuously.
Randall, Thank You So Much - I had a rather severe anxiety attack earlier today, and such a great laugh really resets my system in a wonderful way. I feel so much lighter and - better, better, better.
I suppose fixing the comic was not a planned stunt - but it was **so** great.

No one noticed that the Katamari Damacy has one too many Na's? I just listened to it like 7 times, counting on my fingers... there are only 9 but the comic says 10...

I'm super sure it's 9, unless there's a silent "na" somewhere.

I don't understand why Randall didn't include every single song that uses the words "Na" in groups of two or more. This is a glaring omission, and I fully expect you all to keep this thread alive until we have collated a comprehensive list which we can then present and ask, nay, demand that the comic is updated to reflect it.

Of course the problem then is that the comic would quickly become outdated as new songs are released so there needs to be a team dedicated to scouring the lyrics of all newly released songs for these groups.

Oh Crap! I just thought! What about songs in languages other than English? Do we have any volunteers for Punjabi, French, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Magyar....

1) The Hotstepper is sampling from Land of a Thousand Dances, it isn't original. Neither is Getting Jiggy with It. I love both songs, but strictly speaking I wouldn't include them in the list. Kudos to both of them for awesome sampling.

2) Bob Marley and the Wailers: Them Belly Full (and others)

3) Other Na-na-na songs as noted in this thread.

4) Don't care, myself, about the actual # of na(s) in the comic in order to be happy with it.

5) Fanning all others who did complex searches for songs with na na na in them, which actually led me all the way back to my Banana Splits days with Tra La La (derivative, but not Na na na, though I always thought it was Na Na Na as a child since they are the Ba Na Na splits.)

@ anu3bis : Don't forget that "Me and Bobby McGee" was originally written by Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster, and was originally performed by Roger Miller.

It has also been released on albums or as singles by many professional artists and groups, including Kristofferson himself. The list includes not only Janis Joplin, but Gordon Lightfoot, the Statler Brothers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, Chet Atkins, Blll Haley and his Comets, Arlo Guthrie, Melissa Etheridge, Tori Amos, Olivia Newton-John, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Grateful Dead.

Rolling Stone lists the Joplin version as one of the top 200 recorded songs of all time in their list of the top 500 (around 150 IIRC).

I did quite a bit of thinking and playing around based on this, and produced a graph engine that produces directed graphs from song lyrics. Powered by a Lyrics API, and PyGraphViz, and a SVG library, I've now got a working version on my website:

Some of you might have fun playing with it.

The "Katamari Damaci" song only has 9 "Na's."

Na Na Na from My Chemical Romance has 43.
