Do you realize what you've done? You've removed the tiny bit of backing your opinion on each comic had. You've exposed yourself - you've basically admitted that you hate each comic not based on content or humor, but because you hate Randall. Or xkcd. Probably both. And thus your opinion is worthless.

Pulled it up from my Verizon Droid3 and get a strip that says "ERROR: YOU HAVE EXCEEDED YOUR VERIZON MONTHLY BANDWITH CAP. MOBILE WEB BROWSING HAS BEEN DISABLED."

Bandwidth was misspelled in the strip itself. I wonder if the spelling errors were just part of the rush to get all these out, or if there's a message hidden that reveals itself when your string the misspelled words together?

I'm very disappointed by this comic, because I can't see all those images. Anyway, that's lot of work. It is a shame that some of it could never be seen without purposely looking for it.

Anyway, here is what I have got:
Image

upper left: I'm amazon kindle user, so I got this
lower left: from chrome
right: I didn't get this, maybe because I'm not from US and my English is bad got it with a bit of attention

with disabled referer and user agent I see regular snake comic (one with portal).

Referrer counts in the cartoon selection algorithm and the one you saw first has been documented as caused by coming from questionable content.
I think it was documented as coming from at least one other webcomic as well.

Just thought I should mention there *is* a Wellesley one that looks oddly similar to the Smith one--but obviously the Wellesley one is correct :P

I'm in Rhode Island and on various browser's I've seen the snake one and the northern lights one. Nothing special on my 3DS unfortunately... it would have been nice to have a reprise of last year.

O my god, Randall, are you gone crazy?
Without googleing the latest comic, I wouldn't have found out that you not only made different comics for different browsers / OS'es, but also different locations.
And all that even though expecting about 1% of your readership to find out? or... maybe not? hmm.... maybe you expect your readers to do further research, when one doesn't get the point of the strip, so in my case it worked.
I had fun, I hope other people will as well.
Btw, excuse my bad english, I'm from germany and I liked the pun on the Berlin airbridge very much.

Even that suits the point of the comic rather well - the people who came here for various reasons and learned that there were dozens of alternate comics... We're also just in another umwelt; there's more variables to how you experienced the April Fools comic than just the variables Randall and Davean put in the code :P

I like to imagine the casual xkcd readers somewhere out there who encountered this comic outside of our analytical context.

A: Hey, you catch the new xkcd? I didn't get it.
B: Yeah, it was funny because the snake had two heads.
A: ...Wha? I just wanted to know what the weird white circle meant. So it's a reference to a snake?

From an MIT address, another variation on the Wellesley/Smith comic:
Image

(Course 15 is Economics)

When I read the alt-text, I honestly thought "Umwelt" was referring to how MIT students in different majors perceived the same environment differently, and then I came to the forums and found another layer of recursive meaning. This is the greatest comic.

Is there a place other than the Reddit thread where all of these have been archived? I saw a mention of a Google Doc, but didn't see a link to it. Hopefully there's a version that is as up-to-date as this thread is...

And, I wonder if the earthquake comic is viewable in every state, thus meaning there's 50 different versions of it?

This is a link to the google doc that we've created (it was on page two) of as many strips and as many methods of access as we could find.

http://tinyurl.com/UnweltXKCD

I went ahead and edited in the relatively exhaustive list at the bottom of the screen, should include nearly every strip Randall made.

Thanks Randall! Finding all of those strips was the best use of an hour ever! :D

Sorry for double post  :(

Anyway... The Google Doc link is above, and a version of the comic appears to be viewable from each state, although some of the northern states use the aurora or lake diver killer strips.

Presumably the earthquake one is not viewable in California, or else the whole thing would have to be rewritten. At least, none of the browsers in any location I've tried returned the earthquake, from here in California.

Yes, that easter egg hunt was exactly what was so great about it, and some strips, like the Facebook dogs or the Paul Revere one, were just awesome.

Thanks for all your work, too bad many of the screenshots have been taken down again.

It would be great to have this as a poster. With a world map. And aaaaall the strips spread out on it :)

I think I found a version no one has posted yet (unless I missed something in the previous pages) ! Seems to be a special version for France, using Firefox browser.
I've been (figuratively) dying to post it here for 2 days, I've even registered to the forum for this reason... but... couldn't find out how you manage to attach images to a post... :? (by the way, could someone tell me how to do that ?)
Anyway, I finally put it in a googledoc : http://tinyurl.com/xkcd-french

Enjoy !

The strangest thing about 1037 is that it arrived on Sunday. When it appeared in my array of Chrome tabs I open every morning there it was so I assumed it must be Monday, but I checked, and no, it was Sunday. I can only assume it came to me before anybody else and that that can only be due to the fact that the server must be very close to me.

I hear there's a special easter egg if you view the comic using Tim Berners-Lee's eyes.
Someone should go get them.

Or I suppose they could use the old Chinese Eskimo guy from Blade Runner.
