This comic made me wonder how long Megan has been around, so I checked the archives and found out Randall asked her out in comic 159. Nearly a thousand comics, no wonder this comic brought tears to my eyes.
P.S. Randall should do a surprise kiloversary comic for 1159

Another one who's just signed up to say what wonderful news this is to hear. Hang in there, and good luck for the years ahead! I still remember #818, and the following comics on the same theme.

hey... I registered to reply to this comic.. I read your wonderful comics now since 2006 and they make me lough, think and smile. A lot has changed in the last years. From a nerdy computer sience student somewhere in germany to a project manager and all that just doesn't matter when life is reduced to essentials. All I can think of is how it would struck me if my wonderfull nerdy wife ( she also studied computer science) would be diagnosed with cancer...

This comic made me actually cry which is a bit strange considering...
I honestly thank you for everything! I wish you both all the best in the world.

It's been a year and a half since my initial diagnosis of cancer. Fortunately, it was removable, and it's been just about a year since my first follow-up scan that came back clean (and have had follow-up scans since then which have come back clean as well).

Compared to what others have had to go through, mine wasn't as bad. Still, at 27 (at the time), having a doctor call you up and tell you that you have cancer is never something that one expects. Especially when it's not something caused by anything - I've never smoked, or done any other activity which would be a risk factor, and the doctors basically said it was a very rare cancer which shouldn't have occured, and fortunately also has a very low rate of recurrence.

It's just one of those things which can really hit someone hard, and make one stop and take a look at one's life, and put things into a different perspective.

Congratulations Megan for beating cancer for two years. I hope you keep on beating it. And well done Randall for being there for her and for sharing so that others may know by example that there is reason to hope and fight on through treatment. Love and understanding combined must be very reassuring, and comic 931 certainly added to my understanding of cancer. This comic is very touching. Thank you.

Wow! Congratulations. Wishing you the best in the years to come.

It's been 20 years since she died, but this comic brought me back to those days ... the chemo chair ... "chemo brain" ... the victories ... the sitting by the phone ... the joy of just holding hands.

Well done, Randall, well done. And a reference to Portal thrown in for good measure. I laughed, I cried, and I remembered. Thank you.

Randall, I've been following your comic for several years and thought I'd seen all your posts, however somehow I must have missed the marriage ones. When I saw this post I started to well-up. I'm so happy for you both, and you are a really nice guy for doing that and for supporting her throughout. Well done to you both. I'm sure the best is yet to come.

I created a forum account just to say: Wow! Comic 1141is powerful. I've never had to struggle with cancer myself or support anyone close to me with cancer. However, this simple comic invoked an incredible range of emotions in me. Each frame masterfully captured the fear, the hope and the love. Well done and congratulations!

This seems to be a trend here, but I also registered just to comment about this comic.

It caught me completely off-guard. I re-read it a few times and found myself just pensively sitting for a while and having a silent cry. Even now reading through forum posts of how it has touched other people, my eyes are watering, which is truly liberating as someone that, despite often wanting to cry, generally simply cannot.

Thank you for making a fantastic comic that is not only brilliant and funny, but has true integrity and heart. I've been reading it for years, and will eagerly continue to do so. Best of luck to both of you.

I've created an account right now, and been following your comics for many years. Gazing at #1141 over and over again, words fail me. This is one of the most outstanding pieces of art I've ever seen. Every single image, in the blink of an eye, tells a story so huge I'm scared to get lost in a vertigo forever if I think about it for too long. To me, this is poetry. Thank you for creating this.

All the best
Stefan

Is it too early to wish Randall a happy anacanciversary/remissiversary? Will we get a "3 years" comic?
