I registered just to say HAPPY BIOPSIVERSARY!

This made me very happy. With one obvious exception, the picture tells a lovely story and I hope it goes on for a long time.

Yeah... That's only 16 years.

I think glasnt means 2 + 2^2^2 = 10 years; if he is referring to the 10-year prognosis comic (#931 Lanes). (Can't link due to spam rating.)

Edit: Whoops, my maths was way off here, sleepy moment. Sorry about that... For the sake of honesty, I'll retain the error above.

(I've been teaching statistic classes this morning to students who don't want to know anything about statistics. Sometimes, I get a bit tired...)

I don't post very much, but I've been reading XKCD for years. Congratulations for getting through what must be an unimaginably difficult time for you, Randall and Mrs. Monroe. Thanks for being able to make us laugh during a time when smiling must have been hard. I wish you guys all the best, and I can't wait to see the 20 year Biopsy-Versary comic!

Beautiful,
When I started reading it, It was obviously your(pl) story and I had a horrible moment when I didn't know how it was going to end. The panels were so poignant that I was afraid...
Thoughts:
A wonderful older man named Ron Rogers (a brilliant forensic scientist) observed to me that his chess ranking reflected his chemo cycle in his last years. He was brilliant at understatement, as at everything else.
The years (or mere weeks) I've spent with many wonderful people who have died of cancer have been just as fraught and just as wonderful as the middle panels; life is beautiful.
I pray for you(pl) to have Happy Biopsyversaries again and again, and to treasure every panel of your life together.
Sometimes your comics make life brighter.

There's really nothing I can say that's any different from everyone here.

Well, I could say purple monkey sparkle dishwasher, but that just makes no sense.

Congratulations to the two of you.

I don't think a webcomic has made me cry before, but today, two did. This one, and this one.

Although this is to a large extent a sad comic, it has still made my day in a strangely happy way.

Randall, you're awesome. And congrats to your better half. Hope everything goes fine and you have the future you both want.

Randall, thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us and bringing us together as a group. Congratulations on the biopsyverary, and may the two of you continue to get out and enjoy life together like in this comic, for many years to come. Thank you for reminding us that we shouldn't take anything for granted.

Happy biopsy-versary!
My guess is that the Portal joke rid all of the cancer cells from her body, not because it was a good one, but they were afraid he was going to say a cake joke. Or possibly, "zarg" is the magical word that unsummons cancer. Either way, they've discovered the cure and should probably get a Nobel prize.

Awesome!

So wonderfully heartwarming and it made me tear up. And then the mood whiplash of the alt-text. Curse you for making me laugh and cry w/ the same comic.

I too registered because of this strip. I have a story that is similar, but much less tragic. I was hanging out playing Boggle with my sister in-law. She was kicking my ass, but we were slowly going through a bottle of wine. At the end of the bottle of wine, I was crushing her. That extra fifty pounds or so I had on her made me the drunk boggle champeen.

Congrats!

This is so terribly sweet. My goodness, I never thought a webcomic could be hope-inspiring, but this particular day, XKCD is. The same as everyone above, I hope we see many more biopsy-versaries for you and your fiance, Randall. And if things ever get rough again, well... we love you and your work well enough not to mind hiatuses. (Or guest artists.) I know I've gotten so much joy out of XKCD over the last few years that I consider every M-W-F comic to be a gift, anyway. Live long and prosper!

I was really moved with this one. We've been trough similar shit in these last few years, so I do understand your situation quite well. Remember, you have a large number of people cheering for you.
I am a long-time reader of your blog and I highly appreciate your work and have lots and lots of respect for what you're doing and how you're doing it - inspite of everything.
By reading your awesome comics I learned so much, laughed a lot (every now and then) and was sometimes really inspired. I sincerely wish you and your wife all the best and more! Please be well!

greetings from Berlin

My Mum, unfortunately, was diagnosed with a "lump" last night which is blocking her stomach exit-way and we're severely hoping it isn't cancerous. This comic gives me hope, whatever it is. <3

You have been more true to life about cancer in your few comics about the topic than anything I've ever seen (except maybe w;t), and I wanted to say thank you for being honest. You have shown the small victories, the large defeats, and just how life continues in an up-lifting and realistic fashion. Congratulations on two years, and I wish you and your wife the best!
