Washington's farewell address read aloud annually

Postby br001sp » Thu Dec 24, 2015 6:00 pm UTC

I was browsing old blog entries and I came across the one from several years ago with Washington’s farewell address in the vernacular (brilliant, by the way). I think this should be read aloud annually in some public forum to remind us all how we should think about politics and government. If Randal doesn't feel like he should be the one to read it, I suspect that Cory would be willing.

I think this would be a positive addition to other US social traditions, right up there with:
the Wizard of OZ
A Christmas Carol
The State of the Union Address
Dearth of critical thinking
Money influencing politicians
The mysterious persistence of the Kardashians
Conspiracy theorist faith that any group of people can successfully keep a secret
Old white guys sending children of color to fight wars
Fireworks on 4th of July
Disdain for anyone who is not exactly like us
Driving cars instead of using mass transit
Giving to charities
Wearing jeans
