$400m in bitcoins? So the creator really isn't the guy with 3 million bitcoins. I was wrong...

And now the same account that introduced bitcoin 5 years ago in a website called "P2P foundation" (and had been inactive since then) has posted a message: "I am not Dorian Nakamoto."

The plot thickens!

The question is: will more people see that as confirmation that he is or as proof that he isn't.

Yeah, denying it is kinda counterproductive, à la Streisand effect.

The article makes a pretty convincing case, too.

I'd say weak evidence in favor of it being him. We know that he has the motivation to deny it and the awareness that the claim has just been published. Other possible candidates for Satoshi Nakamoto might not have heard about this (if they're really distancing themself from bitcoin news now) or might not want to deny it (because they remain more anonymous if others think it's Dorian S Nakamoto when it's not). Of course, the same motivation could lead them to post this in order to make me think that, so it's mostly a wash.

Has Satoshi Nakamoto made a habit of denying being specific people in the past?

I don't believe so, but this article is a bit of a special case. There's a been significant outrage all over the intertubes because of the unresponsible disclosure of all sorts of personal information about the man by Newsweek.

Given how many different people have been outed as "Satoshi Nakamoto", I'm rather doubtful that this one's correct.
