Sweet. I've always loved Foxtrot's ability to channel into the geek-world and still be a mainstream newspaper comic.

Aww, I registered for the forum, just in the hopes of showing this. Oh well, the important thing is, everyone will see it. :]

Sorry to disappoint everyone hoping to create this thread, I'm a twitter whore and acquired the link super-fast from Scott Kurtz.
I agree with Gadren, Foxtrot is one of the few newspaper comics I even bother looking at any more.

Which is sadder: that I read three of those, or that I don't read all four?

Foxtrot has always been my favorite comic, but this just escalated it to heights of near-perfection.

I dunno, I used to enjoy Foxtrot, but lately I just feel like it's gone downhill. I don't enjoy it near as much as I used to. I think this started when he stopped doing comics every day and switched to Sunday only.

Is foxtrot still in papers? It dropped out of mine about a year ago after a series about giving up cartooning and I figured it was done for everywhere...

Does it mean anything that i thought the xkcd spoof was the best of the comics? Though, I thought the tech one was good too

I believe that Foxtrot is still in some papers, but I was not aware that it was reduced to Sundays-only. Of course, I hardly ever read the paper except when visiting my Mom on weekends and then I only read the Sunday comics.

I feel like the xkcdgfhz and The Ecstasy of Tech were the best spoofs, although Penny Serenade was definitely random enough to be decent. NPC v. NPC seemed to be a combination of Kurtz's PVP and Ding! comics.

I think the best part is that she's analog (a fraction) and he's digital (a decimal).

So what would the alt-text be?

Ooo, my paper doesn't print Foxtrot. I've only ever seen it in Sunday editions from neighboring papers.

Does anyone else think that Foxtrot's version of xkcd was eerily prescient?

This is why I like Foxtrot. Shame it's Sunday only now.

I think it's because the Sunday ones were always just so-so. They were to me, anyway. Ever since he got the new format, he all but stopped writing strips with actual plotlines on Sundays and just went to mostly single-panel gags and... well, this sort of thing. Which is perfectly fine once in a while, and even passable once a week, but when you take away all the character interaction that goes on in the dailies, it's hardly a character-based strip anymore. If anything, he should have just dropped the Sunday strips and gone Mon-Sat only.

This is a complaint I have with a lot of comics these days, actually. Bill Watterson would be ashamed at what cartoonists have been doing with the freedom of their "open panel" Sunday formats.
