Who can resist the cute kitties?

Answer: NO ONE, OBVIOUSLY. Yes, all caps was totally necessary. I think you're supposed to post in the Introductions Thread in the General forum? If you're new...I guess? I, uh...I don't really know though. I'm just going to mosey on out of this thread...*scratches head*

I wonder if people are overthinking this phenomenon:

Some Guy quoted by the article wrote:"The child-like grammar tends to evoke the sort of sympathy one has for any child or foreigner struggling with the language one speaks.

"In the same way that a child saying 'Miss teacher, I has a stomach ache' is cute, these image captions are cute. When cats are making grammatical errors, it's just a whole new layer of cute."

I always thought that it was to mock or blend internet memes, depending on the author. I don't think the original creators were aiming at cute at all.

P.S. The article links back to the In UR Reality comic, awesome.

They screwed up their kitty pidgin on their attempted original I think.

I'm pretty sure it should "I are in teh news", and not "I in teh news".

Then again I could be crazy.

I was more amused that they referenced the comic. "In Ur Reality"

I disagree with them about it being a way to identify as being part of the community. Leetspeak, maybe. This? Not unless you want a really low bar for entry.

Slate did a feature a while ago that tries a little less hard to explain the phenomenon.
