This could be a problem with your internet/computers. I don't know all that much about computers (basically I'm about to talk out my arse)...but if something was wrong that caused your comp/isp to send too many messages to the battle.net servers then it may ban you quickly. Similarly there could be other things that force the server to ban you.

It's also possible if Aethernox has a dynamic IP, someone else using his ISP is a cheating bastard and Aethernox just happened to be one of the people taking the fall, if they have some kind of Autoban if joining from a particular IP.

Alright, I'm getting my CD keys back and we'll see if my old account is by some chance still active, though if people here are playing Ladder I suppose it doesn't make a difference.

Since when did they expand guest monsters to the entire fucking act? I could swear they only showed up in the WSK when I was last playing. Yes, I've found some neat stuff, without doing any "runs" so far, even though I'm in single player. I got a pair of Nagels before I finished Normal, and Hawkmail is good for a while (although three of them, not so much), but everything at all useful has been cold/fire/poison resist. And now, in A5 NM, what's dropping? Bonesnap. Cathan's Ring. Back when I was on Bnet, I think I looted enough Blackhorn's Faces to equip the Chinese army, but now I'm getting fried every other step... on the Arreat fucking Plateau. Never mind that I survived through a boss pack of them on the stairs in A4 (although, only because I was expecting it), now we need them in Anya's cave, where they can hover over the water and fry me as I cross narrow spots.

FUCKING GLOAMS.

At least I just gambled a rainbow amulet of luck. That'll help a little.

I've started playing again recently. I play on USWest, Username ShadowThesis is anyone wants to add.

I've got a few chars (All expansion):

Level 75 Poison/Bone Necromancer - Non Ladder
Level 79 Poison/Bone Necromancer - Ladder
Level 30-something MeteOrb Sorceress - Non Ladder
Thinking of making a hardcore character sometime soon.

My best char though is my Level 84 Zealadin, Non Ladder, with some pretty awesome gear.

-Ethereal Breath of the Dying Berserker Axe
-Call to Arms Crystal Sword
-Herald of Zakarum Gilded Shield
-Lidless Wall Grim Shield
-Chains of Honor Ornate Plate
-Gore Rider War Boots
-Verdungo's Hearty Cord Mithril Coil
-Harlequin Crest Shako
-Highlord's Wrath Amulet
-Ravenfrost Ring
-Gheed's Fortune Grand Charm
-Annihilus Small Charm

Overall it's a pretty kickass build and it tanks damn well in hell thanks to all the life and mana steal.
Maximum 6.3k physical damage per hit. I still need to get my hands on Dracul's Grasp gloves, Bul Kathos Ring and a Paladin Torch.

And does anyone else hate getting the Iron Maiden curse while doing hell Chaos runs as much as me? The ONLY time I die in hell these days is when I get maidened :x

Don't do CS runs with a melee character?

Personally, I dislike the "invisible poison cloud" pit vipers near Nihlathak more.

I don't mind them really, it's more the immune to physical monsters which annoy me, hence I put a couple points in vengeance.

And yeah I'm making a HurriDruid now so I don't keep getting maidened :P

I would love to play DII again, but after having my amazon that I spent weeks and weeks on trashed because I hadn't logged on for 3 months... including all the runes I'd been saving up... I have a really hard time wanting to play it. I DO want to play... but then I keep getting pissed that my amazon is gone.

Themata... if I make a necro, would you like to be my sponsor w/handme downs?? :D

if you can make a guy to collect keys, you can get hrs (high runes) in a relatively short amount of time (ive seen a hr go for 6 sets). use those runes to get better gear, and start collecting organ sets. each one of those goes for a hr.

I thought each key set is worth a HR now. At least thats what I was told on USWest.

Phrozt wrote:Keys? Are there parts of this game that I don't know about?? ¡This cheese is burning me!

Terror, Hate and Destruction keys. You can only get them in hell mode, they're part of the ubers "quest".

Key of Terror = From Hell Countess
Key of Hate = From Hell Summoner
Key of Destruction = From Hell Nthul-whatshisname

I think theres a 1/34 chance that they'll drop keys, but I get them pretty easily.

You get the three keys, cube them, opens a portal, you kill an uber boss (they're called uber for a reason, they're pretty damn hard) and the boss drops an organ, Mephisto's Brain, Baal's Eye, Diablo's Horn. Lather, rinse and repeat to get the three organs, then get a shitload of your friends together (you should all be high levels and have pretty damn good builds, seriously, you are almost definitely going to die doing this, no matter what. Cube the organs, portal opens to uber Tristram and there you have level 110 Mephisto, Diablo and Baal, all hella strong, with hundreds of damn minions with a lot of mixed immunities. When you kill the three uber prime evils an unidentified unique large charm will drop (hellfire torch, randomised class) and as many standards of heroes as people there were in your party.

My two friends and I did it all at level 81, a Smiter, a Zealer and a Hammerdin. We died, A LOT. And we only got a crappy druid torch :x

I played some D2 while my hand was healing, since I couldn't really play with both hands at the time.

I always played a mod called SevenLances, though; I always felt it was more fun than vanilla D2X and much, much more difficult. Elemental damage plays a huge role, even in normal, and you've gotta have a lot of resistances and vitality to make it through Act IV and Act V. I think the first time everyone gets caught by surprise is by Geleb Flamefinger in Act III; when he dies, his freaking CE hits for like 600 before resistance. Was always fun watching people new to the mod get gibbed.

Lot of new monsters they added, too. They brought the old Death Knights back from Diablo (remember them? started showing up in Hell?), the djinni models from Baldur's Gate II, the Advocates from Diablo (though they use The Summoner's model, from Act II), and even dragons that use the dragon model from Baldur's Gate II. They also add in Belial and Azmodan (the only Evils you don't fight) in Hell, and tie them into the giant quest to get access to the cow level (which is only in Hell, and extremely tough.) The other fun thing in the mod is poison, which tends to be much, much more dangerous (hope you carry antidotes), especially in NM and Hell. Always fun watching Radament's poison breath do about 1500 damage all told :P

We used to have our own private BnetD server, but they stopped running it when interest in D2 started to go away. Ditto updates, though they did release a little patch so that it could be used with v1.12 D2X.

It's worth mentioning that characters are only deleted once someone else makes one with the same name as yours. Simply double clicking the character should restore it.

I'm running Vista myself and I don't think I've encountered any major problems. You might need to run it as administrator the first time around (or always). If that fails, try running it in windowed mode (open the properties of the shortcut, at the very end of the line labelled "target", add -windowed

I run it on Vista as well and I believe I downloaded the patch first and installed it before running the game and it works fine.

I have a lvl 60-ish Blizzard Sorc on non-ladder and it's pretty fun. I'm at A5 NM but it's proving to be a bit more of a pain that I thought, I think I'm going to level up more and just keep forcing my way through. I'm planning on retiring the character once it hits either 80 or I beat Hell.

I'm still waiting to get my CD keys back from the friend I loaned them to, who is slow as molasses. Meanwhile I've been playing around in SP with an assassin, the class I neglected most back in the day. Considering some sort of hybrid kicker. Are ubers ladder-only?

I'd really rather play Ladder if possible because of the extra cube recipes and runewords. And especially if ubers are Ladder-only, as that's one big reason for me to get back on Bnet again. I did have a chance to solo the earlier Uber Diablo (there was this mid-level paladin in the game too, but he just bit it repeatedly for 10 minutes until I told him I wasn't going to give him a chance to grab the anni) but then stopped playing before they added the pandemonium ubers.

a level 25-45 in hell chaos can gain 3 levels per run. overall it seems to offer more experience than a baal run in a similar amount of time.
